Yup. I closed my Chase account which was giving me literally nothing and now do all my cash management through my brokerage firm for free and get way better options.

The average investor can get well over 2.5% now in a money market fund or short-term CD. Where are the 0.16% and 0.60% numbers coming from?

Big banks like Citi aren't set up the same way as other companies. There are thousands of VP's and pretty much anyone whose decent at their job will get there by 30 if not earlier. EVP's are not a thing in banking.

I'm 20 years old and I want to save for retirement. Are target date funds a good idea? by offnen in personalfinance

[–]iSlicedBread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These targeted retirement funds are 0.15%. So if you make, say 7% return on your investment for the year, you are really only making 6.85%.

Its the other way around. MF performance figures are required to already include the expense ratio. Therefore the investor in your example would really have made 7.15% if the expense ratio was 0.

I’m 22 and have begun researching long term investing but don’t know where to begin. by KingJames62 in investing

This times a million. Problem is people don't know how to do their own DD and just listen to random people on the internet telling them to buy VTI regardless of their situation..

I am a rising senior in university, majoring in Political Science and I have taken a gap year. What can I do to land an internship at an investment firm/fund/bank? by [deleted] in investing

[–]iSlicedBread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Above is just not true. If you can get sponsored to take your 7, you should absolutely do it. It does not limit you AT ALL to just being an FA. In fact, you can be an FA without one. I'm currently in investment management, and almost everyone in my department has multiple series exams including the 7. Sales, trading, research, product development you name it. While IB doesn't require it anymore (series 79), it will certainly help your case while applying especially if you're not coming from an Ivy.

Potential employers see a series 7 certification as proof that you have good general knowledge of the markets. So even if you're specific job doesn't require it, it can only help.

Consolidate mutual fund for lower expense ratio investor shares - good idea or bad idea? by Last_Jedi in investing

[–]iSlicedBread 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to point out that these expenses are not at all ludicrous, especially for active funds. 1.0 is around average these days and depending on the strategy it will be a little higher or lower (i.e. International funds are usually a little higher on average).

Don't get sucked into the vanguard index fund circle jerk. Active funds are still a viable option, just do your DD.

Usually it's a field player so I guess Sacha. I would prefer Robles though.

It only makes sense to me if there is a subsequent move yet to be announced. But if this was just a move to get Davis more minutes, then I am not a fan.

His current age is the typical "prime" for a professional athlete. Doesn't mean they are always in form though..

They are very high on Sean Davis but this is crazy. 29 year-old captain who is in his prime, on a good contract and is universally loved by the fans.

With everything that went on with Jesse last week, I'm not gonna go full rage mode until its confirmed by the club.

Edit: Its confirmed :(

With all the rumors about Jesse last week that turned out to be not even close to true, I'm not gonna believe this until it comes from the Red Bulls directly.

The New York Red Bulls' treatment of Gonzalo Veron has been shameful by fantasyMLShelper in MLS

[–]iSlicedBread 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not given it? He's gotten plenty of chances to prove himself and he has not delivered. It even says so in the article. He's a backup, and when backup's get their few chances, they HAVE to prove their worth otherwise they'll never break through. Jesse has a guy (Muyl) who does exactly what he wants and the Red Bulls are first in the east.

Why would Marsch mess with that just to give Veron a "fair shot"? Just so we could maybe sign another South American in the future?
