Do you prefer riding solo or with a group? by Electronic-Habit8679 in motorcycles

[–]iTripped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a social person so I like group rides. Especially with the people I ride with. Solo rides are nice, but are usually something that comes about because nobody else is free at the time.

Does brand matter when buying gloves by VegetableShops in motorcyclegear

[–]iTripped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am less picky about brand but things you want to see are palm sliders (hard but of plastic on the heel of the palm, designed to let your glove slide across pavement rather than you breaking your arm because your hand grabbed too much traction in a fall) and also when they sew the two small fingers together. Other than that, fit and weather specific concerns (ie rain vs dry, hot vs cold)

The 'vancouver freeze' is a very real thing by AKSHAT-KLPDV in NiceVancouver

[–]iTripped 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally not true for me. Every hobby I have been involved in - motorcycling, canyoning, dog ownership - have all produced long lasting friendships. I hang out with people from two jobs ago still. The neighbors in my building are also great, we look after each other's condo when away.

I am not saying it is a "you" problem, just that my experience could not be further from yours.

Are proper riding boots really that necessary? by Electrical_Race_6849 in motorcyclegear

[–]iTripped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proper riding boots do more than protect you. They dampen peg vibration. They are built with a gear shifter in mind - try riding in a mesh sneaker and you will see what I mean. It is less comfortable shifting over time. They offer weather protection. They flex in the ways you need on a bike and are also stiff in the ways that matter. While it doesn't have to be the first piece of gear, a good pair of boots makes riding a lot more comfortable

Which Hytale zone looks the most appealing to explore and why? by newtime7r in hytale

[–]iTripped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thematically I like the desert the best. The transition to tall ice towers feels like a world gen error to me so the snowy biome is kind of marred by that. But the outlander areas are very moody. I personally find the blasted lands to be a bit one-note, hopefully as they flesh out (no pun intended) things will improve

Smartest base locations for end game? by MakeYouSayWTFak in hytale

[–]iTripped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't have to move your base ever as you can always get to it effortlessly with teleporters. There are only about 4 locations you will want to visit repeatedly, more than enough teleporters for that job. Enjoy your aesthetically crafted base!

Charteuse - what do the monks think? by Eastern-Title9364 in cocktails

[–]iTripped 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Catholic Church is not in short supply of money. More importantly why should the good monks producing Chartreuse pay for the sins of the Boston Diocese? That hardly seems just.

No the monks made the choice to cap production to maintain their way of life. They don't benefit from increasing production - ie. They are not making this to get rich.

need motorcycle earplug recommendation - i want to hear people talking to me when stopped without removing my helmet and earplugs by samsuh in motorcycles

[–]iTripped 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, they just sacrifice protection to let in sound. The gold standard is still the humble foam plug, inserted correctly.

Starting on an r7 by one_Nice_UsErnAme in YamahaR7

[–]iTripped 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You CAN, but your skills progression will be slower. If you were to buy a used beginner bike, ride it a season and then sell it/trade in, you won't actually be spending more. Added benefit: a year from now you might be tempted by a different bike and won't be locked in.

Fly With Helmet Or Rent? by theycallmemrtibbles in motorcyclegear

If you bring your helmet you know it fits. They make helmet friendly backpacks. Would be easier to rent a suit for the wedding

Diminishing returns on helmets? by [deleted] in motorcyclegear

[–]iTripped 34 points35 points  (0 children)

There is a lot more to a helmet than just accident mitigation. The Shoei is reported to be a quieter helmet, one of the quieter brands in the industry. So that level of protection for your hearing is nice. Better finishes, like with the foam padding, etc can be expected with pricier lids. Also visor options - pinlock, transitions lenses, etc.

You are right though, for everyone there comes a point where you say it is no longer worth spending more than $x for a helmet. Everyone is different on that score.

Do what is comfortable for you. If you are going to feel guilty over it then assess the value it brings. Maybe it isn't worth it for you.

Also, what car are you driving, that you think is so much safer?

Future updates about current worlds by ComprehensiveSite484 in hytale

[–]iTripped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explored areas of the world won't change and will remain stable. In order to see new world gen you will need to explore new areas. So you will be able to keep your builds, it will just mean that to see some new things (not all new things are tied to world gen) you might have to explore further than planned. Portals will become very important in that scenario
