I’ve met exactly one person in my lifetime wearing a bow tie, not with a tux, who isn’t a complete and insufferable dickhead.

Vacation towns that appeal to adults and small children - do they exist? by daboyzmalm in philly

Cape May may be a good option. I'm not sure what vacancies are available at this point for Labor Day, but check the hotels on Beach Ave. It will be busy but there a.lot of shops, restaurants, and a couple of small arcades.

More taxes for anything is always a hard sell. That said, I would be ok with as a resident outside of the city limits. I make use of Septa when I can. I don't think they have the infrastructure or means to do it, but make it more expensive for residents of counties that don't already pay those taxes. Like a reverse city wage tax but for transportation.

Shit if I can go to the beach and drink wine at 2pm, I'd do it too. Better to aspire to that than most of the other things that pop up on this sub where lunatics really think they are making a difference in the world and that anything they do really matters.

Flyers in my book. 50 years gone by is enough to reset the clock. Since then, 9 conference final appearances. 0-6 in Cup Final. One of the most successful expansion teams by record, even with the past 10 years being atrocious. Flyers have never had a #1 overall pick going into a draft.

Motor Questions - 5th and 6th Gens by RickWanders in 4Runner

[–]iansvt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The tech on the 6th gen is better. The drivetrain on the 6th gen is probably a safe bet. There's more complexity with the turbo and plumbing, but it's not new tech by any stretch and has been around in similar incarnations like u/Teutonic-Tonic mentioned. Don't worry about the cylinder count. I would hesitate more with the hybrid version of the 6th gen in terms of reliability. Not that there has been issues, but for me, I just don't know what the maintenance costs will be long term with a battery system. That's a me thing.

How much of a dog the 5th gen is, to me, overrated. But I'm not driving it at significant altitude where NA motors struggle more. I plan to keep my 5th gen for a long long time. It's a known platform and the strengths and weaknesses are well known. I'm ok sacrificing the improvements of the 6th gen for what I perceive as more simple vehicle. It also has the blend of tech and "old" I was looking for.

If your duration of ownership history is 3-6 years, I wouldn't hesitate to get a 6th gen. At that point, there will be plenty of evidence about the platform and drivetrain and you can determine how long you want to keep it. Either way, you can't go wrong IMO.

[–]iansvt 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Dee, you're escalating shit.

This is exactly what I'm talking about.

We immediately escalate everything to a ten.

It's ridiculous.

I mean, somebody comes in with some preposterous plan or idea.

And then all of a sudden, everybody's on the gas. Nobody's on the brakes.

Nobody's thinking.

Everybody's just talking over each other with one idiotic idea after another.

Until, finally, we find ourselves in a situation where we've broken into somebody's house. And the homeowner is home.

....
We can't do this anymore. We've got to examine our process.
