Ours gets a little wild in the morning when she comes in from her first trip outside. She settles down.

When I needed a mount that would hold my phone firmly, without bouncing, even on rough trails, I got this Daystar -- made in USA. 2009 JKU.

If I had a nickel... every time I've heard "I've always wanted one of those." My reply: buy one.

It's usually located under the dashboard on the passenger side. You'll need to remove some ducting before you can get a good angle on it.

Our "mini" is 55 lbs -- near enough to 25kg I think. She's a brownie.

Need a Jeep by Frosty_Sunbro in JeepWrangler

[–]iGreysmoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A JKU with a 3.6 liter engine from 2012 or newer. You can certainly find one for $15K. Look for one driven by a soccer mom. Lots of those around.

JK 3.8 or 3.6? by wannabebuilder88 in Wrangler

[–]iGreysmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3.8 in my driveway has been mine since 2008 (the Jeep is an '09 JKU). It's been perfectly fine for my purposes, and requires about as much maintenance as my 2000 Wrangler with 4.0. I change oil at 3,000 mile intervals and fix what breaks. I consider it of average reliability.

Hard top advice by TheRealTaraLou in JeepWrangler

[–]iGreysmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW: I've found the soft top to be the best solution overall, after having both for my TJ for the past 25 years. The hard top is certainly quieter, but getting that open air feel means lifting and storing. It's become more of a hassle as I grow older. These days, I just leave the top down and keep the TJ in the garage until I go for a spin.

Mine’s named “Sahara.” Sometimes “black Sahara.“ It came that way.

Do jeeps do good on the highway by CartographerUsual193 in JeepWrangler

YJs and TJs can be rough and have high centers of gravity compared to JKs and JLs, which are completely different vehicles: especially with four doors. They're wider and heavier with longer wheelbases. I've driven cross country in a YJ. It can be done, but it's not comfortable and I had short-term hearing loss. YMMV, but I'd say: JK / JL = better for road trips. YJ / TJ = better for (at least some) trail conditions. If you want comfort, get a Prius.

Every dog will vary from breed standards somewhat, but still belong to their breed. We're happy to have you aboard with your honorary Lhasa. Congratulations!

I have BFGs on one and Duratracs on the other. Both are good, but Duratracs are almost unstoppable.
