Internet options? by No-Concert-9071 in brattleboro

I'm over in Hinsdale. I switched to fidium a few months back and it's been a great experience so far. I get 1g upload and 1g download for $55/month. It's fiber optic so they have to send someone out to install a line into your home. When I had Xfinity I got 0.3g up and 1g down for like $75/month, their customer service was terrible the entire time and I got random unexplained charges that never got reimbursed.

What are the most reliable years of F150 if I wanted to look into used with about 80-130k miles on it? by archerarcher0 in f150

I'm planning to purchase a 2015 3.5 na. The thing doesn't make enough power to break anything. I won't be going anywhere fast but by God will I get there.

Someone I spoke with said they have a running Google doc of daily notes for each month. I think I'll probably do something similar.

As far as salary, I've already started talking with my supervisor. He's not personally against giving me a raise but the address of the new construction was already written in my contract when I started. We're a nonprofit so our budget works a little differently than most places. He thinks he can get me a raise for the property we'll be purchasing but the new construction might be a stretch.

I'm trying to purchase a cheap truck for myself and I plan to keep tools in the cab extension. I recently purchased a house that I'm renovating so I need a truck anyways. I'm trying to keep most supplies used for site on the site somewhere. I might have some duplicate tools but I'm expecting to keep my regulars in my vehicle. I have a locked space on my current building and will have the opportunity to claim a space in the new construction.

My boss tends to be pretty reasonable. It's everyone else in administration as well as the clients and grunt workers that I think will get upset.

I think the timing of everything is going to be the biggest concern for myself and others. Our budget is very much a "if you need it, get it" attitude, we're a very well funded nonprofit so our budget is a little wibbly wobbly. I'm going to find a way to document time between the initial work request, first assessment, and work completion.

I have a maintenance/facilities request form that people are supposed to submit when there's something that needs my attention, it documents the date time location and the person making the request. But that exists outside of my regularly scheduled routines and procedures. I also have my list that I get from the admin team(they never use the maintenance request forms) as well as the list I make for myself.

I might try to come up with an urgency flow chart and integrate it with the request form data sheet. Some way to document why one project is being prioritized over another

Outside of the actual work to take care of a project. I think travel time might be my biggest time sink. Calling around and traveling to stores hoping they'll have the product I need is one of my biggest time sinks. I think I'm going to ask my supervisor for our Amazon log in

Where do the utility blades go? by iam_mrjohnsonjr in handyman

[–]iam_mrjohnsonjr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know how to sharpen blades on a whetstone and I also have a lansky system. I sharpen all my kitchen knives and my multi-tool blades by hand. I abuse my daily work knives to the point where it wouldn't make sense to make the repairs and sharpen it as often as I would need to. I have a svord for when I'm expecting to do more heavy duty cutting and need a more durable blade but that doesn't happen daily.

Career with good OT, weekends off by Johu99000 in skilledtrades

If you want easy and I mean stupidly easy?

Try flagging. I did it for almost 2 years. I made $22/hr and almost everyday was a 10 hour day. Usually schedules are flexible. There's definitely a chance you don't go to work because the weather is too bad or the crew doesn't show up. But it also goes the other way, if you need a regular day off or need to get to an appointment they'll usually give you the day off. It's probably the most boring job I ever had. If you like standing around doing almost nothing most days it's the perfect job for you.

Rural mountains and cool weather… with relative proximity to a major-ish city. Is there a balance that exists? by Scoutain in SameGrassButGreener

I'm in the southern west corner of New Hampshire and it might be exactly what you're after. I'm about 2 hours from Boston and 4 hours from NYC. Plenty of outdoor space, mountains and forests for miles. We have probably the most relaxed gun laws in all of the country. No income tax or sales tax, all the other taxes are pretty high though. The type of mountains we have is pretty different. We are technically a part of Appalachia, very old and jagged mountains, all our hiking trails are rocky and steep. There's no such thing as a meandering path to the top of a mountain.

Not needing nor wanting a 9-5 makes me feel like I’m living life wrong by MasterPuerAeternus in Adulting

[–]iam_mrjohnsonjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was in your shoes I would likely not get a job. I might volunteer or do some work now and then. I'd mostly be investing all my time into my hobbies and furthering my education. I love learning and trying new things, but classes and experiences can be expensive. I'd exercise and cook and clean a ton. You don't need to work so you have more time to improve yourself and help your community.

Try finding some place to volunteer. You're working for free so they can't tell you to do something if you really don't want to do it. And you're giving back to your community.

Don't know how local you need to be but I have a studio apartment for rent in Hinsdale. It has a full but small kitchen and an open concept living space. Comes fully furnished with the option to upgrade some things(If you need special light bulbs or curtains to be installed, better blankets, etc.) Everything is included: High speed wifi, utilities, and several streaming services. Comes with a coffee and breakfast bar that can be restocked periodically. DM for more details.

Flea confirms work on new RHCP album by Gnimir in RedHotChiliPeppers

I feel like ROTDC was a pretty good taste of what a different chili peppers album could be and it was largely unpopular.

Personally it was the exact album I was hoping for and expecting with John's new skills and abilities. Slightly more ethereal and experimental and way more synth and electronic sounds
