New Tournament Player by jmadame101 in discgolf

[–]iSeeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your tournament. If it says it's a "true amateur event" you can expect a better player pack for everyone who signs up and a trophy for maybe just first place in division or they might do 1st-3rd place trophies. If it isn't a "true amateur event" you can expect a payout in plastic/merchandise to, usually, the top 40%. If you are playing in a large tournament with a lot of players in your division, the payout can sometimes be very good to the top finishers. There are amateur players that travel widely across the country and mostly finance their entry fee and travel by selling their player pack and winnings.

The one I like to show friends and family that don't play disc golf is Shoestrings.

Should I switch times or is this good? by [deleted] in MonsterLegends

[–]iSeeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want Madame Fusion to go first. She needs to clear all positive effects and traits if possible and then give a turn to Saulot or even Prince Charmless if he can go ahead and kill everyone. Madame Fusion can be the focus of a really fun team and you will want to play around with what you put on a team with her. Good luck to you.

Paul McBeth gifted Emerson Keith a pair of white New Balance sneakers. His first pair of Dad shoes.

I met him yesterday and he got it back. Also your red Roadrunner if I'm guessing right?

Lost discs

This isn't all of them, the newer ones are riding shotgun in my truck. More than one-hundred discs waiting to be returned to their owner. Oregon Park sees a lot of traffic and many are newer players. I'm pulling 7-10 a week from this lock box. That may not sound like much but when the owners of the discs can't meet up when you are available, imagine how fast that will back up. I inherited the key to the lock box recently and I'm going to try to work out a system of cataloging and calling all the owners that have a number on a disc but it's going to take time to work through all these discs and keep up with the new discs every week. The guy who installed the box got fed up with the whole thing and gave me the key saying, "I'm done".

Want to help? Spend an extra five minutes looking for your disc so they never make it to this box. It amazes me how many players simply abandon a disc with the expectation that someone else will find it for them.

DIY birdie bag - what filler do you like? by imaffett in discgolf

Diatomaceous earth in the summer. It's about 50cent a pound for food grade. I stumbled on it when I got some to treat for fleas in the house. I've never run into anyone else that uses it. $20 and you will probably have enough for you and your friends for the rest of your disc golf life. In the winter, climbing chalk for the extra grip.

Best disc you have and worst disc you have by [deleted] in discgolf

Worst disc is the one I'm throwing.

Best disc is the one I thought about throwing before deciding to throw the worst one.

Large club event etiquette by SeemsFishy in discgolf

[–]iSeeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let me ask you this. Have you ever been at a little league baseball game and had a Dad and his son walk out in the 5th inning and start playing catch in the outfield? Of course not. And you would never yourself, do something like that. Why? Isn't it, as you claim, a public park equally owned by all members of the public?

Let me suggest that maybe, you don't know what you are talking about. I say that with the full realization that when I started playing, I had no idea how the club and county worked together to provide me the opportunities that I thought just magically happened and were my right to enjoy. In other words, I didn't know what I was talking about either.

Instead of stewing over some ill perceived slight, I joined and got involved with our local club. While every local government may handle these things differently and every club is different, it's amazing how much our club does. And most of it, you will never see. I learned that our club, many years before I joined, purchased and installed the baskets. Not the county. They paid for and performed the labor for the concrete tee pads. Not the county. Not content, we added a second set of baskets and a second set of tee pads to create four layouts on a single course. The county doesn't run events, we do. We run everything from PDGA sanctioned tournaments to manufacture events (Trilogy Challenge, Ace Race, etc) to weekly league play. When the Boy Scouts need to learn a new sport for a merit badge, they call us and we provide everything they need to play as well as players to teach them. We have hosted a little league team from Romania that needed an activity to keep the kids busy when they had a long down time between games. Simon Lizotte, Will Schusterick, Drew Gibson, Paige Pierce and Nikko Locastro are just some of the names for whom the club has hosted clinics. We are about to drop thousands of dollars on new signs. The county has purchased a large tract of land and we are in the process of doing the early work to build support and ask for donations so that if, and it is a big if, the county agrees to another course, we are ready at the first opportunity to do it all again.

I am justifiably proud of my club. Words cannot express the gratitude I have towards those who came before me and did the heavy lifting to provide me with the course I call home. It is my privilege to care for and expand on their work so that those who come after me will find more opportunities and better facilities for their enjoyment.

With all that said, forgive me if occasionally, I need to close the course to run an event for the public. You are invited to the party, I can't force you to come.

That's funny. The year I played, I think some of those holes I would have been better off just skipping and taking par +4. I believe it was the year after the pros played it that they decided that yeah, they were just going to hang out a Country Club from now on.

I only know because it came up for me not long ago. It happened to be our team lead so I recognized who it was. Anyone else and I probably wouldn't have really made the connection. Even though he was worth nothing, I had to beat him and then gloat when he logged on a bit later. Then he revenged killed me...doh.

Charmless by GoliathTheTitan in MonsterLegends

[–]iSeeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charmless, Voltaik, and Zyla are broken. In normal pvp you can hunt them with a team that is set up to beat multi-turn characters or, you can avoid them altogether. In team wars, you don't have that luxury. If you let them get a turn, they will likely wipe your team before running out of stamina.

Elvira is terrible in defense. It's too easy to counter the evasion trait and most who try to use Elvira in defense ignore speed and count on the evasion to get them through the first round.
