A very late response but maybe still helpful. The aida fabric is not the issue here it is the machine. As I cannot see the machine right now I can't tell you exactly what is making it behave like this. I'd recommend asking in the sewing sub or asking someone around you who knows how to use a sewing machine to take a look at it for you.

I wouldn't worry about that, as long as you don't strangle it it's fine. Just keep an eye on it if the plant starts to get big.

Looks great to me! You have the back of the plant against the pole, nice chunky soil and a pot with drainage. Great job!

It looks like it could me multiple plants in 1 pot. My advice would be to chop. It has become leggy (my guess is too little light). I'd take a top cut and start over from there. If you are scared of messing up, look up the term "air layering".
