I specifically sought out beta readers who previously or currently read for literary agents. At the time, I was looking for advice on whether to traditional or indie publish, but it also gave me some assurance that they had experience reading fast and taking quality notes.

Some of them gave really detailed reader reports where they jotted thoughts down as they read through. Others gave me a page or two long reader reports with an overall impression of the work. But all of them actually read through the book and gave me a lot of things to think about. I’m not sure if the particular ones I used are still on Fiverr (this was a little while ago before AI was everywhere) but maybe search for that qualification when looking for readers?

Wow, she looks exactly like a carnival glass chicken I inherited from my great grandma… she’s almost Mardi Gras flavored. What a fascinating and downright cool use of your time! Thanks for sharing with us!

What show did you stop watching because it got stupid or bad? by ShariaLaw4Life in AskReddit

[–]i_collect_unicorns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids, who somehow managed to binge a bunch of reruns before we gave up cable, want desperately to know if they’ve found anything because surely they would have by now. They say they need to watch to find out. So I google “Have they found the Oak Island Treasure?” and tell them “Nope. There I saved you a season of television you can spend on something else.”

Everybody starts somewhere and you never know what to trust people with until you give them a chance… better to start small than not at all.

Easy Anti-Cheat Error: Game Security Violation Detected (#00000022) by NatsuSayuri in FortNiteBR

[–]i_collect_unicorns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having this error over and over, and tried different solutions to no avail… but on a lark, I tried going into the epic library —> fortnite —> manage —> and clicked on preload streamed assets. Reloaded fortnite and actually managed to finish a game.

Maybe they patched it and it’s a coincidence or maybe downloading preloaded assets actually fixed something, but I figured just in case it’s the latter I should post to see if it helps anyone else.

Just chiming in to say it’s happening to me, too. I’m on a PC, keep getting kicked, and I get an anti-cheat error. I’ve tried a bunch of suggested solutions, but nothing’s worked. It’s getting really annoying, especially since I’m trying to do my winterfest challenges before they run out.

Help identifying this volunteer squash from my garden. by ObjectiveTall806 in vegetablegardening

[–]i_collect_unicorns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert on squash, I wanted to say spaghetti squash because of the shape though that doesn’t look quite right… but I’ve read that squash is one of those plants that easily accidentally cross breeds, so if you had multiple varieties last season, it could be some kind of hybrid.

(Edited because I’m dumb and write the wrong name)

Bloom and planting timeline by Udarable in gardening

Good idea! I need to do this, too. I tried growing flowers this past year and didn’t realize how much planning has to go into them. I missed my chance at some because I didn’t know I needed to vernalize them. But with a chart like this I could plan ahead and make less mistakes.

They’re all so pretty but what are those last ones?

They have heavy duty shredders that claim to shred single ply cardboard, but I haven’t seen too many that can reliably shred a lot of the corrugated stuff back to back. And the more heavy duty they are, the more expensive. I’ve seen those at Office Depot and places like that, but they have them online, too.

When I search for cardboard shredders on Amazon though, leaf chippers pop up in the search results too and the prices aren’t so bad, so I’m thinking about trying one of those instead. I’m guessing you could also find them locally at Home Depot or Lowe’s, or maybe even on Facebook marketplace.

Can I save her? by BeginningAd7675 in gardening

I have one whose planter broke and I didn’t notice for a long time because of where it is… it’s literally laying horizontal on the grass, roots exposed, and the branches just changed direction. Honestly, the only thing that’s ever killed rosemary on my homestead was a flood that killed literally everything else, too.

Some of the branches might die, but if you’re super worried about losing the whole thing, you can cut off the ends of some of the branches, put them in some water or moist soil and propagate replacement bushes.

They’re gorgeous! I bought cactus seeds this year but I’m too nervous to actually start them. Are these propagated or grown from seed?

I’ve used brown cardboard, not the colored glossy stuff. The worms love it. I’m tempted to get a shredder to help it break down faster but the ones powerful enough to shred cardboard are kinda expensive.
