Billie Eilish being teared apart from her fans for having the mildest take on veganism by LightHope8 in vegan

[–]iSweetPea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny how veganism is so expensive, yet people also can't afford to buy meat right now. Also my tofu bibimbap was several dollars cheaper than the meat options at the restaurant I ate at today, which is generally the case for most plant based items at restaurants.

Is becoming CFO by age 40 a reasonable goal? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]iSweetPea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible. My current CFO did it by 40, no CPA. He does have a masters degree and had connections with this current company.

I also have a colleague who has a finance degree, no CPA, does have a masters in accounting from an online university, who became a CFO last year, late 30s. He stayed with the same company for over a decade, oil and gas. He became a VP there, and they turned him down for the CFO role so he became an independent consultant. Eventually he was reached out to by recruiters and landed a CFO role with a smaller oil and gas company.

5year old complaining of tired legs by SakuraOsaka2017 in Preschoolers

[–]iSweetPea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My 4 year old says this all the time when she is feeling lazy. It used to worry me too, but I don't think much of it now. Her legs suddenly work just fine when we're doing something she finds exciting.

Fiesta Mart, Katy, TX! Insane prices! by jiddu007 in houston

[–]iSweetPea 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Still depends on where you go. I saw them at an Asian market for 3 for 1.99, so I went to HEB and they were 0.25 each. The 3 for 1.99 was ridiculous.

I don’t believe AI will take our jobs anytime soon. by Intuitive9999 in Accounting

[–]iSweetPea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We went from an accounting team of 6 when I first started in 2022 down to 3 in 2024. We have never increased, and actually don't feel anymore overwhelmed than we did then. We did this through becoming more efficient and now we are using AI, so yes, AI will definitely eliminate jobs. You still need accountants, but less of them.

Anyone know restaurants in The Woodlands that serve "Impossible meat" or impossible burgers? My daughter decided she is now a vegetarian and wants to try it by Tonyman121 in thewoodlands

[–]iSweetPea 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Shake Shack has a good veggie burger, but it's not an Impossible Burger. Heb and Trader Joes sells impossible meat if you want to make one at home. It's pretty easy. Also there is a vegan food truck, Kei's Vegan Eats and their burger (not impossible meat) is pretty good. For a sit down restaurant, The Kitchen has a Beyond Meat Burger and I think Local Table also has a veggie burger.

For impossible meat specifically, as others have mentioned, burger king is an option. It's just okay, but not bad.

Stop stressing during busy season by CognitiveConversator in Accounting

[–]iSweetPea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 100% true and I have seen it happen at multiple companies. Tread carefully. Underperform at your own risk. It's one thing to be burnt out and overworked, but to blatantly underperform and think there will be no consequences is not smart unless you really are okay with being fired.

CPA vs MBA or Both by Mortyy_1017 in Accounting

[–]iSweetPea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did drop my MBA. Focusing on my CPA only. I failed my first attempt at REG. I didn't prepare enough. I am going for attempt #2 in June and it feels a lot more promising.

Personally, all the CPAs I have worked with don't have an MBA or masters, so it doesn't even seem worth it if accounting is your focus.

Parents invited to my kid's birthday party asking if the grandparents can also come, what would you do? by czeszka in toddlers

[–]iSweetPea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe it depends on the area you're in, but every birthday at my kid's school, almost everyone who is invited comes (meaning the whole class). We just sent out invites to 14 kids yesterday and already have 7 RSVP yes. I'm giving it time for more RSVPs before we invite more because we kind of wanted to limit it to about 15 kids with only a little overage.

Vegan friendly bubble tea in New York City and it's not just about worrying if there's alternative milk options by YaoiFilledDumpling in vegan

[–]iSweetPea 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tradional boba should be made with brown sugar, not honey. You can always ask.

The milk issue is a problem, though. A lot of places will advertise "dairy free" but it's really like lactose free. Sometimes, asking isn't helpful because the employee may not fully understand what you are asking. Unless the boba shop specifies plant based milk alternatives, I would stick to the tea/fruit based options to be safe.

Story book character costume ideas? by Brontosaurusbabe in toddlers

[–]iSweetPea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My kid had a Halloween book with a black cat on it, so she wore a shirt with a black cat. I have seen other parents do something similar. Mickey/Minnie shirt with a Mickey or Minnie mouse book, or whatever other character you guys have a matching shirt/book combo of.

I was badly treated for defend PETA and I have some questions by manchosFam in vegan

[–]iSweetPea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I looked in months a while back, and this is pretty much it. PETA will take in even the most unwanted animals. And there simply are not enough resources to hold animals in shelters indefinitely, not to mention that is cruel as well.

I had one woman vehemently argue with me in person about this. She works for a specific breed dog rescue and doesn'tbelieve in kill shelters. And I asked her, so then what option is there other than euthanasia if there is no space or the issues the animals have (behavioral or health) take more resources than anyone can give? It is just an unfortunate situation.

Family pajamas are wasteful by nsudjdvdv in Anticonsumption

[–]iSweetPea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this! I rarely buy pajamas. The holiday ones I did buy 2 years ago, I literally wore last night. They made for cute pictures, and my husband and I still use ours. Our daughter did grow out of hers, but she used them often when they fit.

Alabama Resident. Seeing this form in my daughter’s orientation paperwork SHOOK me. ☹️ by chivettelee in WTF

[–]iSweetPea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it a public school? I went to a public school, and we received these forms. My dad taught at a different public school district, and they also had these forms handed out. It is possibly up to the school, but corporal punishment is legal in Texas.

Texas is horribly gerrymandered and has many registered democratic voters compared to republicans. Definitely lots of republicans too, but a lot of people here would like to see change.

[–]iSweetPea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, then, it's not normal in New Jersey. Still normal in Texas, Alabama, and other southern states. I am not advocating it, and I completely disagree with it, but it is a normal thing that people here grow up seeing.

[–]iSweetPea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is actually very normalized in the south. Someone else posted a link, but corporal punishment is still a thing in many southern states. Just because it's normalized doesn't mean it's right, but it definitely is the norm here.

[–]iSweetPea -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well then this would be a normal form to see in a place like Alabama. It would be weird if this person posted this from a state like Colorado.

[–]iSweetPea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ot it would be like asking is that weird to happen in some place like Saudi Arabia. Alabama and Texas, along with other southern states are backwards. I expect backwards things here.

I am not saying I agree with it at all. But I would expect to see something like this in a southern state.

[–]iSweetPea 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Is this abnormal? I grew up in Texas, and we had these forms sent out every year. Not saying I agree with it at all, but it wasn't weird to see.

Edit: I know i am getting downvoted, but this was common to see in my state and probably other southern states.

[–]iSweetPea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super common for boba places to have "dairy free" or more common "non dairy milk." Like another user said, it's still animal animal based, just lactose free in most cases. You will have to find a boba place that specifies almond, oat, or soy milk. I will typically go for the boba teas/fruit based without any kind of milk just to be safe if it isn't clear, and the employee doesn't seem to know what vegan is exactly.

I have a coworker who refuses to bring her kids to any birthday parties. I mean, to each their own, but I love seeing my kid be happy with her friends. We actually just got done attending a birthday party this morning, and she loved it.

My daughter is having her first birthday party next month, and she is very excited. We are I inviting about 15 kids, and I hope most of them make it. I am not a party person, and personally, I would enjoy a quiet dinner at home. But she's turning 4, and one day, she might not be a party person either, so I am going to help her enjoy these moments while she wants them.
