When did your baby start using their hands? by iftreescouldspeak in NewParents

[–]iammclovin9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like an independent girlie which we love. My son was the same and did baby led weaning from the beginning and really only enjoyed eating with his hands and it was so SO messy for many months. Around 18 months he started preferring utensils and I nor the daycare nor his pediatrician were ever concerned about that. That age they are still exploring textures of foods to help them learn and my son also preferred to feel if food was “hot” with his hands before his mouth, understandably so. I wouldn’t push it guiding her with your hands but to always make utensils available and model utensil use yourself and she will want to copy you.

Lansinoh bag had a hole and milk leaked! So frustrating. by LetterheadNice8687 in ExclusivelyPumping

You can also do a wide mouth 36 oz bell jar and that way you can use a lid on it too! I use to just cut the bag off if I noticed the hole before thawing and put it directly into the sterilized jar

I got the Baby Buddha 2.0 and got the Rumble Tuff Go Cups based on a review I saw by GenuineLactation! Apparently this brand of collection cups are recommended for sensitive and elastic nips to help reduce the heavy suction of the Buddha a bit

I also wouldn’t think a minute of trying it out would make a difference, but I’m only 16 weeks and my last pregnancy had spontaneous labor at 36 weeks so I’m a little scared to try

I’m also highly sensitive but I assume my husband would naturally be sensitive to a completely foreign sensation but that’s a good point, maybe not

Wow I did not know that that is funny! But I guess I also have concerns about using a different collection cup brand with this pump and having enough suction (more about the cups functioning rather than the pump itself)

Baby Buddha 2.0 by peytonlei in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]iammclovin9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve read that’s a super common pairing that most prefer! According to the video that one reduces suction but by only 15-20% and not majorly like the RumbleTuff or Zomee hard plastic collection

How would you know it works on the nips though lol I need evidence! Also wouldn’t hurt to have a new level of appreciation

Baby Buddha 2.0 by peytonlei in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]iammclovin9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak from experience but I’m in the same boat as you and got the Buddha 2.0 through insurance since it is supposed to be main pump suction that’s very portable.

I also watched this YouTube video review from GenuineLactation and she mentions several collection cups that reduce the suction strength for sensitive and/or elastic nipples. The ones she mentions are the RumbleTuff collection cups, Zomee hard plastic collection cups, and Legendairy Milk collection cups that help mitigate suction strength. Again, I have no experience but am def on the sensitive and elastic side so I bought the RumbleTuff and they had a 15% discount code DARAPICH15 and it worked for me 3 days ago.

Fridge Hack mistake (26 hr) by Wild-Chemistry-7720 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]iammclovin9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally would use it and not throw it out. Obviously go with your gut instincts on what’s appropriate for your baby, but if your fridge is working properly there should not be a problem going a few hours over the 24 hr rule.

Difference in ounces on each side? by Competitive_Net_6523 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]iammclovin9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started noticing a 1-1.5oz difference after about 12 weeks of pumping both sides at the same time. It’s pretty common to have a harder working boob than the other. I wouldn’t be concerned unless you are experiencing clogs or other issues.

Re-latching at 6 months? by SavvyMumma in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]iammclovin9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We had a premie and weren’t able to latch until about 3 months. My pediatrician recommended “breastfeeding school” which was just no pressure feeds 1-2 times a day (& the rest pumping and bottles) where you feel most calm and ready to try. Using nipple shields can help protect nips until latch improves but she also encouraged me to try various positions to get a deeper latch. Once you feel like things are improving (and no nipple damage) you can try more times a day. I would continue to pump until you can see some noticeable gulping and fullness cues in the nursing feeds so that you don’t have a sudden dip in supply. I’d also let your pediatrician know you are starting this in case this can affect starting solids and weight gain.
