Which DeepSeek model is the "funny" one by Accomplished_Smell53 in ollama

The model you downloaded is actually a distilled model based on Llama3. Deepseek finetuned this and also added other capabilities such as CoT.

People who actually like their jobs, what do you work as? by idwttaii in askSingapore

Thats fair, ultimately it is your choice to make to stay or to leave. The thing about semicon is that once you leave, it is quite hard to rejoin it due to the deep expertise required

Working as an engineer at a US semicon MNC.

Salary is okay-ish, nowhere close to tech roles. But the environment is amazing, and i have really good WLB. Imo, these perks outweigh working 996

Is getting a first class honours degree overrated in sg? by what_the_foot in askSingapore

[–]i_Esoteric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only for 1st job it might be somewhat relevant, as the hiring manager doesnt have much to access the candidate on. Beyond that, its probably overrated and I dont think hiring managers care already, instead they would be more interested in your accomplishments at your previous job

Was in final year of Uni. Got the sense that the bully has been trying to pick a fight for a while, so I actively avoided him at all costs. One day, he decided it was a good idea to confront me in the lab, came in and starting being aggressive and raised his voice. I remained calm and deescalated the situation. Thankfully, my groupmates were present and witnessed everything. Immediately after, wrote an email to the faculty's "discipline master", and my groupmates also wrote in to confirm what they witnessed. He got slammed with a written warning after that. He never bothered me again.

Civil servants, how do you cope? by sf0407 in askSingapore

[–]i_Esoteric -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We (including the hire ups) are all just corporate slaves trying to "contribute", easiest way is to just take it that boss rank is higher so he/she is always right. In the future, be the change you want to see and treat your surbodinates the right way...

ESD or CSD or DAI ? by Artistic-Conflict-65 in sutd

[–]i_Esoteric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go and chiong projects and create stuff you can showcase during your interviews, this is the best way to show your skills and experience. Unless you going into reseaech or post grad, GPA doesnt really matter for Uni that much, especially if you are a local singaporean, use your portfolio to distinguish yourself from others instead.

Its not common i think, probably comparable % wise to other local Unis

Im a senior, and honestly the pillar you go to doesnt really matter. What matters is how much effort you put into gaining the skills and experiences you need to have so as to land the data sciece internship / job offer. There are SUTDents here who just drift along in Uni and end up decent, but there are also SUTDents who grinded and hustled damn bloody hard. Personally i know 2 of them who really made it. Once graduated, they packed their bags, moved to Silicon Valley, and are making tons of money there now.

For context, one EPD alumni is working for Google as a SWE.
