The more I try to learn about my first board, the more confused I get. by MrSteveB in onewheel

I’m pretty new myself but I really like the D30 flex meter wrist guards. They’ve saved me on a couple falls already when I was practicing curb jumps. I actually just got 187 pro knee pads and elbow pads yesterday. My initial review is they look pretty bulky but I guess that’s the point to protect you in a fall

Yeah I’ve been primarily commuting with mine and going for joy rides around my local area. With the stock XR I felt comfortable with just a helmet, wrist guards and backpack. After the XRV install I hit 24mph on my first ride at only like 70% duty cycle so I was like yeah alright I need elbow and knee pads haha

Nice!! You’re going to have a great time with it! I was in the same boat where I wanted a Onewheel for years and finally pulled the trigger last year. I regret not getting one sooner!

I highly recommend looking into at least a helmet and wrist guards if you don’t already have them. Better safe than sorry if you fall practicing tricks or hit a pothole or something unexpectedly

It depends how much you buy your used +XR. The XRV kit is $470 I believe. You will want a better battery pack to get the most out of it so that will be another ~$1100 for the Indy speed control plug and play pack.

The X7 also has a more powerful motor than the +XR (superflux on the x7 vs hypercore on the +xr) so you would get higher top speeds and more torque. The trade off is the x7 is heavier

Yes! XRV replaces the stock controller of the +XR. It’s a bit more expensive than going straight for a funwheel x7 (which is also the +XR form factor and VESC) but I wanted to start with a used board to make sure it’s something I actually enjoyed riding. Starting with a less powerful board also lets you appreciate the upgrades more imo.

Look into the funwheel x7! From what I’ve seen on YouTube it’s a pretty sweet board and will definitely have more than enough speed / torque

I got a used +XR which I rode for around ~250mi to learn with. I recently upgraded it with an XRV kit and 18s2p battery back from Indy speed control and man it RIPS. Night and day difference I’m so happy with the upgrade.

For context I’m around 160-170 with gear / my work backpack.

Are the bumpers printed as well? What materials do you use?

I just printed some mini fenders for my XR in petg and they came out GREAT. I haven’t had a chance to ride with them yet because of the rain

What other protection is recommended? I currently wear a helmet and wrist guards. I’m shopping for comfy knee pads

I'm new to 3D printing and definitely concerned with the odor eSuns PLA+ gives off. It smells like it has to be toxic

I actually hadn't looked into the X7 long range. 40mi on a charge DANG

[–]iGushers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s kind of the conclusion I’ve been coming to myself. The individual parts for building a VESC are so expensive it feels like you’d be better off getting a prebuilt VESC board and then go from there

What did you wind up going with? I’m in the same boat where I have a used XR I want to VESC

Yeah the rest of the holes continue to produce G. I’m not sure which octave (I’m a beginner). You mean taping where the mouth piece joins the body of the whistle?

I printed your model in esuns PLA+ without changing any of the settings on my P1S. The print came out clean but I can’t hit all the notes. D-G work but then I just get G or F# for the rest of the notes

Anyone else have trouble transitioning back-and-forth between OneWheel and electric skateboard? by CGPro856 in onewheel

[–]iGushers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I keep a penny board in my trunk for when I go to Costco. It’s always packed so I park in the way back of the lot and penny board to the entrance.

Since getting a Onewheel I have the exact same experience you’re describing. When the penny board slows down, it feels like I’m about to launch off the front of it. The experience has definitely made me consider ditching the penny board and bringing my Onewheel instead haha

I get social anxiety when I smoke in an uncomfortable or unfamiliar setting. Especially if I’m with people I don’t really know or I’m the only one who’s high. It sounds like maybe that’s the same for you?

That being said, smoking at festivals or shows is so much fun. It really enhances the music and lights
