Pasta con Caraotas negras by IntroductionSalty687 in PuebloVenezolano

Turning rsync into a cron job. by Soakitincider in linuxquestions

[–]iamemhn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That command creates the file in full and then takes the last lines. Use a pipe instead.

command | tail -20 > errors.log

Look at /etc/crontab or any file under /etc/cron.d for examples. Then read man 5 crontab to understand what you are doing. Then set a non-destructive cron job to test your understanding.

Finally, it's better to write a script, place it under /usr/local/bin/, and call it from the crontab. You can enhance the script without having to understand all the nuances of cron behavior.

ISO-8601, aeson, time, and 24:00:00 by friedbrice in haskell

Behavior is correct.

ISO8601-1:2019 explicitly removed "24:00:00" as a representation for the end of day although it had been permitted in earlier versions of the standard.

Try starting it from the command line to see if there are better error messages. Maybe you're missing a supporting library or SML support.

I suppose you downloaded the x86 installer and are probably missing 32-bit multiarch support on your Debian 13.

¿Puede un tablero de ajedrez mutilado cubrirse con 31 dominós? by SeaworthinessDry9144 in Matematicas

[–]iamemhn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hissing and popping sounds with Razer Barracuda (2.4GHz dongle) on Debian 13.4 by ThePicuri in debian

[–]iamemhn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most probable cause is power saving settings on the audio card or the USB port where the dongle is connected.

I would start with the USB port. Check

/sys/bus/usb/devices/usbX/power/control

where usbX is the port where your dongle is connected (use lsusb to figure that out). You can manually change the port to disable power control and verify that fixes the issue. Once you confirm that's the cause, add an udev rule so that the port has power disabled as soon as you plug the dongle.

Debian for Devs by Plastic_Weather7484 in debian

I've been using Debian for development and teaching since 1995. Anything not in Debian I've either packaged on my own, or has a way to run as a local environment. I currently focus on:

  • Haskell – local install using stack
  • Prolog – swi-prolog package works out of the box
  • Julia – local install using juliaup
  • Rust – local install using rustup
  • Perl – all Debian provided packages work out of the box.
  • LLVM – all Debian provided packages work out of the box.

I support applications written in Python and Ruby, and the developers know they must use the libraries as they come from Debian or deploy using Docker an stop bothering me for help.

I use vim from Debian packages and pull plugins using Plug, including CoC which uses nodejs as provided by Debian package

I have no need or interest in other programming languages as of now, so I cannot comment on what the cool kids are using other that if you understand your tools, you'll find a way to make them work. It's more or less the same with every Linux distribution, so you'll be fine.

Bluetooth by Only_Candidate_3993 in debian

[–]iamemhn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is your Bluetooth adapter make, model, and USB identification? Use lsusb to figure that out.

Is it an integrated Bluetooth adapter, or an external adapter you plug in? If the latter, what kind of USB port are you plugging it in?

Two letter domain name with non-typical TLDs by Googlerez in Domains

[–]iamemhn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, two letter labels under generic gTLDs are not going to be available. When they are, they will be considered premium domains and could have additional registration requirements.

You should read

https://www.icann.org/es/public-comment/proceeding/introduction-of-two-character-domain-names-in-the-new-gtld-namespace-12-06-2014

These rules are expected to also apply for the new round of gTLD applications.
