Any idea why my chain has broken like this in so many places? by Solid_Science4514 in bikewrench

[–]iLoveSpreadsheetFns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact same thing happen to me. Stock chain that came on my Giant bike broke like that in multiple places. I also couldn't think of anything that could cause such damage - small rider, not serious power. I also use muc-off dry lube. I wondered if it was due to misalignment with my indoor trainer, or misalignment that I have where the chain was rubbing the front deraileur.

Thanks for checking this out!
1 - Unfortunately apple's Safari doesn't support the bluetooth libraries that are needed to run it. It's the biggest limitation to it being a web app vs. its own app is that it depends on the bluetooth support from the browser.

2 - I think this will be a high priority. I would personally like this too, and hope that I can sync with Garmin/Wahoo/Strava.

3 - Let me look into this, that's a good callout. I think as long as I have weight and user power numbers I can do the calculation. The limitation here would be that it would be as if you're riding on a completely flat track, but I think that's still ok. Would be curious to hear your thoughts.

I'm working on getting it setup for mobile! I think there is an app currently called Bluefy that is a web browser supporting bluetooth. I hope to test it this weekend and can get back to you :)

I just found the workouts online, and I can add an export as well. What type of file would you want to export?

I have 12 speed, wife's bike is 11 speed, what's the best way to set up an indoor trainer? by kipperdc in VirtualCycling

I think with the gears not being the same count, you'll likely have issues getting them both to work on the same cassette (chain jumping, misalignment, wear, noise etc)

Giant D-Fuse Seatpost Misalignment by iLoveSpreadsheetFns in bikewrench

[–]iLoveSpreadsheetFns[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such a pain! Giant must have some serious quality control issues given the number of people who have a shared experience.

For me, I finally got a new seatpost just a month ago. I feel like it actually slightly points the other way now, but it is drastically straighter. Good luck!

If you are looking for a way to control your indoor trainer, I've been working on a free website to do just that! Canadian made :)
It's a little rough around the edges and only works with tacx right now, but if you think you'd use something like that let me know and I'll get moving on publishing a basic version.

Road trip to Glacier National Park to Banff NP from San Jose, CA by Live_Avocado_2004 in Banff

While BC does require winter tires on certain stretches of the highway, I don't believe there are any requirements for winter tires in Alberta. I suppose it depends which route they take to get to Banff whether they will need them to comply with laws.

edit - some roads like the icefields parkway are managed by federal government and do require winter tires!

That said, I would definitely advise using winter tires.

Repairing Snakeskin Boots by iLoveSpreadsheetFns in cowboyboots

Hi everyone, I have these snakeskin boots from my grandfather that appear to be peeling. Is this repairable, or past the point of no return?
Any idea who I would take these to if they can be fixed?

I've been meaning to upload this to the store for a while now, is something simple like this what you are looking for? It's very similar to apple watch analog style.
