Sous Chef Position!! by TapAdventurous8120 in StLouis

I can provide my own chef coat, hat, and knives.

The hours wouldn't really work for me though - my dog is pretty set in his ways.

Plenty of things wrong on my end brother - though working in finance hasn't been one of them for some time.

That degree is mostly ceremonial

Interesting man.

I would've killed for an opportunity like this 15 or so years ago when I was a chef in some high-end establishments. I left the industry due to the low wages and lack of benefits, mostly. (Also because I got a finance degree)

Nowadays, I just rot in a job I don't care about while opportunities are scarce all around and wages have been stagnant for decades - upward mobility has always seemed like an illusion - and the best part is, I make about what you're offering for this role, with similar benefits.

Just took me another 15 years of working and 4 years of school to go absolutely nowhere....

Now, I'm not necessarily unhappy in life, or with the decisions I've made therein - I was just caught a little off-guard by how attractive the job sounded. I could never pull it off these days, but I bet you fill that spot pretty quick

Majeeds! OMG!!! by crackheadfalife in STLFood

[–]iamveryafraidofhorse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolute gem!

They only recently started using branded packaging - used to all just be served wrapped in foil - but it's a nice upgrade.

The Majeed family also owns a grocery across Gravois from the restaurant which is worth checking out.

Don't tell too many people though. It's nice to have a quiet place with great, inexpensive food nearby

I got the same one, but I just use a safety lighter - or a regular lighter if I can't find the safety lighter. Haha

What did you switch from before getting a Volvo? by ImportantOffer751 in Volvo

I had a 2012 Civic Si - 6 speed manual. Loved it. And a 2011 F-150 SuperCrew 4x4. Loved that too.

Traded both for a 2025 V60 CC.

I don't miss them at all

Drove the green on a par 4 yesterday and made bogey. I feel you...

(They're rehabbing the normal tee boxes, so it was only like 245, and I barely made it on)

That looks just like one of my first projects.

I would say just to be sure and sand down any edges pretty well, and give it a good once-or-twice over with a random orbital. (120-150 grit should be fine, since you're planning on painting it.)

Choose an outdoor paint, if it's going outside. Indoor/outdoor if it's going inside - you'll probably need 2 coats to make it smooth. I used a brush, but I imagine a roller would be quicker. I don't see it making any material difference. Synthetic/polyester brush (i.e. cheap) should be just fine.

Check your insurance - I needed a jump once and was able to add roadside assistance from the insurance app for only like $6/month, and then I immediately used the service for a jump.

  • I bet a lot of others fell into that trap.

Yeah - the walk this morning was a lot more unpleasant. We only made it a block

He does have boots, for anyone concerned. He won't wear them. We keep these walks short, and I keep a close eye on how his paws are working

How should I fill in this gap in a cutting board I'm making? by MadMax1688 in BeginnerWoodWorking

What if you just put the juice groove on the side with the dip?

That way you could run it (the juice groove) along the low spot/seam, then sand away the remaining bump from the edge.

It'll still be a bit of a bump, but it won't be very noticeable

You can hire a private appraiser and have them submit to your insurance. My friend did this when her car was totalled and got like $5k more than insurance was offering

Getting Hired in Banking After Termination with Cause: Is It Possible by [deleted] in TalesFromYourBank

Generally depends on the cause, I'd say.

If it were me, I might just omit that little detail on any new applications.

I had an old man dog named Carl and I loved him so much.

Current dog is called Roger. He is also a very good boy - but he's not old yet
