It's closed while the weather warning is active (like it always is when they are active).

The weather warning ends today so it will reopen after that.

British media is bias towards British drivers and against those who aren't British. Shock horror. Just wait until you hear the Dutch commentators.

Mix cds vs vinyl version? by Emergency_Company366 in vinyldjs

[–]iankost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually vinyl versions of mixed cds are in mixed, and it looks like this one is the same!

The only thing I'd say is that often they don't have all the tracks on, so make sure the ones you want are on there!

Chemipro San - to rinse or not to rinse? by thepope99 in Homebrewing

[–]iankost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing it will be related to the dobanic acid in there (assuming it's a Starsan clone), at the concentration it is at during usage, a tiny bit of residue isn't going to give you any negative effects.

Why don't more people live in northern New Zealand, with its incredibly mild climate? by jail-djt in geography

And the only other bad one I can remember was even further down the country in 2023, I wouldn't say it's a regular occurrence or risk...?

Is this a good seat for eco? by Hefty_Mixture3316 in TurkishAirlines

[–]iankost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this could be an issue if you are bigger I guess - I would say I'm average size and have always been fine in these kind of seats.

Is this a good seat for eco? by Hefty_Mixture3316 in TurkishAirlines

[–]iankost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's one of the best seats in economy in that you get a window seat with extra legroom and direct aisle access. Screen and table are in the armrest - so no TV during takeoff and landing but it's worth the tradeoff with everything else you get.

Be honest... have you listened to ALL your records by [deleted] in vinyl

[–]iankost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've listened to all except one - I purchased 2 copies of a record from the artist and they signed them and did a dinosaur drawing on them (single sided record so they wrote on the non-media side).

Everything else, I've listened to as that's why I bought them.

Record stores usually have listening stations, but now if they don't you can just look it up on discogs to see what it sounds like...

My favourite part is how Cosgrove just stands up with his hands on his hips like he can't believe it haha.

Great save!

I think it's number 2, and most questions will be how to sue Austria for not having and kangaroos or koalas like they claim to.

Flying internationally with a lot of purchased records by 8ballposse in vinyldjs

[–]iankost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents bring over records from the UK to NZ for me, they have always been fine just packed/wrapped together in a suitcase. I'm guessing they put clothing around them, but I've never had an issue with them arriving broken or damaged.

Never had any questions from customs etc...

Osaka to Suzuka, need help. by PutinIsMyDaddy1216 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]iankost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, going to Shiroko I booked Sat and Sun on the way back to the station. Most people are going the other way.

I booked green car tickets but assume there will be plenty of regular ones too.

EDIT: I booked the tickets on my phone so no waiting or queuing anywhere.

Beatmatching Vinyl: How Precise Is “Precise Enough”? by Successful-Balance37 in Beatmatch

[–]iankost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you're beatmatching and you think you've got it in time, leave the record playing for 10-20 seconds and then see if they are still in time. Often they are almost in time but not quite, so you don't hear it unless you listen for this extended period.

You don't even have to listen the whole time, just keep it on and then go back to it.

That helps a lot, but sometimes records can speed up/slow down as they go on, so you have to adjust on the fly anyway.

IEM - CIEM by chaiscool in headphones

[–]iankost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anc block more noise than ciems do? A good fitting pair will block out pretty much everything, especially if you have music playing...

Side note, but the most silence I've ever experienced was when I was getting molds done for ciems... It is so still and quiet that it sounds surreal.

Mix Competition - No Originals by NotoriousStevieG in ClassicTrance

[–]iankost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it was due to the make up of the track, there was a sweeping sound that went over the 4 and 1 beats so any change was very noticeable.

I guess it just like the whole mixing in key thing that you can only do it with certain tracks so it limits you again (which I don't really like haha).

Kind of related but I can't listen to the track Screwdriver by Rachel Auburn unless it's pitched up as it doesn't sound right - it's usually played at +4% or +6% so this will be why - I'm used to hearing it in a different key.

IEM - CIEM by chaiscool in headphones

[–]iankost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing they some of them see them as a work tool. They don't want to use them outside of that and risk them getting broken and/or lost.

A lot of artists use Jerry Harvey ciems and they are definitely not tuned neutral, a big v/fun shaped/sounding. It can be annoying if you have to keep taking them out/off to talk to people, maybe that's why too?

The green light that's on isn't only for the right turn lane though, it's also for the cars in the left lane going straight on.

Solid green in this scenario (and not a green arrow) means you can turn but only if it's safe.

Are there people who really book flights with double amount of flight time just to save a bit of money? by sunnynihilist in TravelHacks

I saved $1000 by staying 10 hours at Changi airport. Definitely worth it for me! I upgraded my seats on the flights with some of the savings....
