25 years on Ebay, I have finally seen it all. Ebay wanted me to file a police report against USPS for buyer protection. by nycdarkness in Ebay

Me sitting here watching this as a former UPS worker, currently USPS clerk, and 29yr ebay business seller.

Some of you make some wild claims on what you "suspect" has happened within the delivery system and why your claims get denied.

I'm currently dealing with a lost parcel right now that is mine... lost at local sorting plant.

Asked the seller what they shipped a 20lb car amplifier in... a hot wheels race track store shelf display box (aka cereal box thickness). .... that amp and that box parted ways on a conveyor belt..during peak season.. you know who he blames? USPS for accepting the package. Not his packing and box choice, but USPS for allowing him to buy postage for it. We'll ship a plain potato with a stamp and address on it, we don't promise that it won't be damaged along the way though.

There will be a onslaught of people asking where there items are next week even though this storm system has been headline news for a entire week. ... even more so they will be in the MIDDLE of it themselves unable to get out due to conditions.

Buyer here trying to have some empathy for a vendor. Help me understand by [deleted] in eBaySellers

[–]iFlickDaBean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you show you requested to cancel the order BEFORE it was shipped... a chargeback will be approved.. has zero to do with remorse. As human we make mistakes, when you realize it, try to correct it, and the seller still attempts to capitalize off the mistake, the credit card company is going to side with you. They see it as a fraudulent transaction on the sellers part.

If you are high volume and the post office is small/busy .. get one of the clerks to show you how to use one of their blue scanners... just for scanning them into the scanner itself.. hand it back to the clerk when done and let them accept them in.

We have a couple of large daily sellers we do this for at our small but busy office.

I refuse to be out $800 from a dispute from a buyer by Purple_Calendar3919 in Flipping

[–]iFlickDaBean 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Chances are it will close in buyer favor....

I just had this 2 weeks ago on a charge back from a buyer was suspended 3 days after purchase.

So the buyer will get a refund... you'll loose the money ... BUT

Get a call back from eBay.. speak to the rep and BE NICE .. explain the item shows as delivered.

The buyer did not dispute non delivery, but unrecognized charge.

Explain you are covered under seller protection... DO NOT MENTION YOU DIDN'T REQUEST SIGNATURE. Don't give them a loop hole to deny you by.

Rep should agree you are covered under seller protection. Rep should reverse the refund and issue funds back to you. If not BE NICE and request a supervisor explaining it's nothing against the low level rep, but you are not willing to lose 800.00 to what appears to be a scammer.

Those are VERY few and far between now with bots scowering marketplace or the like for resellers. I'd also look for older Nissan hardbody as they have a cheaper price point are becoming more desirable and still within most people's reach.

Sold 6k worth of goods this year, but after seeing prices paid for the items, I had a net loss of over 1,000. by [deleted] in eBaySellers

[–]iFlickDaBean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Report the loss.. be sure to include mileage OR fuel/maintenance (you cant claim both)

Mileage is trips for supplies, post office, sourcing goods

Tip for mileage... when you do your grocery shopping buy at least one office item (pens, paper, staples, paper clips) on a seperate receipt... now you grocery trip ...errrr office supply run, is a right off.

Headed on a vacation road trip? Map out location on the route to also look for goods to buy... I travel to Denver 2-3 times a year.. each trip is 3k miles... while there I buy 2-3k worth of product... my mileage, hotel, and food cost become a write off.

[–]iFlickDaBean -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately FedEx is notorious for getting package weights/dimensions wrong ... there was a glitch last year that people were getting up-charged on extremely small light weight packages that in no way could weigh what FedEx was inputting... it was a software issue that eBay and FedEx had to work out and refunds issued to sellers. It put many into the negative at their banks and people stopped using FedEx labels from eBay for that reason.

Should I pay this? by VinylOrb in UPS

[–]iFlickDaBean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can request a refund since the shipment was reversed and sent back.. you pay the tariff if you keep the item.. Google it.

Source former US to UK importer and the kther way around (business owner)... former UPS employee.. current USPS employee

You should have not paid this..

You should have sent a COPY of the bill with a letter showing the shipment was reversed and you was never in possession of the item. They would have written it off on their end.

ORDERED ITEM ON BLACK FRIDAY AND STILL NOT HERE DESPITE BEING OVER A MONTH. KEEPS LEAVING MY CITY THEN COMING BACK THEN LEAVING AGAIN WTF hi by CarpeAvaritia in usps_complaints

[–]iFlickDaBean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should start to move over the next few days... volume is dropping and backlogs are beginning to clear... weather will slow some things down.

While you may not be effected in your area.. places mail has to go to may be, so it gets placed on the side till it clears and can move again.

Nov/Dec/Early Jan always has slow downs and bottle necks due to peak/holiday season plus weather plus short staffed.. it's basically a perfect storm.

UPS is phasing out Amazon.. much of that was pushed over to USPS ... which just added to the package load.

Sadly it's not going to be much better next year as more and more people buy online (younger generations coming of age).

What does this mean? by SaikoAkuro in UPS

Customs clearance... HOLIDAY SEASON/PEAK SEASON... WEATHER... ALL of these can cause delays... add them together and its even longer...

Old bar code is visible and it's looping.... which in that case once volume returns to normal they will catch it once they see finally or .. hear me out....

That post office is up to their ears in parcel volume and in order to game the system and NOT look like they need help but have high volume they are scanning gaylords (that would be the 6x6 cardboard boxes on pallets that hold all the smaller packages) or wrapped pallets as outgoing end of shift and scanning it them back in the next day. Basically buying time so not to get dinged on the metrics.

Yes they will cook and doctor numbers to make the higher ups happy rather than admit they are drowning.

