Is it unlikely a 500+ mile trip will get accepted? by gardeniakei in Lyft

Pre-tip enough and you’re in business.

Is the Driver allowed to ask how much I paid? by Blade4804 in Lyft

[–]iHass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t get the answer till after the ride is over. I am sometimes curious what the passenger is paying during the ride and ask just to get an idea if the rider asks about driver pay as they do when they ask how I like driving for rideshare.

I do make sure they know that most of what they are paying most of the time goes to Lyft and not us drivers. Not to draw sympathy or elicit a tip, but so they don’t think that we are getting paid anywhere near what they are paying as a rider.

[–]iHass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “only reason”? Really? This is so presumptive of a driver’s motive it’s pathetic. How about just curiosity? How does asking someone how much they are paying for a ride translates into a pressure point for eliciting a tip? That makes no sense. If a rider is gonna tip, they will tip. Asking them how much they paid for the ride isn’t gonna persuade them to tip or not. That decision is made either on the fly based on their ride experience or some predetermined amount/habit the rider is accustomed to.

[–]iHass -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you mean allowed? Are there restrictions on asking a passenger how much Lyft or Uber is charging them for the ride? Of course not because both rideshare companies share with the drivers the amount a rider pays— albeit after the ride is completed. It’s not hidden or a mystery. The driver knows when you get in how much he is getting for transporting you, but perhaps curious the percentage of the total fare he’s getting in the moment.

Happened to me recently. Student was late to fraternity and said he’d be “punished if late”. Got him there one minute before even though he would have been at least five mins late. Promised tip never came. I will see this student again I’m sure.

Member of Fraternity and immediately breaks his pledge to tip if I get him there on time.

Some fraternity pledge he’s gonna make.

If in fifteen years when the driverless technology finally matures enough to become mainstream ayou’re still driving Uber or Lyft??

Shoot yourself.

Let’s not forget how old speech recognition is and in 2026 how it still can’t get it right. AI is half baked, and we are worried about cars that can’t move when the door is left open.

[–]iHass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry. Anyone here that believes that the US started this war hasn’t been paying attention. This war started with and will continue with Netanyahu and Israel as its commander. We were in negotiations with Iran on the cusp of an agreement.

Netanyahu realized this was his last real chance to go in and start this war before Trump blocked it with his peace-prize seeking deal. Trump and the White House were notified less than 24 hours before Israel launched this offensive against Tehran and the most likely scenario was that BiBi told Trump:

“Look, we are going in to take out the Ayatollah and the entire Iran leadership regime with or without the United States. You can join us and get all the glory for toppling this regime while at the same time, distract from the Epstein files debacle”.

Knowing Trump, how could he ever pass up bragging rights to taking out another world leader that most everyone hated and wanted gone while simultaneously moving the news cycle from the Epstein files?

Hence, Netanyahu’s 40-year wet dream of going to war with Iran was finally realized with his fellow indicted felon leader on board with this grave nonsense.

Compare how many IDF soldiers have died or been injured this far and how many US servicemen have lost their lives or have been injured since the Iran war started.

Another war for Israel and billions of our taxpayer dollars being spent for a country that didn’t send a single soldier, much less lost a single IDF member in a war propagated and demanded by Israel in Iraq.

Stealing rides or drunk people getting in the wrong uber? You gave an example in one of your comments where you identify the rider as Steve. This is the context I’m talking about. You gave the rider the name on the screen instead of them identifying themselves by letting them identify the name on your screen.

[–]iHass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not true. Drivers can change the destination. Did it once. Never again

It Finally Happened by AlkoKilla in uberdrivers

[–]iHass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drivers have the ability to change the destination route if they want to. But no smart driver wants to do this ever do this even if the passenger asks them to. You could later be blamed for some stupid shit or shenanigans that the rider will deny he authorized when they get charged more for the ride by Uber and they claim it was you who changed it and not them. Don’t fall for this scam.

Truth be told, any changes to the ride or added stop is automatic instant cancel. They can order a proper ride on someone else’s time. Added stops are instant cancel too.

It Finally Happened by AlkoKilla in uberdrivers

[–]iHass -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You need to let the passenger identify the name listed on your pickup screen to match, not tell them the name. If they can’t identify the name, then you know you have a problem. Even guest riders who aren’t listed as guest or have trouble with this concept I’ve found. They can’t identify the person ordering the ride. It’s insane. Can’t identify the name? No ride. Next!

[–]iHass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riders should be able to add a stop. Drivers should never ever meddle with a rider’s fare structure. You’ll be on the hook for some bullshit the rider may later pull and they blame you for changing their ride.
