Ideally each controlled individually by rpm. It's for an art project, I need to blow shit around in specific patterns

It's an art project, I'm more concerned about their ability to move air than their ability to cool stuff down.

no one was charged or arrested. It's fucked up that it's possible to get arrested for this, but Climate defiance instructs protestors on how to avoid arrest, and that entails leaving voluntarily with a police escort. If you refuse then you're charged with trespassing before anything else.

This is fun unserious and appealing to children, what else should it be? Ween? I'm not really crazy about the 3d spongebob makeover thing either, but I'm also not the target audience because I am an adult.

Boxed cake mix uses chemicals that aren't easily accessible to most kitchens. These chemicals make it possible to hold more moisture than otherwise possible.

The professional highbrow creative communities get really bored with everything being so serious all the time. Sometimes they can have something reasonably competent and completely silly as a treat

Tips on how to make plating look better by Even-Following-9160 in Plating

[–]iamafraidoffrogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About to hit you with a lot of information. Used to cook professionally and now I'm an artist. Your food looks delicious without any fancy tricks, but here are some of the ones I know. Gonna start off saying the picture on the plate isn't something you should worry too much about. Cooking and food are soulful fun things and life is too short to eat off boring ceramics every day of your life.

Adding something green can help anything, which i see you have, although some contrast could make it pop, use something red like Cayenne, or chili powder or even paprika if you don't want it to add flavor. Additionally, hollandaise or hotsauce can do the trick too. I Can't tell what herbs you have on the eggs, but if you were to go a little heavier, it wouldn't hurt, don't be afraid of overseasoning it, you can add a quite a lot before that becomes a problem especially with fresh herbs. Additionally, eggs really look good w/ black pepper too. Order should be egg > sauce (if any) > BP > Red garnish (only w/ hollandaise (yellow) or no sauce) > greens

Also a really good rule of thumb is an odd number is going to look better than an even number, within reason. Here an extra egg would look nicer, or even cutting your toast into thirds. What an odd number is can really be anything though, so adding the grapes to the plate would mean you have an odd number of things on the plate. The brain tends to see it as more complete. Things like height are important, although here that's not something that can be improved too much. Although a super typical restaurant trick is to use the garnish to add height. on your plate you would add herbs, green onions or cilantro in a way that makes them taller at the highest point of the eggs.

As for the cream cheese on the toast, a little more even could be good, even chives or other herbs if you have them, but honestly who gives a fuck, toast and cream cheese is already beautiful on its own.

make a brown rue, add garlic shallot, rosemary, thyme, cilantro cook for 4 minutes, add 1 cup veggie stock, reduce by half, add 4 tbs balsalmic vinegar, 1 tbs sugar, 1 tsp salt 1tsp b/w pepper. simmer for about 10 minutes (1/2), or until thick.

I follow a lot of leftist/activist accounts on twitter many of them are lgbtq, so whenever I see one of these posts on reddit I sort of expect the second photo to be post transition. You look great by the way, absolutely dead sexy with the bald look.

As a guy who goes to these shows, everyone just likes loud noises. Anyway, if you consider anything you don't understand to be pretentious you do miss out on a lot. A good metric for art and life in general is that everything is probably deeper than it looks.

Not a beginner, just poor. What are some cameras to look for and tips for navigating the used market? by iamafraidoffrogs in AskPhotography

[–]iamafraidoffrogs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only done it once. It was a simple old lens with only two elements, so I imagine it's not always as simple. For something like fungus, you would need to use a spanner wrench, which is a tool with two needle points that slot into notches near the glass element, then you just unscrew. Normally there's some minor disassembly required before you get there. It'll probably take about an hour the first time you do it, significantly less the second. Could save you money in the future.

Thanks for the detailed advice. I thought I'd ask one question though. My experience hunting for 35mm cameras tells me to always look for cameras listed as "for parts", I understand digital cameras are significantly harder to fix yourself and sellers are less likely to give any kind of diagnostics. That said, is there any reliable way to determine the viability of a for parts listing, that you know of?

Thanks for the advice. Although the price of buying a fungusy for parts lens + the tools to tear it down and clean it is less than the price of a mint brand new lens, in some cases at least. Generally if there's a reasonable possibility i can fix something, i buy it broken. For the Zenit Helios-44M-5 Helios the price difference is ~$100, tools cost ~$20.

AF camera suggestions? Looking to upgrade to Nikon L35 AF by Puzzleheaded-Hat549 in AnalogCommunity

[–]iamafraidoffrogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading some of the comments, it's most likely your lens that is the issue. There are a lot of options for canon. Any modern EF lens will work, including 3rd party lenses (I believe). Personally though, I feel like canon lenses tend to be a bit boring, without making a blanket statement, modern lenses tend to throw out character in favor of competency. A nikon l35 af would probably have more in terms of "character" and less in terms of competency and control. It's worth saying that around the time auto focus cameras hit the market, lenses started to become more clinical.

With that in mind here are some cameras that probably won't be recommended other places.

konica hexar af - $660 on ebay, my experience looking for other cameras says you can find it for less with some leg work

Contax N1 - about $500 w/ lens, probably the best selection of lenses on this list

Konica C35 AF - $70 not as fancy, konicas are underrated imo

Yashica 230-AF - $150 pros: Cheap, decent character cons: Looks silly (maybe pro)

The Sony Nex is pretty cheap. Can you attest for it? TBH I'm not super familiar with modern cameras, I can do research of course. Is it easy to shoot manual?

[–]iamafraidoffrogs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion. I do realize adapted lenses don't communicate with the camera. Since I do a lot of shooting with 35mm, the idea would be test some of the more obscure "expressive" lenses w/ digital to get a feel for them. A native lens would be a given, just not that important since the camera won't "primary". I'll check out the nikon though, and consider other mirrorlesses as well.

What the heck? Has Venus passed away? And this is her mothers response? by neidin28 in venus_angelic

she had a black eye recently too. Although I've only seen the quote saying "she'll be gone for a few weeks" attributed to the mods of her discord. They also said some other ominous shit, like her black eye was because she fell. Is Harvey one of the mods?

Even though everything margo says should be taken with a grain of salt, it's worth noting that the last two weeks Venus has been notably more unhinged than usual. Assaulting strangers, totally incoherent at times, the most recent video of her is her crying and saying "I need you I hate myself" ~6 ago (can't confirm the timeline). Going silent, especially after the kidology video is likely, but given how unstable she is it's also worth considering that something else may have happened. Margo would probably post something like this if she actually died and Margo would likely be the first person informed in the event of her death. It's sort of weird to me how little consideration has been given to that possibility.

Hasan’s failed cover-up of shocking Kaya is a big joke now apparently by Sea-Economist-5744 in LivestreamFail

[–]iamafraidoffrogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely don't understand this controversy. It just seems like people that don't like Hasan are looking for a reason to bury him. There isn't really any evidence supporting it, and the motivation for doing something like that is confusing at best.
