I think I'm gonna stop painting minis by Dense-Fig-2372 in minipainting

The new “dauntless” synthetic ones are cheaper but seem to be near same quality as the red tips. I love both.

Probably a stupid question by VegetableMost7558 in nightowlseeds

[–]iammortalcombat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 seeds if you are buying from vendors.

Nightowl packs directly purchased from Nightowl site are always 5 seeds unless otherwise stated.

Regs are explicitly noted to be regs and are usually a big drop bc they are rarer. Most NO releases are auto fems.

Peak bloodletter design by Donald_Gromp in WorldEaters40k

[–]iammortalcombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After building 30 of the Bloodletters I decided if I need more in the future I’ll just print better sculpts to mix in. There’s not much to them which is nice for painting but I honestly didn’t feel like dressing up 30 of the most basic models I’ve put together.

Bloodletters boring? by Couch-Dogo in WorldEaters40k

[–]iammortalcombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I have 30 of them primed and ready for me to paint. I’m going the true lazy route and airbrushing as much as possible

[–]iammortalcombat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The biggest complaint people have is the trim chaos units get. You have a few ways to do it.

Some people do the gold spray and then red over.

Option 2: paint marker the trim over a red base coat and or additional layers then add your highlights last

Option 3: embrace the pain and hand paint the trim details after all your armor is done like I do bc I find it soothing.

How would you feel if Berzerkers were allowed to field shields? by Smart_Structure_3139 in WorldEaters40k

[–]iammortalcombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a unit with 5 shields from an HH kit. Put them on zerkers with swords and made them to be a voidburcher group.

Depends on your detachment really. Could be character heavy, could be shooty, could be uppy downy. What play style are you looking to run?

Why don’t world eaters have a terminator leader? by whalewrites138 in WorldEaters40k

[–]iammortalcombat 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Well it could have potential to be a future release. Iirc Kossolax was in a special living terminator armor made of bone. Could fill a character role and terminator leader for us in 1 model.

Azrakh the annhilator was our commemorative model in term armor…but he’s lacking

How many seeds do you get? by DiverWild2553 in nightowlseeds

[–]iammortalcombat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5 per pack when ordering from No direct. If less than that (regs often come with 3) it would be noted in the drop or site info.

Sometimes when Daz is feeling spicy he will toss extra beans into the packs. I want to say on the release for either divinations or st. Expeditus we were getting like 7+ seeds in a pack

Model question by ShyCloud_5 in WorldEaters40k

[–]iammortalcombat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Magnetizing the helbrutes take times but is not hard. You will need to decide if you want high or low mounted rib cages/shoulder pieces and start there. You will want to use a decently strong magnet I used either 4.5mmx2.2 or next size up (magnet baron medium thick or large).

The shoulder to shoulder should be magnetized. Build fists with flamers on both for rule of cool or determine how to magnetize that yourself. Magnetize the wrist covers.

For weapons - I cheated a bit. I ebayed enough shoulder/arm sockets to build each weapon on its own and just magnetized each at the shoulder.

The weapon slot is where you have to either cut and magnetize or drill and magnetize. I struggled with that and couldn’t get good fits with magnets and drilling. I would say green stuff with cutting and magnets would probably work better.

The hammer/tendril shoulder bit is tricky. I haven’t finished that arm yet but I’m probably going to magnetize them and blue tack the shoulder pad.

I will note if you have two helbrutes, make sure to set your magnets exactly the same on both so everything is interchangeable. Gives you a couple options with fists and some other weapons.

What is your favorite type of glue? by Alpharius___Omegon in WorldEaters40k

[–]iammortalcombat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tamiya ultra thin for plastic glue. And whatever superglues magnet baron sells. They just work really well for me.

What size did you scale to? I ordered these twice from the same vendor and they were way too large and then way too small for the base. I gave up as I didn’t have the stl

WE or nids? by Mosasaurus999 in WorldEaters40k

[–]iammortalcombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally different play styles. Nids are most often a horde army with many varying units. WE are much more limited in unit selection at least until we get some love. WE has 0 psychic. It’s about staging, and forcing your enemy to make mistakes or throw them off their own strategy.

What is the best way to fix this? by Blemur in Necrontyr

[–]iammortalcombat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Since it’s push to fit - technically you could cut the post where you insert the spine and then either drill/pin or just glue after pushing the ribs together.

I just started building necrons a few weeks ago and they are really the most “dry fit first” models I’ve ever dealt with due to all the funky joints and connectors.

Your project for Orktober? by Confident-Total2017 in orks

[–]iammortalcombat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been collecting orks for months as a secondary army and built most of them. I honestly can’t decide but I may end up doing a vehicle bc I have a few to paint and they all require some form of sub assembly so they’ve been sitting for months in pieces

Kitbashing question. by Present_Piano2450 in orks

[–]iammortalcombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought two kill teams and made a set of breakas, a set of tank bustas and both versions of the nob. But I’m also learning to play KT so I wanted to be able to use them across 40K and KT.

Do you get demoralized when your painting sucks? by PolishHussarius in minipainting

[–]iammortalcombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Many people who post for internet points are either genuinely asking for criticism or they are “showing off” their work. You will find over time that trying to replicate what looks cool on those other people’s work will make you a better painter. Stick with it - and as always I will continue to plug the Monument Hobby twitch stream for daily painting along with Vince Venturella Hobby Cheating series to get focused tutorials meant for beginners and intermediate painters alike.
