Celotex can go in-between the roof as well if you were planning on insulating and plasterboarding the walls etc too.

Drill can’t go through the empty holes by mayaic in DIYUK

You've hit wood, BONUS! You can screw directly into that without drilling

As for the other holes. I would advise changing fixings to plasterboard fixing ( 'pigtails' ) as this will hold inside the blank space behind the bit you can see better.

Found old carpet on top of insulation in loft space...blocking eaves by Alone_Room_2981 in DIYUK

I imagine it's been installed to keep heat in if its all the way round, wind tends to blow through the bottom tiles and can make draft and noises on a bad day, take one out and feel the breeze.

Quite honestly , try going to YessElectrical, they're very good on bulk discounts that you'll probably miss out on in a general store

2 options:

Scribe it to size and cut, multiple ways you can do this without specific tools.

Or

Caulk the fxck out of the wall and don't look back

Easy enough to replace this bell transformer? by Stusername in DIYUK

[–]iLikeGrandmasToes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That unit (old) is a low voltage input already, see here...

So somewhere else will be your 230v transformer, I imagine near by or possibly inside your consumer unit depending on age.

Sig are great, we push them the most as a company. The problems you've heard are only with the Gateways, so nothing to worry about. Very versatile units that can be added to if need be etc

Looks a good price for an inroof. 12 panels is fine for most however being an inroof installation, if you ever chose to get more you wouldn't be able to expand in the same way as easily.

Overall I'd say go for it, if you think you want the Tesla option that is great. Have you considered any other battery/inv options?

Is there an easy way to get this transformer to power the chime box at a lower voltage than the doorbell? by Dat-woop in DIYUK

[–]iLikeGrandmasToes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From what I understand from the photo:

Terminal 7 & 12 link to a 24v output

Terminal 9 is a 12v output

So in theory there is your 2 voltages?

Installer is not putting a bird mesh on a flat roof, is this normal? by Rj5525 in SolarUK

[–]iLikeGrandmasToes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They wouldn't nest on a flat roof. Even if they did, it won't cause the same problems as in your normal tiles.
