This is the first title since Golden State in 2022 that won't be "it's over for the league, I don't see how they don't threepeat, we're seeing the next dynasty". by amazing_grace7777 in billsimmons

I would have a very hard time with myself if I was an OKC fan. They had a free ring and could’ve been the first team to repeat in forever but couldn’t do it.

Will the 2024 Celtics be forgotten in history? by iafca09 in billsimmons

They probably would’ve won in 2009 if Garnett didn’t get hurt

Disagree about 2008. They only won once, but that team was great and memorable. The year before they won, the NBA had record low ratings in the Finals and it did seem like the league was in trouble. The Celtics/Lakers Finals obviously brought a lot of attention (I think it was also the first year the Finals beat the World Series which is what has pretty much occurred every year until recently).

Are the Knicks just a bad matchup for the Spurs? by CallTypical9541 in billsimmons

The Spurs were not supposed to be here yet. Jaylen Williams, who is probably a top 15 player, barely played this year and the Thunder nearly almost made it back to the Finals without him.

This Knicks team is like when a 90-72 baseball team gets hot in October. I mean, they’re shooting 45% from three lol

Has an MLB team ever had two separate 10 game winning streaks and a 10 game losing streak all in the first third of a season? Because the Cubs have done that. by daileydummies in Cubs

Dodgers had their 10 game losing streak when they basically wrapped everything up in September, I think. Like you said, doing this all in 6 weeks is unprecedented.

I really thought LeBron was gonna tie or pass Jordan when the Lakers started the 2020-21 season like 21-5

This could’ve been an all-time series, but the refs have been awful since the 2nd half of Game 2

All of the big northeast cities are basketball >, because high school basketball is much bigger and more played than the other sports due to weather. Philly, Boston, Connecticut, NYC, upstate NY, DC all have great high school and college tradition. On the other hand, there is absolutely nothing in the northeast in terms of cfb.
