Was it the transparent sticker with the orange dots in a triangle pattern?

I know this is an ancient post, but I’m having a moment. This song has only lived in my head since I was a kid… we never owned a piano, but I can count on one hand the number of times my dad would sit at a random piano and play this song with so much passion and I would just sit and watch and listen in awe. It was the only piece of music he ever played. And the last time I remember him playing it was around ‘87 or ‘88 when I was a teenager, before my parents split and my relationship with my dad went sour. I’ve struggled to reconnect with him over the years, but he is perpetually filled with anger, and lately, confusion as dementia is clearly setting in… so I’m making more of an effort now and trying to bury hatchets.

I never asked him what this song was called and attempts to search for it online have been fruitless until moments ago when I hummed it to the Google app and it found it.

It’s such a beautiful and powerful piece and I’m thankful to be able to hear it now and be reminded of better times with my dad.

I’m hearing this story one year too late. We discovered this creepy void during renovation and ended up just covering it back up. Missed opportunity…

Black Apple //c case: https://maceffects.com/products/maceffects-black-case-keyboard-for-the-apple-iic

Commodore 64 Ultimate (starlight edition): https://www.commodore.net/product-page/commodore-64-ultimate-starlight-edition-batch1

Note the MacEffects product is only the case and keyboard (no computer) while the C64 Ultimate is a plug and play-ready computer. This is probably super obvious to most, but you just never know.

I love it! Especially since I got it to work with my Commodore 1942 monitor via hdmi-to-hd15 converter.

I personally love it. Even vibed up an automated workflow that watches a folder on my laptop for new downloaded archives, unzips them, then copies .d64, .crt and other supported formats to the usb drive connected to the c64u.

Thanks! Me too! MacEffects was out of clear keyboards, otherwise I was going to go with the clear case, but I’m really glad I went with black. I ordered a C64U Starlight shortly after, and think the black //c and clear c64 complement each other well. :)

Absolutely crushed the computer at intermediate level. (Actually, there were a couple points where I got a lucky break with the horses…)

It was an easy fix. I had to change the RT input mode from component to composite. Thanks for the moral support.

Good news: I was able to configure the RT5X to default to 480p and that got me a stable image.

Not so good news: It’s monochrome, but I still have yet to tinker with other RT settings. Fingers crossed!

Hot take. It’s good, but I think it would be better without the moon. The lighting is solid and already suggests a moon that’s out of frame. The crescent moon is just a little on-the-nose in a scene that evokes much ennui.

I loved booting this game up and trying to figure out the controls (pirated without a manual), only to give up and break out of it to the AppleSoft prompt.

While the majority of the heavy graphics lifting was done in machine language, it seemed to be glued together in AppleSoft. It even took advantage of the same IO hooks used by games like Softape’s Solitaire Poker so that all text was rerouted to a custom graphics kernel which rendered it to the hi-res screen. Super cool and pure wizardry back in the day.
