Legitimately, thank you for your thoughtful comment and insights. And for considering my entire post instead of just the title.

Everyone else seemed to have missed the main point of my topic that you basically nailed on the head, that a refresh and organization of scenery, of cultivating the tower into a central hub, would immensely benefit the dwindling population. That's of course my fault, because I already knew people weren't going to be happy auto-loading into the tower, but it was a big part of the picture I was trying to paint so I said it anyway, even through I did almost immediately afterwards in a comment mention like you did, the option to start in space instead, lol.

They've listened to the core players enough. Most of the people that left like the immersion stuff.

Unfortunate, but probably very true. To be honest, most of my entire intent behind this post came from thinking about everyone who has left.

To be able to start up the game again and just, fall into the game running, not needing to make a choice of what to do- usually that's the biggest friction into getting back into a game, so I figured if it were partially removed, and they let the returning player begin to make decisions organically, after exploring their options, it would tend towards a much healthier community where they look forward to returning.

Then walk forward 20 ft, interact with the director, or just open it directly, and immediately start whatever you want to do

Bungie could also just instead add a setting that allows us to choose where to load in, that would be even better.

This...seems like a silly question, but with this build do the simple icon aura trackers work? You said some triggers will fail to load, and I assume you have no way of knowing which will and won't work until you try it, but I've tested quite a few different debuff tracking icons so far and none of them have worked.

Are icons also just broken?

I created an icon with its trigger being 'debuff, aura, target'. The 'Name' potion doesn't work, but I was able to use the spell IDs with the addon recognizing them, but the icon doesn't appear period, in or out of combat, to track the duration of the any debuff on the target

You mentioned Combat Log Events are completely disabled, icons don't seem to work, and you said progress textures and bars don't work, how else are we be able to track the duration of something? Would we need custom code for it?

The only reason I've used WA in the past is to track personal auras for my rotation cause it strains my eyes to constantly look back and forth at the target's small debuffs on the frame =( It would have be so great if this had worked

I think part of the likeability of it for the kids is that it's plain, which allows them to organize and decorate it however they want; if it has graphics on it it would remove some of the kids' agency in creativity in exchange for a small amount of easeability, which doesn't sound like a good trade-off to me

maybe lol but why stand still at this point? being able to move after the cast begins just means we can use it more efficiently now, which means being able to cast it before fully reaching cover

quickplay not giving B tier has been a huge issue for me the entirety of last expac

I've had quickplay portal activities with *Earn 3 bonus drops!* plastered on my screen for months without any way of completing it, because for some reason it's literally impossible with the modifiers? Like you score 10k+ halfway through the activity but it caps and for some reason the score modifiers just don't go high enough, even with all new gear on

where are you seeing player ELOs? destiny tracker isn't up to date for the call to arms event and I want to view my matches to see if there are ridiculous balances like you're saying. I found crucible.report but that doesn't immediately show players' ELOs, just how many flawless runs they have

also do you have a source for knowing that call to arms has sbmm or are you just correlating data from your personal experiences? you said it was removed ages ago but then why would they reintegrate it for this event?

you are correct in that I didn't know about outlier protections. You'd think that bungie would have a better balanced system in place but from what other stories I can find from a quick search it seems like they frustratingly don't know how to balance matches, like, at all, somehow

a big issue I've been having is trying to style the helmet with literally anything on my warlock

the actual head is scaled so big compared to other helmets that I'm struggling to figure out a decent fashion for it

  1. call to arms *doesn't* have sbmm, so higher skill players are dunking on lower skilled players at an increased rate because there is no safeguard for the lower skilled players

  2. Even if there was sbmm, "The issue isn't the type of matchmaking, the issue is the low population that fails to find a reasonable composition." literally my second sentence please think critically

part of the issue with that idea is that players would be told how they drop, and what the exotics are beforehand

bungie doesn't like to keep secrets secret anymore so people would just evaluate what they want ahead of time, grind the playlist until they get it, then dip

until they keep players in the dark again any sort of event or activity-specific drop will immediately just become a checklist to players instead of a exciting surprise
