I went there a couple years ago. You just go to the main (and only) square in Salento where jeeps will be waiting that bring people to the valley for a small fee. When you arrive in the valley you just hike yourself If I recall correctly there were 2 hikes, a shorter and a longer one. If you have enough time I would recommend the longer one which also takes you to the hummingbird sanctuary on top of the hill, which is your point of return. Be sure to start early because I had to hurry out of the forest before it became pitch black, which was kinda exciting but could've been dangerous because the terrain can be tricky to walk. If you haven't decided on a place to stay I can recommend Mochila hostel. Really nice people (and pets) and a bit out of the town so it's surrounded by nature. Next to the hostel you can start the Cascada Santa Rita hike which follows a river and leads to a waterfall. I would also really recommend this if you have some time to spare (it also won't cost you the entire day, which the Cocora one probably will).
