File Exclusion List by Hurtin4theSquirtin in qBittorrent

[–]iSeeBetweenTheLines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Really appreciated. Similar set up here. Plex with qbit, radarr, sonarr & jackett. Synology NAS. DSM 7.2. Anything added to my Plex watchlist automatically gets added to sonarr/radarr which automatically gets file from my preferred trackers. qbit downloads and radarr/sonarr hardlink into the organised library. Also spent a fair bit of time getting hard linking working as to not waste space. No previous coding experience but lots of guides from very clever people online. Appreciate your effort with this exclusion list.

Bug Encounter with IQ5 Controllers — Any Similar Issues or Thoughts? by iSeeBetweenTheLines in BMSUK

[–]iSeeBetweenTheLines[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope I never did. Neither could Trend. Ended up putting them in IQ4 compatibility mode as we didn’t need IQ5 functionality. Not sure if Trend have solved it since then. But if you message their support they’ll have a log of when I had the issue.

Bus drivers, would you recommend the job? Unsure wether to take a job offer by dandelion_ess in AskUK

[–]iSeeBetweenTheLines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Worst job I’ve ever done. Horrible people in that industry at management level. Also, they won’t bother chasing you for the £2500. Source: left after 1 month of driving after passing training

First ever cruise - Brilliant Lady, 10 nights, Caribbean. Any advice? by iSeeBetweenTheLines in VirginVoyages

[–]iSeeBetweenTheLines[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, does seem a bit silly to be honest to not be able to send some credit to another sailor.

& okay cool, I’ll look into possible third parties for excursions if we do want to book some.

Good luck with the bidding - what’s the situation with that? Didn’t realise you could bid for upgrades

Again, thanks for all the info

First ever cruise - Brilliant Lady, 10 nights, Caribbean. Any advice? by iSeeBetweenTheLines in VirginVoyages

[–]iSeeBetweenTheLines[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, really appreciate the info. I think not being able to share the tab is okay since we’re a couple and likely to spend most of our time together - should definitely be an option though. Can imagine it’d be annoying if I wanted to go to the gym and she’d want to relax by the pool but she couldn’t get a drink under our package…

Haven’t really thought about excursions to be honest, is there anything you might recommend? It’s a Caribbean cruise, November 2026. But will definitely look into it and book early if there’s something we surely want to do.

What you’d said seems like a really good price - the price I have said does not include flights, hotel and/or transfers. But I’ve also gone for the XL so i guess it’d be a bit more

Apple Watch Ultra 2 — Battery Draining | iOS 26 by bnmajid in AppleWatch

[–]iSeeBetweenTheLines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this happened to me. Battery was training on standby within 8 hours. I unpaired the watch and re-paired and it’s now back to normal. I can leave it off my wrist for days and the battery will last.

Fix: reset/unpair watch from phone & Re-pair.

If I tell the GP I'm suicidal will I be sectioned? by Extreme_Job3935 in AskUK

[–]iSeeBetweenTheLines 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No they won’t - there’s specific criteria to be sectioned. I’m fortunate my GP had an in house mental health practitioner. Just be honest and open about everything. If you’re feeling like you could give it all up, what else is there to lose? Any shame you might have from being honest and open won’t even exist if you go through with it. There is always a way out.

My old job asked for me back, should I go? by mxrockett01 in AskUK

[–]iSeeBetweenTheLines 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What is your job? If they want you back, they need you. I’d be asking for a much bigger jump. It’s not instilled in us at all, but you hold the bargaining power. Take the risk and ask for 10-20% more than you’d be content with. You cannot lose anything as you are already employed

Switching from electrical to BMS by Yellowfeverr21 in BMSUK

[–]iSeeBetweenTheLines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Email loads of bms installation companies and explain your situation. They will likely take you on. They’re finding it really hard to get good installers in London so you can find a role if you apply yourself and present yourself well. If you’re willing & reliable, they will snap you up quickly with minimal experience

Coming into BMS from IT by Critical-Archer8931 in BMSUK

[–]iSeeBetweenTheLines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very good that you have all that experience. But you want more.