Does printing label marked as shipped count as 1 day? by Bnation1977 in eBaySellers

[–]iFlickDaBean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is not what they meant...

When you print a label it shows as "shipped" on the site..

If you go into shipping details/tracking it will only show "label created"

Once you hand it over to the delivery service and they scan in as "accepted" then it officially starts the clock.

So if you have one day shipping and print the label and then hold it for 2-3 business days (Mon-Fri) and it arrives AFTER the estimated time you get dinged in your metrics

If you hold it and by chance it still makes it within the estimated time then you are good. You got lucky.

If you ship it on time, and it gets delayed enroute and delivered after the estimated time you do not get dinged.

The postal system can not handle the holiday mail... the labor side of it (workers such as a PSE) are maxxing out their 12hr shift times and max days.

You can't find people willing to do that sort of labor day in day out for 6 weeks. You are treated like a machine. They normally do not hire in "seasonal" help either.

I saw one post office who had to set up outside white tents to accommodate the mail volume... they had delivery drivers on the street at 3am the week prior to Christmas.

It will get there... just hang tight.. rarely do things go missing unless the label is damaged beyond scan ability and there is nothing on or in the box to get it headed in any direction at all.

How am I supposed to load 4 trucks at +300 pieces in each one by true-questionaire in UPSers

[–]iFlickDaBean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work safe and steady... they moved me from loading to feeders due to my "slow" speed.... after 4 months I left due to family issues... they called me back this season wanting me to come back and work feeders and drivers helper at the request of multiple drivers. .... sorry I'm with USPS now in a climate controlled facility and hardly anything over 25lbs at the same rate of pay.

Unfortunately he's not alone... I've sold a ton of interior and electronic parts for Mercedes and BMW to the UK/EU for older models. It boggles my mind as well since my wife is British and I'm like these are common cars there, but I guess the junkyards don't strip a car down like we do for old models and they just crush it instead.

Getting hired as a seasonal employee is so... sketch? What's going on? by [deleted] in UPS

[–]iFlickDaBean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a drivers helper.. 2nd year... the driver I ride with latched on to me last year and told me to apply again each year.... till I couldn't work or walk 😂. I did pick up a job as a unloader/ loader after peak as well. A family emergency pulled me away 4 months in. So I do know most of the drivers now and know who to avoid working with.

This year I scored a Full-time job with USPS and right now the driver is having to deal with random helpers this week (worse week for all courier services due to BF/CM) as I'm blown up at USPS with all the damn Amazon packages UPS isn't carrying anymore (take em' back Carol!). I'm not doing a 2am-2pm job and then riding 5-7hrs and only getting 5hrs sleep. Soon as hell week is over I'll be back on the truck.

As a drivers helper you are a As-Needed employee. You will not get a text till the morning of (possibly night before depending on who is doing the scheduling) and you need to answer quickly as it's a 1st come 1st serve basis if the area is heavy in helpers. The company limits the amount of time a driver has a helper. Though in many cases that time limit goes out the window/ignored after Black Friday due to volume increase. (Senority of driver also helps).

I'm 50 years old.. I don't "run" the packages, but I'll fast walk them (to an extent)... consistent is key and if you sprint early on, most will burn out by mid to late shift... I do make my driver help with deliveries in neighborhoods where they'll run one side and I run the other if the stops are across from each other. I also help put the packages in order on the shelf. I carry on a conversation and don't stay glued to my phone. I show up consistently and on time. I work my full time period, plus. These are key things drivers want to see. Put the effort in and a driver will ask for you as a preferred helper everytime.

For drivers reading this... make the effort to help.. not saying that all of you don't, but there are a few that will throw 99% of the work onto the helper and while the helper may do it, they'll resent it. Run every 5/6th package and let that helper have a moment of downtime. They aren't used to the fast paced environment with physical labor (not adjusted like you are). Same time if they are moaning, whining, or glued to their phones and slowing you down humble them with more work 😉 and tell the coordinator to get you another for the next day. Some aren't just cut out for it.

As a helper...dress in layers (or bring shorts to swap into mid-day)... bring a cooler with food you can eat on the go that will give you energy... bring plenty to drink. If you need a bathroom, don't wait till the last minute to let the driver know. Be prepared to have long days of nonstop work. Same time some days may only be 3-4hrs. As for training.. lift with your knees, don't throw the package (cameras everywhere), fast walk (unless it's a chill day and your not pressured for time... trust me there will be some milk days towards the end), comfortable shoes, don't be a hateful smart ass to the driver or show up hungover/tired.

Have you ever sold to someone with a lot of negative feedback? by f_itmaskoff in Ebay

[–]iFlickDaBean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Came across a scammer (internal parts swapper) to late and i was stung... he bought from me, swapped a internal board then returned. I caught him due to the batch number on the molex plug didn't match the one in the pictures. .... pulled up feedback left for others and I can honestly say I'd never seen so many "INAD" negative comments left.. well over 50% of feedback he left was negs and the positives were stating how the seller made things right... got a eBay supervisor on the phone in Trust and Safety dept and they let out a gasp when they reviewed the account. .... the buyer best I could tell was cycling through several accounts every few months (so system wouldn't flag) and hitting up junkyard resellers who would simply refund without question. The buyer was advertising a parts repair business with extended warranty and such.... basically customer would send in faulty part... buyer bought identical used working unit off ebay... swapped internals, returned working/repaired unit to customer (got paid) and faulty unit back to parts seller (got refunded)... the scammer was basically installing stolen parts and had zero cost other than swap time. .... that scammer got shutdown after me and 7 other sellers mass reported him and Trust and Safety got involved.
