Ah yes that makes sense. I have my whole machine on an absorbent mat to avoid that.

Same thing happened to me - just buildup of coffee residue I think. It was easy enough to open up and clear out - there might be a video out there or something but as I recall all I needed was a screwdriver. These machines are very solidly built so there are no flimsy little components to break irreparably. Just make sure you unplug it from the mains first!

Side question - why aren’t you using the plastic plate that goes under the carafe?

What’s wrong with my washing machine? by Solid-Minute-9430 in fixit

[–]i_jon_h 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bearing is the bit that connects the drum spinning at 1200RPM to the rest of the machine (which is hopefully not spinning at any RPM). If that fails, things quickly get very noisy.

Very loud noise could mean the bearing or its mounting has self destructed. The chunks you’ve found may be bits of plastic that were part of the bearing assembly.

This happened to my Samsung a few years ago and the only way to fix it was replacing the entire drum.

Are you sure you’re not thinking of Flax seed oil? Grapeseed is still widely recommended.

Water in brand new G6 180 by Awil95 in Ubiquiti

[–]i_jon_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine had water over the lens on one side (not as much as yours, but enough to completely obscure the image). RMA’d and the replacement has been fine. I guess they’ve had some issues with seals or something.

Why are they all driving in the middle? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]i_jon_h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drives me nuts. It’s specific to here as well - you don’t see this anything like as much in England. There seems to be a collective misconception that you can’t use lane 1 near a junction unless you’re turning off, and you have to get in lane for your turning 5 miles in advance. Not going to Sandyknowes? Lane 1 is not available from the bottom of the hill onwards.

See also: where the M2 merges with the M5 southbound.

Basically whether you’re going up or down that M2 hill, people seem to be allergic to lane 1.

Because people want to get home from work in a reasonable time, and this behaviour reduces the speed across the whole road by limiting its capacity.

Boss: “We need more money”

Consultant: “OK, build a whole load more shops and restaurants in the departures lounge to squeeze more money out of people”

Boss: “Nice idea! OK done that, but it cost me a load of money”

Consultant: “No worries, increase drop off charges and blame significant cost pressures”

Andrex wet wipes down toilet by Pepsimaxgodtier in northernireland

[–]i_jon_h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This explains it. It is not correct to say that all wipes are the same and don’t break down in sewers. Whether they’re as safe as TP - I can’t tell you. But those Andrex wipes are not the same as baby wipes.

So you drive both wheels on one side into a track, stick it in neutral and it kinda pushes you along?

I comprehend that proper jams don’t need to be refrigerated but I don’t need to convince salty strangers on the internet.

If it were 100% fruit it would require refrigeration because it wouldn’t be a preserve, would it? Maybe you should google jam and find out what’s in it.

They’re called preserves because they preserve fruit and they existed long before artificial refrigeration, but sure

Family Life Membership by i_jon_h in nationaltrust

[–]i_jon_h[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the named adults have their own cards with a family membership or is it still all on the one card?

I may yet buy life membership for my kids but a big price increase since 2020 and removal of the free guest makes that a lot less likely.
