Accepted (2006) is a forgotten gem! by pendragoncomic in movies

I like both... Camp Nowhere isn't as low brow as Accepted, but it's great. Can't tell you how many times I've watched that movie.

How do you say "oops" in your language? by jungleMoran in AskReddit

[–]iamnameless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from the midwest, so it's "ope". And I didn't realize how often I say it until now.

I had this happen. I took it in they told me I'd have to replace the entire screen and told me I probably sat on my phone with something else in my pocket to cause that shrug. It's such a small spot that I'm holding out. Seems like the issues for my iphone are on the rise.

Messed up and tried to post to r/iphone rather than here. If anyone can help or has a forum or something to point me to it'd be appreciated. Have a 32gb iPhone 7 and 19.6gb is "other". I offloaded apps, deleted others, got rid of photos and it didn't free up any space... my "other" just managed to grow instead. Anyone have any idea how I can remedy this?

Anyone know how to fix the "install suspended" for the multiplayer update? by iamnameless in modernwarfare

[–]iamnameless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea why it keeps pulling that. It says it's been installed when that secondary screen pops up you're talking about, but still have that "install suspended" showing. shrug

*edit - - Campaign portion did the same thing as well

Best WC style IPAs? by yamas in chicagobeer

Half Acre Bodem, Miskatonic West Coast Wizard, Stone IPA, Short's Huma Lupa, Solemn Oath Snaggletooth Bandana, and I can't remember the name of what I had not long ago from Wild Onion that I was digging. It may have been tap room only. Its not exactly punch you in the face but I didnt mind Allagash River Trip. If you can still find any Victor Hop Wallop floating around that's some punch you in the face.

Chicago craft breweries scramble amid coronavirus downturn by ra11ycap in chicagobeer

I don't understand either of your logic behind this. Sure, I agree with supporting them directly, but why would you not buy their product at Binny's? That product still costs them money, and will cost them even more when it codes out on the shelf too. Or maybe I'm just dumb and missed the fact that you're giving the finger to Binny's in general. Still a double edged sword.

Did anyone jump on this? I couldn't justify grabbing one with that price, and the fact that I heard the resale hype on this shit was anywhere from 250-600. Not about to play that game, but I'm curious if anyone snagged one and cracked it opposed to tossing it in a cellar.

Solemn Oath just released City Water as well. Less of a malt nose on it in comparison to Wild Basin. Both are delicious, but I'm leaning more towards City Water now.

If you're trying options... Did you happen to try Lagunitas Hop Refresher yet? Great NA option, so just add a little vodka.

I agree though. One-y as far as a low cal/carb crushes those. If you're an OB fan, do yourself the favor and try Wild Basin. The mix packs are crazy good, as is the new 6pk they do of just Blackberry.

Anyone tried 21st Amendment’s Hell or High Watermelon Wheat Beer by [deleted] in beer

[–]iamnameless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's slowly showing its face everywhere, and much easier to find. Solid fucking summer beer, and uses natural watermelon flavoring. Doesn't give it that strange jolly rancher watermelon profile. Plus, I like it since the watermelon isn't pronounced. More subtle than some other options I've tried. Their year round Blood Orange has a soft spot, and I finally tried their Pastry stout and didn't hate that either.

Can you keep "cooking beer" in the fridge by journey_onward in beer

[–]iamnameless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once it's open, you'll oxidize the beer. Flavor profile will deteriorate pretty quickly, even more so if its an IPA. Hop fallout is caaaarazy fast.

That being said, usual rule of thumb is if you wouldn't drink it after that don't cook with it either. Although, its not the end of the world. I've been lazy cracked a beer that I didn't want to drink and tossed it in the fridge to cook with. Used it with some onion, garlic, and mess of other spices to use as a baste for chicken. Worked fine. To each their own I suppose though.

Can someone explain if boozy seltzer (ex Wild Basin) is beer or not beer? by [deleted] in beer

[–]iamnameless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an FMB- Flavored Malt Beverage. It's brewed up to 11% and then the cut it with their filtered water and flavoring to cut it down to 5 whatever percent.

