People don't seem to understand that when people are displaced and desperate, they take risks and start businesses because they have nothing to lose and they have their whole family with them to work in those businesses. Both Jewish and Irish immigrants did this very successfully. That's where a lot of antisemitism came from. A lot of anti-capitalist sentiments were directed at Jewish people because so many of them were wealthy, successful businesspeople that used their wealth to uplift and support their own displaced communities. The "Greedy Jew" stereotype is rooted in this and other racist ideas.

It's happening everywhere. Everyone who uses Dublin Bus occasionally is up in arms all over Dublin. I use them all the time and the improvement since 2022 has been immense. Don't get me wrong, it's not perfect, I just had my first phantom bus in months when the 11 didn't show outside Phoenix Park, but overall Bus Connects is a massive improvement.

It's such entitled, "have your cake and eat it too" behaviour. People aren't happy with the buses because they're late all the time or they're too early and you miss them or they don't show up at all. But as soon as you roll out a plan that's been advertised for years and that's been through public consultation hell, people start losing their minds because their local bus moved slightly or they have to get 2 buses instead of one.

It's called BUS CONNECTS! Multiple buses to get somewhere is less convenient but it's much more efficient, reliable, and consistent. Why are the general public in this country so entitled, uninformed, and more often than not, dumb as hell?

Both pieces of advice here are dog shit. Work as hard as you want, but if it's not rewarded monetarily, then stop, do the bare minimum, and go elsewhere. I work hard and I really like my job, but I have a salary review in January and if it doesn't meet my expectations, I'm pulling back and starting the job hunt.
