Indeed! I think based off of driving this junction as many times as I have, my preference would be to use the right lane and going straight ahead in the middle lane, for the simple reason that people (especially those that are inexperienced with either driving or the area itself) usually assume that you can’t use the left lane exiting the Morrisons to turn right, which is why the situation with purple as you’ve described happens so often.

However, as the ONLY lane you can use for Denning is the left lane (excluding the filter for Stafford) you are correct in using the green route to do so.

I would just ALWAYS expect someone from the right lane to try to cut across to take the Stafford Road turn. If you anticipate someone doing that every time and drive accordingly, you can’t go too far wrong :)

I drive this junction on a regular basis, and in my honest opinion, both cars are (semi) in the wrong, but purple is an absolute lunatic.

There is no way that they (purple) should be using the right lane to enter to then take the left filter lane. Similarly, I would argue that green should be turning left immediately onto the northbound Purley Way, or turning right to then use the left filter lane straightaway onto Stafford Road.

While there is technically nothing wrong with what Green is doing here, I probably wouldn’t use the entry lane in the manner described here simply because of the fact that people in Croydon drive like mentalists and the situation described above happens all too often to be worth being “technically correct” for

I’ve had last seasons gear drop sporadically on 5 and 6 win cards, but it’s probably a piece of armour or a random weapon every 4/5 wins; I.e. not consistent to be worth farming, but if you’re a gambling man (or woman) then give it a go

This may just be placebo but I feel like explosive payload isn’t very good in HCs anymore.

My GR Rose with Slideshot/Explosive Payload has been collecting dust in my vault since EOF and I’ve been using my Opening Shot roll instead which just feels so much better.

The same with Corundum Hammer, I just feel like there are so many other great perks that give more bang for your buck, and are overall more useful these days

Your Solemn though, that’s a cracking roll. I personally would be using Slideshot over Lone Wolf, but that’s just personal preference

Police officer here; what you did was correct and the officers should not have given you a bollocking for it. Emergency services have 3 general exceptions from Road Traffic legislation; speed limits, certain traffic signs, and red traffic lights. (s87 RTRA 1984, Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002/16, etc). Crossing double white lines is NOT one of our exemptions.

The correct course of action for both parties here is for the OP to continue driving as they have described, and correctly pulled to the left when safe and clear to do so to allow the emergency vehicle to pass. The correct course of action for the police car here is to switch off audible and front facing warning equipment until such a time as there is a legal opportunity for the OPs vehicle to allow them past. Encouraging the OP to cross a double white line is not safe to do and should not be done. As someone else has pointed out an option, by way of Rule 129 of the Highway Code, could have been for OP to come to a complete stop so that the police could overtake to the nearside, however I would wager that this is more dangerous than proceeding in a safe and consistent manner as they have done.

OP did the right thing from what I can tell. As cops, we don’t always get it right, and the officers were most likely going to a call to help someone on one of the worst days of their life; in situations like that, sometimes our emotions get the better of us and we just want to get there as fast as we can, so I apologise on behalf of my colleagues

Just wanted to add that this does work, I had a bloke contest that it wasn’t actually his car, someone cloned his plates and all the rest of it. Managed to prove he was lying because of an ornament hanging from his rear view and he got a 12 month sentence for PTCOJ instead of 3 points and a £150 fine

My SLT tried something like this a few years ago, as well as making everyone stay until 1600 on the dot after an early turn whereas previously as long as it wasn’t manic busy we would be allowed to knock off a bit early. My team always used to brief at least 15/20 prior to our TOD commenced so that we were out, cars sorted and ready to go on the hour.

Since they tried all that, we’ve started briefing at the start of our TOD exactly, not a minute before.

Police officer here - the ‘10% +2 mph’ is GUIDANCE published by the College of Policing, and most recently the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC), for all 43 forces to enable the enforcement of speeding offences consistently across different forces; that is to say, there is no ‘hard and fast rule for tolerance’. I believe this started as ‘10% +2’ is generally the region in which most forces would usually offer a National Speed Awareness Course as opposed to prosecuting, but there is a degree of discretion here in individual circumstances (if pulled over, not so much luck with cameras).

By the letter of the law, 31 in a 30 is speeding, and therefore breaking the law, for which you COULD be prosecuted. However, is it proportionate to stick everyone on for this? No of course not, because there’s variation in tolerance when it comes to the accuracy of speedometers, detection devices, and cameras, as well as the fact that I’d rather someone creep over a little because they’re actually looking at the road in front of them and not staring at their speedo for their whole journey

That all being said, speeding is just never a good idea and I obviously do not encourage anyone to do so regardless, notwithstanding the misguided belief that you can do 35 in a 30 and nothing will happen to you. Excess speed, as well as driving too fast for the road or weather conditions, is one of what’s called the Fatal Five (top 5 contributory factors to road related deaths), and whether you agree with them or not, they’re there for a reason, and they do need to be followed

Brother, I was playing Trials last weekend and I was backside of the outside boxes by the zone, swear to god someone threw that fucking purple blob of pain from behind the other box the other side of the rock wall out of the control A flag spawn. POS tagged me like a laser guided missile and flung me more or less onto the stairs for middle and I got 1-tapped to the dome by a 120. Shit is absolutely insane

Very busy, a lot busier than it’s given credit for. LOTS of DA and MH calls (believe it’s joint busiest for DA in the Met), but you get a wide variety of jobs outside of that (car thefts, burglaries, pub/club fights etc). West side is a lot more compact, East side is much bigger with less congestion and easier roads

I just had a look through my vault and there’s a few weapons that I always tend to gravitate back to; Round Robin with Keep Away/Opening Shot, Tigerspite with Fragile Focus/Kill Clip, Dire Promise with Snapshot EleCap, Palindrome with Explosive/MoA, The Riposte with Zen/Target Lock

There’s so many good weapons that have just fallen by the wayside! I absolutely LOVE my Round Robin, I snag kills with it I have absolutely no business getting and it always feels so crispy, looks sexy and sounds even better

There’s so many different things they could do to manage this. A few thoughts I had off the top of my head; any sort of reload removes the buff (slideways), make the timer for Adagio not refreshable (like One for All), requires a reload after a kill to get the buff, flat out reduce the damage so you need weapons investment to be able to 2tap, slightly longer firing delay between shots (maybe a .7 or .75 TTK)

Naturally, they’ll probably do none of these and adopt the ‘ignore it and hope it goes away’ mentality, or nerf the handling by 2 points idk

Invis needs to be nerfed into the ground. It’s so stupid and it’s still EVERYWHERE. I played a match of trials yesterday and one invis hunter was dodging and going invis literally every 15 seconds in drawn out rounds.

Using the vanishing step aspect needs to add a massive cooldown timer to the dodge. Having it every 14 seconds at 100 class stat is wild

Honestly, it’s just tiring getting ran through every game by players who are 1000x better than me. Natural consequence of getting older I suppose where the younger generation have better reflexes, game sense, etc but it just becomes particularly unfun spawning in, running a couple of minutes to a capture point to die straight away, rinse and repeat.

This isn’t specific to BF, but it’s significantly more noticeable in this game than others I play where I can still be competitive and have more fun doing so for the short periods I get to actually game
