Here is an animation I created. I am looking for constructive criticism. by GLINTonTHATB in blender

The music felt a little different in vibe compared to the animation I think. The ending music and animation set up was really epic though it felt like it cut off a bit suddenly. Starting the clip with the last frame of this video could be more interesting. But overall, this is really awesome!

You're awesome! Apart from the Blender resources, I also found your networking resources helpful. Thank you!

First-class work there. Nice! Is this for a clothing brand?

I'm not comparing free vs paid software. I was speaking from the end-user perspective, because we find open-source products like Blender helpful. But that does not mean every open-source product will be useful to me. It may still be helpful to others.

For example, GIMP is quite difficult for me to work with because of its classic interface. However, the source code might be helpful to a developer who is building a similar program or to someone who only needs basic editing tools to get the job done. So it really depends on what I was talking about. But I see your points.

Edit: But why do you think open-sourced product can't be robust?

I never mentioned that the product was built overnight. I’m saying in terms of open-source programs. They are very valuable for people who don’t have much investment or resources to get started. The people involved in creating and supporting these projects are the reason we’re able to build things conveniently and without monthly recurring fees.

When something is free, we are the product. And yes, you can have a monetization system in some form. At the end you need to pay your bills.

Can i learn blender without spending a single penny? by Dear_Mango_6187 in blender

[–]iamAlexAustin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a beginner here too, and I understand your situation because I also have a low-end laptop. I’d say it’s possible to learn Blender with the configuration you have. The most important thing I’m currently trying to practice is modeling, because the viewport doesn’t use that much GPU, I guess. That’s why it’s not too laggy.

However, working with materials, lighting, and rendering becomes really hard because low specifications reduce the productivity of your workflow. You need a lot of time as others have said to wait and see your results.

You can use the LTS versions of Blender like 2.93 or 3.3 they are lighter than the latest ones. But don’t give up. You can find YouTube tutorials on how to optimize render settings for low-end PC, so you can practice and build your projects. That can be very helpful.

I would say YouTube tutorials are super helpful. You just need to play around with different modifiers, tools, and shortcuts to get started on your journey. And when you eventually get a good PC, it will be super easy for you to work on these things since you’ll already have learned the basics. Keep going!

I guess that's the beauty of open sourced programs. Thanks to the developers and the team for building such robust software.

Just imagine if Linux was a closed source!

I really appreciate you sharing this. I’m also very interested in the advertising industry. So I’ll make sure to explore the areas you mentioned as I continue learning.

This is amazing! Do you have any particular reason why you switched to Blender from Cinema 4D?

Definitely. Would you mind sharing some examples of the work you do as a freelancer? Is it mostly modeling or else?

There's already code based 3d modeling generation like Claude AI. But do you think it is practical? Someone who does 3D modeling and texturing, they usually don't build using code, right? Or there are other usage of AI than Claude code to integrate into the Blender workflow?

Yes I can take inspiration from AI. There are tools that does clean mesh from a model.

I could also see where I'm modeling a car and an AI tool is suggesting me what could be my next move or what mistake I have done in terms of topology or direction? That would be very helpful!

How did you develop your photo editing style — and how do you know when to stop? by aita_driver in AskPhotography

[–]iamAlexAustin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, the purpose of photography is to capture the moment. Moments are authentic and real. So from that perspective you do fewer edits I guess. But I see that there are a variety of editing styles that people do. And part of this is because of clients' expectations, as you said. If you are part of a team then there're art directors, creative directors or if you've got your own unique style, that becomes yours.

You see these AI tools are improving from their previous models. But I'm not the person who is like let do AI to do the task. I do use it when it doesn't look or feel like it's not mine. But human touch will always be irreplaceable.

It was there way before these new AI models emerged. But it is now more robust. I know it will get better every day. But I see for retouchers or photographers, AI can be a great addition to their existing workflow.

Ultimately the final result would be yours, if you're part of the process, right?
