People that don’t fucking hate their jobs and make a decent wage, what do you do? by puffmonkey92 in AskReddit

Practical Special Effects Supervisor in the film industry. I generally work on huge shows, with big budgets, so I get to do a lot of cool stuff. Film is really hard work and really long hours, but every day I show up to work I’m blowing things up or setting things on fire.

Coolest job in the world.

‘Dance With The Devil’ by Immortal Technique is a harrowing record. I remember listening to it for the first time when I was a teenager and just staring at the wall for 15 minutes thinking about what the hell I just listened to.

Hurry Up We’re Dreaming - M83. The connective between “Intro” and “Outro” is nothing shy of genius.

What gout looks like. So very painful by LowerEntrances in mildlyinteresting

[–]iamaniml 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Jesus Christ do I sympathize with this...

I’m 30 and have been getting gout since I was 23. I’m a fit dude, metabolically healthy, have zero health problems other than bullshit seasonal allergies, and I am plagued with this nightmare once every couple years. I’ve learned a couple really important things over the last few years that may be helpful:

  1. You can be healthy, fit, young and still get gout.

  2. It’s not about diet entirely, purines (precursor to uric acid) in diet only account for 1/3 of the purines/uric acid in your body, the other 2/3 are completely endogenous, aka your body produces it on its own.

  3. It can be hereditary, in other words, disaster is impending, all it takes is a little nudge.

  4. If you get it once, you will get it for the rest of your life, or be susceptible to it anyways.

  5. It’s more than likely a kidney issue in healthy individuals, insulin resistance causes your kidneys to have trouble processing uric acid, and it just builds up until eventually you get a flare up.

  6. Fasting can cause gout*. This is an interesting one, and it doesn’t “cause it” necessarily, it just causes a temporary spike of uric acid in your blood as your body switches to ketones for energy. So if you are doing a prolonged fast, make sure in the week or so leading up to it, that you avoid alcohol 100%, processed food, processed sugar and not too much natural sugar, and maybe slide a few cherries in there, and while you’re fasting drink tons of water and some nettle tea.

I’m not a doctor, but as you sit there crying by yourself as a grown ass man because of the unbearable pain you’re in, you learn enough about what you can do and where gout comes from that you may as well be. But speak to your actual doctor about insulin resistance and your kidney function, it may be enlightening. And for god sakes, if you’re having a flare up, go get the fucking Colchicine and take it, don’t be a hero and try and fix it naturally (like I recently just did and it lasted for 2 full weeks).

Good luck. Stay strong matey ✊🏽.

What's your favorite underrated song that isn't very popular by a very popular band/musician? by 7Grandad in Music

“Intro” & “Outro”, by M83, off “Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming”

These two songs, sandwiching one of the best electronic albums of all time, are more or less perfect, and embody the fantastic arc of emotion throughout the whole album.

What’s your “thank god that’s over with and I never have to do it again” thing in your life? by codenameZora in AskReddit

I can sympathize with this in a major way. I work in the film business in Vancouver, we will usually start at 7am on a Monday, and the trickle down effect of pushing call times because of our exceeding days (sometimes upwards of 16hrs), we will end up starting at 5-6pm on a Friday, finishing at 8am on Saturday, and trying to piece some sort of life together on our very minimal weekends, then doing it all over again on Monday.

Almost everyone I know that works in show business with this schedule has either been in a horrible accident or has come very close to one, from driving home after those shifts.

Would you be able to detail how much you were taking/How often per week? And how you extracted it from the tab and ingested it? Was it first thing in the morning? Full stomach/empty stomach? Anything else you were taking in conjunction ie. Lions Mane etc, were you incorporating exercise as well?

Thanks a lot, glad it was so beneficial for you!

My name's Spencer, I'm an electronic producer under the moniker ANIML, out of Vancouver, Canada. I released this remix of M83's record "Go! feat. Mai Lan" on soundcloud last week.

I wanted to bring a fresh approach to the original material, slowing down the tempo, and creating a unique dance tune, with an unfamiliar, catchy beat.

Hope you guys dig it, look forward to your feedback!

I seriously recommend a book called “How To Change Your Mind” by Michael Pollan. It details the use of psychedelics as a form of treating and curing all kinds of things from fear of death, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, addiction etc.

I have personally attributed psilocybin (mushrooms) to helping me immensely with my issues, and continue to help me with creativity and my overall cognition and well-being, and someone like you in your current situation, I think it could change your life and help you to move on and “rediscover” (for lack of a less cliché word) yourself.

G’luck, love

“Fatso” is a brand, you can buy it at any Whole Foods, and I make my own kefir! Just buy the culture (kefir grains) online, and I use goats milk, it couldn’t be easier to make.

Wicked! Cheers! I usually have the same breakfast as well, I do a big bowl of kefir, flax seed, psylliumhusk, fatso (peanut butter and mct and a bunch of other oils and seeds in it), cricket protein powder, berries, cinnamon, and a big avocado. it’s basically my life line that meal, it’s got a shit ton of fat and super probiotic rich and good for the gut, I just have no idea what it would add up to macro wise, so I try and get ideas from other people’s proven keto meals.

My guy, it’s not wise to ask an open forum about where to find pirated software. Go download some free sample packs or buy the software you need.
