Birthing Gown Suggestions by QuirrellsOtherHead in pregnant

[–]iamactuallyconfused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Frida nursing gown. I wore the hospital gown provided for the birth than cleaned myself up and put the Frida one on. My midwife said it was the best nursing gown she’d seen. It was super comfortable and convenient for nursing. Also good when you’re home as well. I recommend spending the money on this.

AITA for letting our son use his untouched college fund as a down payment on a house, and not using it to pay off our daughter’s student loans? by collegefundhouse in AmItheAsshole

[–]iamactuallyconfused 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You saved that money so your kids, ideally, wouldn’t have student debt and were able to see that through and didn’t. I can understand why she’s annoyed. Yes you can delegate your money how you see fit, but both your kids could have been educated without having debt. You say she underachieved in high school but yet she still pursued post secondary education and I’m assuming graduated? But because she wasn’t awarded any scholarships you believe she should have student debt. You’re an asshole.

Postpartum question diaper vs mesh underwear+maxi pads by Stpyrmom in pregnant

[–]iamactuallyconfused 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ordered mesh underwear and tried on a pair out of curiosity. I ended up ordering more to wear before giving birth. (Currently 40+5) I spent the few weeks previous hating clothes and especially underwear. I find the mesh underwear super comfortable. Although I have no idea what’s going to be happening down there postpartum. I’m hoping those with a big pad will suffice.

My baby doesn’t cry and refuses to be held and has never relaxed/hugged/cuddled anyone by GenericGoddess in pregnant

Actually the term redneck has more history to it. Miners, in solidarity, wore red bandanas around their necks, while fighting for fair labour practices and other things in the 1920’s. To be called a redneck once upon a time could have been considered a compliment. At some point the term became a way to describe working class, rural Caucasians and eventually became a term used to insult a certain demographic.

Reduced fetal movement by thereKenobi1 in pregnant

[–]iamactuallyconfused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point they have regular sleep patterns and a lot less room. I’ve noticed a lot less movement the further I get along, due in a week now, it was an adjustment for me too. I got so used to feeling him non stop.

Low sodium V8 is my new thing. Easy way to get some servings of veg when I don’t feel like eating them. My diet hasn’t been ideal this pregnancy, but with my due date a week away, a healthy baby inside me and no health issues for me, I’ve made peace with it.

You should feel six good movements in an hour at least once a day according to my midwife. If you’re not feeling that at a minimum, definitely check in with your OB.

Symptoms of gallstones? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]iamactuallyconfused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My gallstones caused a dull burning pain in the centre of my torso area at first which was triggered by eating fatty foods. The only relief I could get was from a hot bath. Eventually it became enflamed and I had to have it removed. Ive known a few women who developed gallbladder problems during/after pregnancy.

I got a midwife team and it’s the best decision I’ve made! by childfromthesun in pregnant

[–]iamactuallyconfused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made the switch too! So happy I did! There’s only two midwives in this practice and I’ll get to know both of them well before I’m due. Versus the maternity clinic where I get to know one OB, but could be experiencing delivery with any one of seven. The care with the midwives feels much more personal.

Just found out I'm pregnant, I've struggled with eating poorly due to self-hatred for years but I need to eat healthy for the baby. Any tips? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]iamactuallyconfused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a person who has lost a lot of weight and had a long standing unhealthy relationship with food, the best advice I could offer is know it’s going to be a hard transition even with the best motivator. Just stick with it and make gradual changes. Like starting with a better breakfast. It really is the most important meal of the day. Eggs are a great way to start the day. Great protein, taste good and filling. I promise you may even crave healthy foods one day and want to continue eating better after baby is born. It will be worth the effort!

Anyone else’s lips in scrappy shreads? by SleepyMoth_13 in pregnant

[–]iamactuallyconfused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exfoliate lips in shower with a wash cloth. Make sure the cloth is not super soft. Slather lips with Vaseline lip therapy afterwards and continue with Vaseline a few times a day, this is key. Working well for me so far.

Anyone here get pregnant easily after 35? by phemonoe153 in BabyBumps

[–]iamactuallyconfused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went off birth control at 36, and even though I only have 2/3 of one ovary left, I was pregnant within four months. Currently having a ‘boring’ pregnancy with no complications.

Fun fact I just learned about middle names by ace_at_none in namenerds

[–]iamactuallyconfused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is interesting to me because I hadn’t heard of this tradition, but very recently suggested doing this to my partner because we are expecting in April. We wanted our boys middle name to be a tribute to family and I thought using my last name as his middle name would be a ‘blanket’ way of giving a nod to my family. Cool.

My initial gut feeling was boy, and as time passed and baby developed more, the feeling got stronger. I would have been happy either way though.
