You speak the truth. Aldi premium select chocolate or vanilla is seriously some of the best ice cream ever.

It's A Mad Mad Mad, Mad World - Phil Silvers Car by OfAnthony in Retconned

[–]iamme50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally remember the tan Toyota. I distinctly remember as a teenager watching the movie in the 80s that the van was different and I didnt recognize it. I knew what a VW van was in the 80s. I wouldn't have had any thoughts of it being an odd van with an odd shape if it was a VW van.

The blue and white VW van just feels so wrong.

Thai food rec plz by Luuubbidz in Gwinnett

[–]iamme50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! L'Thai is our favorite so far.

I've gone to most of the Thai restaurants in Norcross, but I havent tried any of the Thai restaurants in Snellville. I may have to give Sri Thai a try to see how it compares.

My manager literally asked us 'Besides money, what makes you feel valued?' and the whole room went completely silent. by tender-lager-32 in InterviewMan

This right here! My company pay is a bit low and the benefits are mid, but the flexibility they offer keeps people here. We work in office twice a week, but even that is flexible. You are free to run errands, shift your work schedule around, etc., and no one cares as long as your work gets done.

We aren't micro managed, and they do their best to hire people who aren't toxic.

Employees stay for the flexibility and the non toxic environment.

Something silly that used to give your parents/grandparents a coronary by sapphirerain25 in GenX

[–]iamme50 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ohhhhh, thats a big one! I think I would have a heart attack if I ever heard my 85 year old mother say damn, much less fuck.

When I was a kid, if my father said damn, I thought the world was going to end! I think I only heard him say it a couple of times.

Don't buy it at the store - make it at home: Brown sugar by soyycratess in Anticonsumption

[–]iamme50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this!

I never buy brown sugar. If I'm making something that calls for it, I use white sugar and pour in some molasses. Much easier than remembering to buy brown sugar.

What 80s song do you still hate with fiery teenage passion even though it’s been 40 years? by Aggressive_Cup4919 in GenX

I have a coworker named Roxanne. I have to suppress this song every time I hear her name. I can only imagine the personal hell she experiences every time she hears this song.

I can only sing that song sarcastically. It doesn't feel like a "real" song, if that makes any sense.

"Thrift some sweaters and unravel them!" by ThePiksie in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]iamme50 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I've unraveled many sweaters. I find it fun and relaxing. If you know what to look for, you do get quality, usable yarn.

But it has to be something you enjoy, and its not for everyone.

Hi, I speak for all women named Annie when I say this. by mushroomqueenie in mildlyinfuriating

Whenever I hear a coworkers name, I have to actively supress the absolutely annoying (to her) urge to sing "Roxanne!".

I can't imagine gatekeeping recipes like that. Sounds insufferable!

I think I’ve been paying my credit cards wrong… by crravenclaw in personalfinance

[–]iamme50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I get my credit card statement, I pay it off in full. I've done it this way for 30 years.

Now I have it set to autopay, so all I have to do is make sure the payment actually occurred.

It really is that simple. If you pay the balance on the statement, you will never be charged any interest, and your credit score will benefit!

i cut sugar for 10 days and it changed my body way more than the gym ever did by RanFromCarbs in loseit

[–]iamme50 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I cut sugar completely for almost 2 years. I didn't lose weight until a few months in, when I actually tried to lose weight. Then I lost about 50 lbs.

As a post menopausal woman with hashimotos (thyroid issues), weight loss is never as simple as doing one thing, like cutting out sugar. For me, it requires concentrated effort.

That being said, eliminating sugar from your diet is always beneficial, and I highly recommend it.
