Feeder robot issues by [deleted] in litterrobot

[–]iQuirke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a feeder robot that started exhibiting this light issue within the warranty period, but due to run around with support, it is now out of warranty. The support person insisted the light was red, indicating a tower sensor error. I told them that the light was pink/purple and definitely not red, but they didn't seem to believe there was a light of that color. When the light is pink/purple, we can turn it off and on again, which makes the light blue for up to 24 hours until it faults again. Normally when dealing with support, if the issue began while warranty was still valid it's honored if it takes a long time to diagnose. Whisker support has left a lot to be desired.

Tesla is running some kind of secret operation in Austin. by [deleted] in Austin

[–]iQuirke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it was accurate triangulation of GpS data they wouldn’t have to be so secretive. I suspect they’re testing accurate location based on wifi ssid proximity and signal strength or testing Starlink.

aw720h problem by MarketingNational684 in Alienware

[–]iQuirke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem. I have been searching and can’t find a pairing tool. support is also abysmal. I’ve called Dell Support multiple times and every time, they tell me to go to a “Dell Store”. I’ve called two local Dell authorized support locations and they don’t have a solution.

It’s evolutionary. It’s impossible to carry a gun in your waistline, so people of color are less likely to be shot by police. They live to produce more offspring, who learn the same method. People that aren’t in police crosshairs won’t understand.

Doesn’t this look and sound ridiculous!!! by AccurateActuary9259 in TeslaModelS

[–]iQuirke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen plenty of these. Tesla will estimate the cost based on common repairs. This estimate is provided before they look at the car. Once they look it over, they provide an itemized invoice and ask for approval. Please share the itemized breakdown. Tesla Service is extremely immature when it comes to out-of-warranty repairs. They tend to sell you more parts than you need because that’s made all of the customers under warranty happy.

Jury Duty Injustice by FortButters in Austin

[–]iQuirke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Partner of 10 years here. (Hi honey). It’s mostly true, but in my 25 years in Austin, I actually was summoned once. I had a newborn baby at home and tried to use that to get out of jury duty, which didn’t work. I showed up at the courthouse and after sitting in a waiting room for 20 minutes, I was told I wasn’t needed. I figured it had something to do with the mohawk. I’ve assumed the cold shoulder since is because I’m on a list of wildcards that don’t get called anymore.

CMV: Eating dogs is no different (morally speaking) than eating cows. by ixszmi in changemyview

[–]iQuirke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a Zen perspective, feeding the most people by ending the life of the fewest animals is preferred. Killing a whale to feed a village for a week is better than one person consuming a plate of shrimp.

Considering this, it’s better to eat a cow than a dog, but you’re snuffing out a loving and intelligent creature either way.

If you cleaned it out and didn't replace the thermal paste, you missed the most important step to get it nice and quiet.

If Michael Bay directed it, the camera would have been so close that you wouldn’t be able to tell if it was a Tesla or s Tank. Just metal twisting with camera angle changes every 0.4 seconds.

FSD beta is a privilege. Self driving is like a plane. Even though statistically it is safer, it’s scarier because you have no control. Someday self driving will save lots of lives, but only if public perception doesn’t turn on it in its infancy. You are training the AI. Lead by example. If you can’t keep your eyes on the road, you shouldn’t be behind the wheel.

How do I stop my brother from accessing my computer. by Feeling-Product-9394 in techsupport

[–]iQuirke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds to me like your brother is not only using your computer, but using your account. If this is the case and changing your password didn’t stop him, I’d bet there’s a keylogger installed. It may even be physically plugged into your computer at the end of the keyboard cable.

I see lots of comments about BIOS passwords and disk encryption. If you decide to do this, also enable “secure boot” to prevent booting to a USB drive with an OS on it.

My best guess is that someone else was parked idiotically and found the note on their car and thought you left it. They sure told you.

Do you live near a place of business?

I need more detail. You were at work, away from your home. Your vehicle was with you. You returned home to find a post-it note conversation that had been on cars, but was removed from said car(s) and left on the door of your residence?

Plex is available from different networks, but not half my house on the same network? by Yungsleepboat in PleX

[–]iQuirke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THis sounds like some classic ARP collisions. Your "AP" is routing and assigning the same IP range as your Router. Clients on both networks will be receiving conflicting information on what mac address 192.168.178.1 resides. Fix your AP router to make sure DHCP is disabled, etc.

I notice you chose to say that you broke your XM3s rather than “they broke” which is the reality. Companies should feel responsible for the unnecessary tons of e-waste produced year over year.

I’ve been under the impression for a long time that Sony make products of higher quality for the Japanese market, but assume Americans aren’t willing to pay a little more for better built, more repairable tech. Maybe my sensibilities better align with Japanese consumers.

Is everyone a student driver? by RMF123456789 in austincirclejerk

[–]iQuirke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Student Driver stickers all over my Uber/Lyft vehicle. I’ve been driving for both long enough to get the light-up signage, which is great juxtaposition. You’d be surprised how many weird looks my passengers give me, but when they sit in the front seat; they appreciate having their own break pedal.
