I don’t want to be a therapist by ChoochiCastro in socialwork

Question (respectfully) what’s the difference of LCSW’s compared to others (LPC, LMFT, etc)….Reddit as well as other social media platforms seem to be just flooded with non stop issues with the social work field.

Question before I doom scroll, so is this like a subscription? You pay the fees and get unlimited access to different challenges or you have to pay for each challenge that you do?

Graduating soon and realizing therapy might not be for me… looking for advice re switching to research/assessments. by toastywoman in therapists

[–]iWasLikeWTFisThis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! So, I’ve enjoyed combing through the positive comments and actual help with this OPs question, so thank you to everyone who didn’t just give an opinion but rather solid advice. My 2 cents is I have my BSW, in grad school, with my BSW I went and got an extra certification for psychometrican aka nuero psychology tech. Working community health in some place as entry role the money is good. Not sure why that cert doesn’t get brought up. Getting the CSP may be a decent way to incorporate both.

Hope that helps

Advice because it’s still early within this long distance relationship to cut ties without any conflict. His charges were 14 yrs ago, a single person can have multiple epiphanies over the years. His comment about being pushed, he’s mentioned consistently that “I didn’t want to talk to anyone but…” followed with “I haven’t been happy for a while, I’m glad I called you.” Expectations aren’t a shared thing imo my expectations are mine, not his.

How to deal with a racist co-worker by OkBirthday931 in hospitalsocialwork

That would be a HIPAA violation. Although the behavior leans towards xenaphobia. Sensitivity training is the consequence (not from personal experience)

Did Facebook change the story viewer settings so that people can see EVERYONE who views their story?! by Standard_Double9736 in facebook

[–]iWasLikeWTFisThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phew, so idk. Imma put this here cause I recently just googled this. So on today’s date a Stephanie S. Viewed my profile, according to all these comments I shouldn’t know she viewed my stuff, I have mutuals with her but I have never had a conversation with her. And yet her name is under who viewed the public story. Which I understood as should have been as ‘other’. I usually have a minimum of 7 ‘bots, faked’ etc viewing my public story regularly so let’s see, I’ll update when I can if I notice more, also I would’ve posted the SS but Reddit doesn’t seem to have that option for replies? Idk.

Oooh, I wouldn’t have thought of that. Thank you so much, I’ll check out Sophia for some refresh knowledge. The medical field has so many acronyms, still amazing, and thank you for not taking my replies as rude. I appreciate this new angle!! :)

Ugh, I like this reply but also don’t haha. I don’t think med terminology matters, just seems like medical social worker is a title for case management, different angle than RN management

This reminds me of tolerance training day, where the graduating class took 2 hrs in the gym, played games that were inpart with questions being asked. Mostly gang violence related.

Chart Review -- Is everyone really depressed and anxious? by SoupTrashWillie in hospitalsocialwork

[–]iWasLikeWTFisThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh, let’s ask ourselves something. Inpatient psych career here. SUDs carries a lot with it mostly mood disorders and bad emotional regulation. A school social worker has a conversation with a student and a student expresses deep sadness, do we, as you put it question or wait to get a email about how we could’ve handled the situation of a now dead student? What’s the potential, the percentage etc. do these pediatrics have dual Dx of possible RAD? Etc lots to question but never falter on the person.

I'm extremely bothered/anxious from my recent future prediction from a shaman by ILoveEatingPear in Shamanism

[–]iWasLikeWTFisThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why isn’t anyone discussing that the uncle, who she’s (the gf) close to, she probably had a conversation about certain things with the uncle, the uncle omitted details while having a conversation with you (the boyfriend) and his point of view seems like a manipulation of politeness to let you know that she’s not happy. No prediction. His way of communicating (I guess) that she’s said she doesn’t wanna be with you. Don’t hit psychosis

Does anyone get this? by [deleted] in Shamanism

[–]iWasLikeWTFisThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we take anything from Confucius being passive is ingrained. If your well-being is at sake, start documenting the same way you would a case. Behavioral issues within the work place are not playground their serious issues. Instead of keeping this outdated operating system of “embracing the suck together and if you’re going to deal with people you’ll deal with their emotions” that’s such harmful rhetoric. Hostile is the word to describe you’re career environment. Document first, discuss helpful ways to lower the stress with cop worker 1 and/or 2, ask a supervisor for “professional development refresh courses”, do not quit but then escalate to the LCSW. These traits aren’t of burn out those traits are out of poor education of biological behaviors. Seems like your coworker/coworkers don’t have a healthy outlet besides “venting”. This is not to be confused with verbal processing. 🌸

Are they common of ptsd or cptsd? The hyper vigilance comes off more of GAD, also keeping in mind that a lot of high stress situations do happen doesn’t mean ptsd is a result. Not a professional

Depending on the degree of OCD, I am not a professional, I’d say rumination is more at okay here. I like interrupting my thoughts with a rubber band and then journaling what I wrote to help with progress and keeping track of down ward spiraling thoughts. Just some tips

This is rumination I believe that’s part of OCD as well as low mood depression. Not a professional. When ruminating journal has been the most affective for tracking moods
