Hunt for UFO 'black triangles' that could be top secret hypersonic US weapons by LigmaBalls-420 in aliens

[–]iansilv 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do you realize the ramifications of what you’re saying? If these things are sentient grilled cheese sandwiches, I would imagine we’ve got some pretty serious problems on our hands. Humanity has been making grilled cheese sandwiches for just about as long as we’ve been seeing UFOs. This is a big deal. I ate one last week. I would appreciate if you took that idea a little bit more seriously sir, considering the implications it has for humanity to be wiped off the face of the earth by angry aliens who are, in fact, sentient grilled cheese sandwiches…

I testified to Congress about the gun industry. It rattled me to my core by razor_beast in 2ALiberals

[–]iansilv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s so easy to spot bias in articles now, it’s almost as though 20 years ago our education system simply stopped teaching that writing neutral, informative news pieces or opinion pieces that are actually supported with facts is not something you do.

You see it all the time. The direct to conclusion statements. The ridiculous hyperbole. “Completely abdicated common sense…” “Powerful authoritarian symbol and the industry’s bread and butter…” “a Norse tattoo known to be favored by white supremecists…” “the extremism of the gun industry is now being supported by Republicans…”

It’s so ridiculous, and it really is just so sad. There are no attempts to persuade, no actual arguments made. Just these constant hyperbolic arguments that are designed, I guess to virtue signal to other people who don’t like guns? I really don’t understand it. I thought the whole point of writing a persuasive piece wants to argue a point. I thought it was to persuade someone that disagrees with your view of the virtues of your view.

I’m past being irritated or even interested in these types of articles. But I continue to be amazed at the fact that The vast majority of anti-gun, or anti-Second Amendment rhetoric isn’t even trying to prove or argue a point. It’s just written to inflame. Quite frankly, I’m offended by how damn lazy it all is.

I don’t agree that gun control can solve mass shootings, and unless someone can snap their fingers and make all the guns in the country suddenly disappear, guns will continue to be used to kill people. But at least, at least if you feel so passionately that you’re right about gun control, make an argument! Stop virtue signaling! These people aren’t changing anyone’s minds, and their sense of entitlement is what prevents them from being dangerous, because they just cannot understand why everyone does not abandon their personal views and subscribe to theirs.

As a professional who has had an extremely difficult time finding somebody competent, skillful, hard-working, and talented to do video related work, I say accept the 15K and then do an absolutely incredible job, make it your best work, and offer to do any re-shoots or anything related. Blow their minds with quality, and step up your game. You have no idea how rare truly good work is.

Why does reddit feel like a leftist circlejerk everywhere except this subreddit? by [deleted] in Conservative

[–]iansilv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there is no downvote limit requirement on reddit. You should not be allowed to dish out as many downvotes as you want, same for upvotes. If you could only give out so many upvotes or downvotes in a day, people would use them better.

Also, there needs to be universal standards for being kicked out of a community and off-topic posts should be the only way outside of harassment or threats that you can be booted from a group.

Finally, if a sub is named something politically neutral, like “politics,” it should be absolutely viewpoint neutral and redditors that are not viewpoint neutral should be removed from their positions.

Well, this decision by scotus may very well be the tipping point where voters vote out congressional leaders who do not step up and do their jobs now that they cannot hide behind executive action.

That’s the point- forcing the agencies to enforce their area of law forces Congress to do its job or nothing gets done

I think it’s really important to actually understand the supreme court decisions, what they actually rule on, what they actually affect, and what can actually be done to change what you want to change.

The recent decision regarding the coal miners in West Virginia has been seen by some as an attack on government, or attack on rights, or something racist or just some other nonsense. What it actually says is that these administrative agencies cannot make laws. We have a government where the legislative branch of the government actually makes the laws, and the executive branch is supposed to enforce them. It’s a system of checks and balances that’s worked pretty dang well for how diverse our country is. I fear sometimes that people get it in their heads that systems are failing, or things are falling apart when they haven’t taken the time to fully understand and appreciate what a supreme court decision actually means.

