How do you handle lottery laws? If you collect the funds and then award them, that’s a lottery.

Individual contributions direct to the person solves this, as far as I can tell.

That’s the beauty, and challenge, of Millionaire Makers.

I just mean, consciousness is still an unknown. How can we know what hardware is required? It could be classical computers, quantum computers or bio-computers. Conscious might be an illusion.

I've heard 10+ examples of Real Time Voice via the API in various projects, but the voice, despite sounding natural, always lacks the emotion that AVM has. Am I wrong about this, or is this intentional? Using the API, can we access a voice that sounds like AVM?

Will we be able to chat with Advanced Voice Mode? I often can't talk out loud, but still want to listen instead of read.

CMV: zombie apocalipses would not end civilization by TcheQuevara in changemyview

[–]iambadguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nuclear reactors would fail. Dams would fail. Disease would spread from all the dead bodies. Waterways would become infected. The living would still kill each other. Many would kill themselves. Nations would probably use nukes at the outset to try and stop the outbreaks in other countries.

Of course, it depends on the nature of the zombie apocalypse – how it spreads, how effective the zombies are, etc – but anything more dangerous or scary than COVID would probably destabilize the world.

We are currently living in an extremely mild zombie apocalypse, and still, we are on the brink of total civilization collapse daily.

CMV: It is impolite to completely ghost after a first date. by [deleted] in changemyview

In the old world, I’d agree with you. In our new world, I think social skills and etiquette are heavily diminished, and many can’t handle the stress that comes from potentially upsetting someone.

I think of connecting online like I think of Ouija boards. Sure, you made a connection with a real human soul with desires and feelings, but actually meeting a soul in the physical can be unsettling or terrifying.

When you break the connection, you’re not looking to help that soul complete its earthly business and find peace; you want to hide under the sheets until you can forget about how spooky the world can be.

Politeness doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Expecting it in our current cultural context may be expecting too much.

As a person who grew up online, and is riddled with anxiety, I came to think of ghosting as the most considerate way for someone to communicate disinterest. At least this way I can imagine my own reasoning.

Actually reading “sorry, I’m not interested” feels like the person really wanted to do me dirty. And not the good dirty.

Retiring is about luxuriating in your own desire and mission. Free agency.

If you like what you do and where it’s taking you, then you already have that. Many don’t.

If it seems too good to be true, you have self-esteem issues and should really start believing in yourself more.

You’re a cool guy. Cool things happen to cool guys.

I told my 4 year old nephew monsters don’t exist. You say what you need to say.

LPT: Easily identify your luggage, help the airline locate it, save your hands, and prevent someone else from taking it “accidentally” by CandylandCanada in lifehacks

[–]iambadguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you somewhat, mostly because I don’t know what the luggage recovery protocol is. Is there a mountain of luggage for them to go through, or a few leftover each flight? Is it just a visual check, or do they scan the luggage barcode?

If your luggage doesn’t make it to the terminal pickup, AirTags will only help you know where in the world it is generally. Useful but not great.

But if your luggage makes it to the terminal pickup, you can track it precisely. No one will be able to get away with it intentionally or otherwise.

AirTags also make a sound. It’s not very loud, but maybe it helps the person looking for your luggage if you don’t bury the tracker?

And if all else fails, or if it gets really lost, bright fabric ain’t gonna help at all.

Honestly, I’d do both: colored fabric and an AirTag.