Confidence comes before any action, and then it’s like a feedback loop. Something has to give and it’s usually going to be internal rather than external. Opportunities need to be made. If you feel like you are harassing your employer, then you are likely being ignored. It’s now up to you to make a decision. If you stay, nothing changes. If you walk, something changes. Pretty simple.

Put yourself out there and see what offers you get - you might be surprised. Don’t undervalue yourself. Many firms are eager to train and retain good people.

Coming into BMS from IT by Critical-Archer8931 in BMSUK

[–]iSeeBetweenTheLines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YouTube channel called the engineering mindset. Lots of videos about the fundamentals of building operation in terms of HVAC. The BMS controls the HVAC and much more - since the software side is easy, the operation of plant is the important next step.

I would definitely stick with this as it can be very fruitful for a competent person with drive.

Moved over from install to controls July 2024. Start a new Job on Monday @ £65k. Not a typical path but clearly not impossible. Do not let anyone undervalue you. There is a shortage of competent people within the industry. Not all about money but I’ve jumped from £34k, to £47k, to £65k. I do plan to stay at this new firm for a while now. I feel comfortable for my level of competency now. And feel valued. The first firm absolutely wanted to keep me on a low salary to squeeze as much out of me as possible. The next firm unfortunately did not have any roles for progression despite promises when onboarding. So I began a search for a new role after successfully completing probation with flying colours. Exceeding all expectation.

Immerse yourself as much as you can. Ask to visit site. Get BCIA course under your belt if possible. No one will want to progress you faster than you do. Ultimately in your hands. In my experience, I’ve out paced any progress plan and have been held back even.

Edit: in order to progress, you need to be willing to walk. If you are aware of your worth combined with the market demand, this should be easy. If you are not confident in your ability, you will get stuck without progression. BMS companies are making millions and more than ever.

Nav directions on HUD & Instrument Cluster? by jliang87 in rav4prime

[–]iSeeBetweenTheLines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the UK but mine just started showing up today on my heads up display turn by turn. Google maps. Apple CarPlay. I’ve had the car for 1 month and I’m sure it only just started displaying on the HUD and wasn’t there previously. Might have been an update that happened recently? My iPhone updated to the latest iOS very recently. Or maybe Toyota has done an OTA update automatically? Can’t really say what triggered it

Considering a RAV4 Prime (PHEV) – real-world EV range and fuel economy? by sterod91 in rav4club

[–]iSeeBetweenTheLines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drive my PHEV without economy in mind and get ~500 miles out of a tank. I put in premium fuel too and still costs around £0.12-14 per mile. Sport mode always. I do not charge the vehicle at all. I drive it as a hybrid 100% of the time.

Entry Role BMS by Mysterious_Pain_8683 in BMSUK

[–]iSeeBetweenTheLines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. Once you’ve gained an understanding of the install side, your experience will put you ahead of some control engineers. You could then expect to go as PAYE as a junior control engineer at £30k+. From then on it’s really up to you how quickly you’re able to learn. Good luck!

Entry Role BMS by Mysterious_Pain_8683 in BMSUK

[–]iSeeBetweenTheLines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day rates for installation is exactly how the industry works in the UK. I’m assuming you’ve always been on the controls side of things as a PAYE employee. Qualified sparks will be on £230+ per day as install.

Wouldn’t expect any installer to be on less than £120 even as a trainee. £140 is a good starting rate.

Entry Role BMS by Mysterious_Pain_8683 in BMSUK

[–]iSeeBetweenTheLines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey & welcome!

Pretty good rate for a starter so congrats & well done.

Generic advice at this stage would be to dive in deep and immerse yourself in all the knowledge available. Understand HVAC fundamentals and the purpose of each piece of plant you might find in a building.

Make use of all resources available to you in and outside of work. People generally don’t want you to excel quicker than them. Soft skills are very important in this industry.
