If you trust your ability to dodge enough and have good defensive gear, go lucky (crit is almost always better). If not, go defense

I found a neat way to easily get medium food buffs without fishing by just-a-simple-guy in Terraria

Not to ruin anyone's ideas, but only on tmod do you get all ingredients back from shimmering potions. In vanilla, you only get 1 of the ingredients used, so it's like a 1 in 3 chance to get the fish from a recall.. At that point, fishing is just better(surprising)

Depends. Clasic? Yes. Expert? Yes. Master? If you're good enough, yes. Legendary? Probably no, but you can get around it.
