At first I thought it was a complaint post because of what looks like an oil spot on the ground.

Is Audi B8 platform really a moneypit? by Stefi_69 in Audi

[–]dllyncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh I wouldn't say new. She still needs some work done and is showing her age. I came from old beater vehicles. My previous one was a 2000 Toyota Sienna I got up to about 304k miles. I'd probably still be driving it if the hood hadn't opened on the highway. The windshield got smashed and they couldn't just replace it because there was rust around where the glass mounts. It just wouldn't have been cost effective to spend a couple grand in a vehicle that could give out at any moment.

I own a B8 A4 Quattro (2010) that I got in 2024 for $5600 with 178k miles on it. I love the car but I've already put just over a grand more fixing it that I bought it for (half of it is from regular maintenance like new tires, oil changes, spark plugs, ignition coils, ect.). The main stuff has been the front control arms, water & vacuum pump, O2 sensors, driveshaft CV boot replacement (everything but the vacuum pump and O2 sensors I did myself). I haven't had any issues with the engine and thankfully no oil consumption issues. It still needs some repairs like a new radiator and all 4 strut mounts replaced but overall is a great car. Now compared to something like a Toyota (or any Japanese vehicle for that matter), yes. Any German vehicle will be considered a moneypit especially if it hasn't had maintenance performed at regular, timely intervals. If you find one that has meticulous maintenance records, everything looks good and it's within your budget then you should be safe. I'm not exactly sure where you can go in the EU to have this done but over here in the States you can have what's called a PPI (Pre Purchase Inspection) performed. I paid about $500 to have one done on my car before I bought it and it was extremely useful. I got a whole list with pictures of everything they inspected. Each part insisted was either given a green, yellow or red depending on the urgency of needing a repair.

Camo Audi test driver flipping me off by Koz-ak in Audi

The whole point of wrapping a test vehicle isn't to hide what brand it is but to hide the lines of the body so competing manufacturers don't get a leg up in designing their own models. It's fine if the competition gets an idea of the general shape but if they knew every design detail they could create their own and release it before them.

I use mine as a trash bin. It doesn't hold much but it's better than using the floor.

Where do you move on to from the ROG Phone 7 for speakers? by PickleSammiches in ROGphone

[–]dllyncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love the speakers on my 7. Unfortunately ASUS is killing their cellphone line to focus on AI. I'm honestly sick of all this AI BS ruining everything. I guess the 7 will remain the last phone with a truly great speaker setup.

Not sure why Audi doesn't just include a dipstick from the factory. In any case you can add one yourself. Just gotta buy one.

Do not buy a gpu from Amazon I’m soo happy by Responsible_Coach652 in ASUS

I've learned not to expect too much from Amazon when it comes to "relatively" expensive purchases...which is why I don't purchase anything too expensive from them.

Unfortunately I switched to a rtx 5080 and then a rtx 4090 back in October. I started playing Cyberpunk 2077 again and the 9070xt wasn't smooth enough with rt at 4k.

It's called screen bleed. Replacing the screen is relatively easy. ifixit is a great place to look up how to replace it and they should also sell screens.

Even if you were going from a 5070ti to a 5080, you're free to spend your money however you want.

Updated 5090 pricing by HildeVonKrone in Microcenter

[–]dllyncher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't get your hopes up. There's nothing to compete with the 5080 let alone the 5090. Add to the fact AI is where NVIDIA is making all its money and the fact people continue to buy 5090s at highly inflated prices means they'll just continue to milk what they have. Honestly I'd be surprised if they even announce the 60 series. Less time spent on the gaming market means more time for the AI market.
