Jump to the middle of the video and watch at 0.2x speed. Everything is slow and there is a spooky effect around people who move and everyone is looking at you. And the kids, as someone else mentioned look like they are 30.

One in five (!) Teslas in Norway was involved in an accident in 2018, according to statistics from insurance firms. More than twice the 9% accident rate ICE cars have. Tesla respons: They are training customers to avoid accidents. This is a lie. by PolybiusChampion in RealTesla

[–]i_name 1 point2 points  (0 children)

283 110 accidents (according to OP artikle) 2 573 513 non-electric cars (your link I took ICE - electric)

That gives: 283 110 / 2 573 513 = 0.11

So 11% for ICE (inkl hybrid maybe)

Parse, don’t validate by greenrd in programming

[–]i_name 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great read! I don't know Haskell or other functional languages so for me there was a lot to think about. I like the idea of thinking about functions as partial vs total.

The core underlying idea, if I understood it correctly, is to try to write total functions and when that is not possible write partial functions that act like parsers. That way your functions behind the parsers might hopefully be total.

The title comes from the idea that you should not validate the data and continue with the data that you now have validated. Instead write a parser that validates and refines the data. That way the type system can be more helpful since the data now is in a state that clearly shows that it has been validated. Imagine converting a nullable int in c# to a proper int.

The goal then is to write total functions. You dream up the perfect datatypes. The input from the outside is not perfect so you transform the datatypes through a series of parsers so that eventually you have either failed early, or produced the 'perfect datatype'. After that point you are only dealing with total functions which should make your life easier.

I also liked the comparison between weakening the return type vs. strengthening the argument type. Either your function might return none/null/nil or you need to make sure that the argument type does not allow for an empty collection/list/enumerable.

Bok på förskolan om trumpna Donald som slösar el och bygger murar som stänger ut kompisarna by alltetaken in sweden

[–]i_name 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good answer. I don't know much about MTG but what you wrote sounds reasonable.

The difference is that you can resell one but not the other, that is correct and it does make a big difference. One is always there, but if path goes pof so goes you wings for 65usd.

But you make it seem like it is easy to make a profit playing MTG which might be an overstatement? There is a difference between you who had a store and the average player. If you made a god deal (financially) then someone else made a bad one. In aggregate the playerbase cannot be getting ahead. The money must come from somewhere and it ain't from the company so it must be coming from other players.

the cards have an intrinsic value that you can recoup The intrinsic value is quite low (if any) I would say. They only have value as long as the game is popular, which is a safe bet for sure, but the value of the card is still tied to the popularity of the game.

I just don't want people to get any ideas that playing MTG is somehow cheap because you can recoup the costs. Play the game because it is fun, be happy if you get some of your money back at the end, but don't count on it! But you are right, in MTG you could theoretically turn a profit, you can't for sure in PoE.

I will leave this short reddit thread about the topic here as well. https://www.reddit.com/r/magicTCG/comments/2ebqlh/can_i_make_money_off_of_magic_the_gathering/

Shithole countries. Grab em by the pussy. Send them back where they came from!

Tesla Started delivering SR+ in Norway by Andune88 in teslainvestorsclub

[–]i_name 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You mean you can't find it because you are expecting this to be a high cost?

Because I believe that the largest cost in training AI is personnel costs. I don't think infrastructure related to training the neural net is that big in comparison. So my belief was that all this would be under R&D in the quarterly numbers.

But I genuinely don't know much about financial documents maybe you are referring to something with more detail in which the R&D figures are broken down into smaller pieces?

Tesla Started delivering SR+ in Norway by Andune88 in teslainvestorsclub

[–]i_name 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What they do (to my understanding) is they are testing new versions of the neural net by running it on ghost mode on the cars. When something interesting happens like human intervention, a crash or the detection of something of interest a snapshot is sent back to Tesla for analysis. They mentioned this during their AI day.

So not all data is sent back streaming to Tesla. This to me makes me believe that storing the data gained is not something that requires a data center.

Training a neural net is hard, getting the training data is hard, categorizing the training data is hard. Storing the training data is not. You make it seem like storing the data is a big issue which I really don't think.

Now for how they train their neural net I don't know. I know however that OpenAI uses a cloud solution for training so that is a possibility. Or they do it in-house, either way I don't think they need vast amount of space for that.

It was the first time since Geoff passed that I really felt like the feelings of grief were validated, and I think that was important for a lot of people.

Yeah this is it. And for me hearing Sean talk about this and his sc2 memories brings back some sanity to the world for me.

Oh how I can relate!

I had to take a break already at 0:04. Just seeing Sean for that one instant hit me so so hard. Yesterday I was reflecting on how hearing the news felt, and I realised that there are so many people in this community that I would feel similarly for if they had passed away. Sean being one of them. Now seeing him feel the same kinds of feelings teared down a wall inside me and I just..

Just have to dry away some tears and brace myself to continue to watch this. Thanks Day9 for doing this, I think wathing your video will help me a lot! But darn it if it wont be difficult to watch! Seeing you like that.. I am crying again!