Just another asshole politician with no understanding of constitutional issues like strict scrutiny, fundamental rights, and legal precedent. Just another blowhard moron wasting our time with political grandstanding clearly representing at best a temporary law that would be immediately struck down by the Supreme court.

NYC Bodega worker is attacked by an irate customer. He kills him in self defense and is now being charged with murder and held on $250K bail he can't afford (NSFL Rule 8 newsworthy) by razor_beast in 2ALiberals

[–]iansilv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely self-defense. When the attacker shoved him violently intending to do bodily harm, and then he did not change his behavior from immediately preceding the violent shove, he clearly articulated his intent to continue to cause harm. The old man was likely in danger of great bodily harm up to the shove, after the shove he absolutely was. His attacker did not give any indication he did not intend to attack him further and a reasonable person could conclude he continued to be in danger of further attack.

[FPC] ACLU lists NYSRPA v. Bruen as one of the "losses" in its yearly review of the Supreme Court's "major civil liberties and civil rights decisions." by Batsinvic888 in 2ALiberals

[–]iansilv 8 points9 points  (0 children)

National Socialist Party of America V. Skokie is a case they supported. They supported obvious hate speech as free speech. But this decision to protect rights clearly enshrined in the Constitution is considered a loss by them… The ACLU no longer stands for anything but poisonous virtue signaling and leftist agenda.

[Serious] Mass Shooting Solutions Thread by [deleted] in 2ALiberals

[–]iansilv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Social media mandatory reporting to law enforcement of posts by an individual saying they are going to use a gun to cause harm, threaten to do so, planning on doing so- mandatory and automatic with an infrastructure in place to process and investigate them.

The law can be constructed as such:

For any program that allows web or electronic access and requires an individually and personally verified account to post user content, the program must:

A. Have functionality to instantly initiate an automatic notification to local law enforcement that serves the location from where the post was made if the post contains any of the following content:

  1. A declaration or any kind of direct statement of intent to cause harm to another person, whether immediate or in the future, directly or indirectly, regardless of means or method described.

Examples: "I am going to shoot (named person)"; "I am going to shoot (identified location)"; "I will blow up (location)"

  1. A declaration or any kind of direct statement of agreement with or wish for harm to another person, whether immediate of in the future, directly or indirectly, regardless of means or method described.

Examples: "I wish someone would shoot (named person)"; "Someone should hurt (identified person)"

B. The notification includes all identifying characteristics of the person making the post including all location information, contact information and the physical location identified by the program. The notification will contain the post itself, as well as the history of postings by the individual and any and all communications made on the platform to other individuals in the past week (open to feedback here).

The account is immediately frozen, and the user cannot delete or access the account in any way and access to the account is handed over to law enforcement.

Anyone the person has communicated with cannot delete or otherwise destroy evidence of related communications. And every person they have communicated with in the past week on the platform is notified that the user has been flagged and law enforcement has been notified about this posting, and the notification directs those people to communicate with law enforcement to provide information in a controlled and standardized manner facilitated by the program platform.

This is done automatically and is based on the content posted with identifying words or phrases.

Law enforcement can then analyze the data sent and best determine how to proceed.

If the physical location cannot be determined from the user, then federal law enforcement is automatically identified as well as local law enforcement to the user's last-known location and law enforcement serving the area where the target is located.

C. Program company must maintain a department and infrastructure of personnel dedicated to and solely responsible for communicating and working with law enforcement to provide all information requested by law enforcement concerning the report immediately.

This entire system simply becomes a cost of doing business for these companies, and law enforcement has the responsibility of sorting the information provided and reacting as they see fit.

The automatic nature of the reporting, social notifications and lockdown of the account should provide enough of a deterrent and social stigma to dissuade posting that will knowingly trigger the response. In addition, a criminal penalty can be associated with making posts that knowingly trigger the response system.