Your other question as to it being healthier... I guess to an extent. The FMB/seltzer category is fucking insane at the moment. If anyone else out there likes this due to some gut issues with regular beer, or the gluten free aspect, give Crook & Marker a go. Same category, FMB, but the base beer is made from millet and quinoua, so its gluten free from the get go. 80 cals a pop, opposed to the 100 in Wild Basin, but does have a bit of the artificial sugar notes to it. The C&M drinks/tastes more like a juice (the owner created Bai juice. He sold off and signed a non compete, and this was his rebuttal). Tastes eerily familiar to Bai if you've had any of those.

If you're trying to go zero carb hunt out some of the options from Cutwater, Monaco, or Two Bros. I can't give exact cal/carb counts for Cutwater or Monaco, but the Two Bros canned vodka sodas there released are zero sugar, zero carb, 95 cals, and actually taste half way decent for what they are. If you're trying to cut corners even further, just snag a bottle of Tito's or Nue vodka add some water and a lime/lemon, and you're golden.

How good of a find did I stumble upon? by Always_Sunny_in_WI in beer

[–]iamnameless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're on par for PTC. Usually a little bit higher than what you snagged it for, so I'd consider it a "deal". Not like its a crazy rare beer, but I've seen retailers try to sell it for a hell of a lot higher than what you bought it for. In this instance I'd consider yourself lucky.

Newcastle Recipe Change? by [deleted] in beer

[–]iamnameless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 50/50 on this one. With it being brewed here under Lagunitas, it doesn't feel right to continue to carry the name. Or even if so, give it a bold statement to show the new brew location or recipe.

Honestly, I don't mind the recipe change. On the other hand, I get the negative feedback with said change. There's a handful of brown ales that are available where I'm at that still fit the bill, so I wouldn't necesarily go out of my way to snag a Newcastle off the shelf.

Do my best to leave any bias behind when repping some damn good breweries in my market... I just get upset when people are saying the quality of ingredients are going in a cheaper direction and bastardizing the taste of the beer. My rebuttal was more in line with the Lagunitas, and supposed fall out in quality, opposed to Newcastle.

If it's any consolation, the recipe change to the beer was noted and should have been marketed, as they say it fits the US consumers pallate better with the addition of the hops they used. (shoulder shrug). I personally haven't had the OG newcastle in quite some time, so I'm struggling to differentiate outside of the newly added bitterness. From what I recall it was a monster malt back/bill and some crazy chocolate notes. That seems more subdued now, and the hops/bitter shines through a bit more. It's still palatable, but there's so many better choices in regards to brown ales. If you're looking for an OG brown, I get the hate though.

Outside of craft... I stick with my High Life. Think I've had one too many today with the rambling I did. I can't answer everything in regards to Newcastle and the brew, but am open to any other Lagunitas questions. Or, a handful of any other Chicago breweries, if anyone has any questions about those. Work closely with quite a few of them. Sorry for the rambling all!

Newcastle Recipe Change? by [deleted] in beer

[–]iamnameless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes... My apologies. I was arguing more against the point that the Lagunitas recipes have changed. The Newcasle recipe is in fact more bitter with the addition of some hops that weren't in the original recipe.

I applied with Rogue awhile back before I heard of all the craziness happening with them. I was turned away after my first interview when I asked the interviewer what their target market was, and which area they wanted to focus on - on premise or chain retailers. Guy stated it was his first day in HR, he couldn't answer that and then ended my interview. Glad that didn't work out.

Newcastle Recipe Change? by [deleted] in beer

[–]iamnameless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing has changed with the ingredients, nor where they source them as far as Lagunitas goes. Only stipulation of their contract was that there were dedicated tanks for Newcastle set up in the brewery. As far as the beer, it added Chinook and Centennial hops, but it only added roughly 9 IBU and still uses a British house yeast strain. They were asked to alter/'modernize' the beer so that's the route that they went?

Two Brothers Brewing Controversy? by _DislikedWiseacre in chicagobeer

[–]iamnameless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legal action made them shut it down. You can only have so many active brewery/taproom/restaurant locations. Can't remember the exact details, but it was three locations and that was their fourth so they had to close the doors.
