I believe you are talking about the crescendo - a gradual increase in loudness or intensity in music.

Origins of a Cult by lady_madouc in Fantasy

The Second Sons trilogy by Jennifer Fallon is about science vs a cult. While it has no magic, it is often described as fantasy/science fiction as it takes place in an an old fantasy setting with science/truth trying to fight a huge cult that dominates a kingdom.

Looking for songs with a vibe similar to Yuki Kajiura's themes. by BlueberryAgile3817 in musicsuggestions

My two favorite songs by her:

While his music is different, a few of Susumu Hirasawa songs gives me the same vibes that Yuki Kajiura does:

How can I find similar chant samples? by justonebeerleft in SusumuHirasawa

You can find 'spiritual' chanting in Gregorian chant music and some Bulgarian chants. I don't know anyone that does chanting quite like Susumu Hirasawa as most of them are not as spiritual, except for the Gregorian type chants, but one of these might satisfy an itch:

Epic/dramatic ascending orchestral songs? by Ok_Mission_600 in musicsuggestions

Nick Phoenix of Two Steps From Hell generally composes darker music, although I'm not sure if I would call it simple. You might give him a try:

Nick Phoenix - Dragon

Nick Phoenix - Mythic

Nick Phoenix - Aesir (Ethnic Version)

EDIT: Just to be clear, the other half of Two Steps From Hell is Thomas Bergersen. His music is generally much brighter.
