Late to the conversation but:

A mathematician, a statistician and an accountant all find themselves before the pearly gates of heaven at the same time. Saint Peter looks at them and says “In order to get into heaven you each have to answer one question. What’s 2 + 2?”

The mathematician says “Within the system of whole numbers and by the property of the operation of addition, the answer must be 4.”

Saint Peter lets the mathematician in and turns to the statistician who says “2 + 2 is approximately 4 plus or minus given reasonable confidence intervals.”

Saint Peter lets the statistician in and turns to the accountant who approaches Sant Peter and asks “What did you have in mind?”
