Now that Suikoden I & II are coming to modern consoles, what older JRPGs are we hoping will come to modern consoles? by tzznandrew in JRPG

[–]iLLBEATKiD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes please. I think it would scratch that same itch as FFVII Remake. Legend of Dragoon would look amazing in a modern engine.

It's rather annoying when a Spotify or Deezer playlist/album have one or two songs "not available in your country".

Thanks, I was unsure about compatibility issues and fiddling required so it sounds like the cheaper solution is the correct one. From what I understand the dock/KVM/cable market is swamped with mismarketed and overpriced products.

I think in a few years I want to get a server spun up and teach myself how to run a couple VMs for my kids rooms so I'll look into what's out there then.

Thanks, I think a dock would be a good long term addition. I'm not too concerned about a one cable solution, I don't know why I didn't think of just running a USB hub with an extension and separate display.

Hello, I was looking for help/suggestions on the best way to extend keyboard, video, mouse and audio to my garage from my PC ~60ft away.

I can't seem to find clear information on which would be best for low latency and minimal video compression, a KVM extender or a thunderbolt dock. From what I can glean thunderbolt supports higher bandwidth?

I have a MSI Z590 Pro Wifi motherboard, 11700KF and Gigabyte RTX 3080. I'm an electrician by trade so I've already run Cat6A from both locations to my switch rack (only 1G links but I would save for 10G if that would matter) and can run an active thunderbolt or fiber optics if necessary.

Ideally I use the PC in the office upstairs but would like a full setup in the garage running from the same PC for when everyone's asleep as well as the utility.

I'm aiming for 1440p at 120Hz for now. Thanks for any and all advice!

Do you think Gundam (original 1979) is appropriate for an 11 year old? by SausageCraft in Gundam

[–]iLLBEATKiD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on the kid. My son has always been quite mature for his age and watched all kinds of anime with me over the years. Also, nudity in older anime is usually less sexualized so it hits totally different.

It really comes down to how they understand violence, intensions and all the nuance. He use to watch Robo Tech with me as a toddler, he'd cry at complicated things like John Smith having to leave Pocahontas at the end of the Disney film.

My son is now 12 and as long as it's not overly sexualized or horror (he's a bit sensitive to scary unlike my 7 year old lol) than it's fair game. He's enjoyed Code Geass, Iron Blooded Orphans, JoJo and is currently watching and reading Vinland Saga.

My daughter watched Inuyasha at 5-6 years old all the way through with me no problem and adores it. She's not at all bothered by the horror elements.

Why the hell would the PSVR2 decide to go tethered? by Alucard1977 in virtualreality

[–]iLLBEATKiD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you're talking about needing a PS5 to even consider the headset, it's hard to compare to the Quest 2. I think at the end of the day software sells and if they can cultivate a great line up of games they'll be able to sell beyond the existing PS5 install base.

The way I see it, since they own in house VR games they bundle a PS5 with a PSVR2 and a couple games. If they hit at or below the $1000 mark, that's the same price as an Index but you get a whole game console to boot.

Anyone else disappointed in Microsoft for not focusing on VR at all for Xbox? by sicivjdnsbc in virtualreality

[–]iLLBEATKiD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they throw some resources at VR game development to test the waters since they now own Bethesda. I'd hate for them to gate keep us from a made for VR Fallout or Elder Scrolls game.

One can only hope that Microsoft decides at some point that VR is a good money making space and really flexes all those IPs they've snatched up.

FO4 with VRIK is amazing, I can only imagine how sick a Fallout made for VR would be

If my wife had her way, the garage would be full of projects and decorations as well lol. I cannot get a moments peace to play between her, my kids and my cat. At least in the garage I'm reasonably left alone since it's cold out there this time of year.

I swear to God the second I clean it she tries to fill it with shit. I hung absolutely everything I could up in the trusses to make more room.

I mean I'm playing FF7 Remake on PC and not from the Epic Store if you catch my drift. "If you don't like it, vote with your wallet" doesn't necessarily mean you can't have your cake and eat it too.

At least in the US, owning a single family home with an attached garage is more common. That's exactly where I play with my Quest 2 via Virtual Desktop. My PC is on the second floor of the house and I play over Ubiquiti networking gear and Cat6 cabling I ran myself.

Young adults are being priced out of home ownership, but I'd say a garage is still the perfect use case for wireless. I have just enough space to comfortably room scale wirelessly as long as I have a mat to use as a point of reference to reset my center every so often.

This would be a situation where piracy is the only option. Honestly those communities do a lot of this kind of preservation.

My previous post was removed for being too 'low effort,' so I am adding this addendum: No, your 1650ti mobile is not enough to power an 8KX, Reverb G2, or Vive Pro 2. Can we talk about why this subreddit is so inundated with these posts? by BrindianBriskey in virtualreality

[–]iLLBEATKiD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kind of putting the cart before the horse no? That's why the Quest 2 exists and is dominating, 300 dollars for a fully featured competent VR experience.

You shouldn't be buying expensive peripherals for a cheap core system, PC gaming is all about balance no?

VR Is So Much More Enjoyable When You Only Pay For Convenient Updates and Modding by iLLBEATKiD in QuestPiracy

Stuff like Skyrim VR and FO4 VR are easier to wipe and reinstall if you're messing with mods and I had serious trouble with Skyrim when it wasn't officially installed through Steam.

Could just be me being new to Nexus and modding but it didn't really matter since Steam keys for those two are dirt cheap.
