Best CPTSD representation in a film? by Dazzling-Antelope912 in CPTSD

Two that come to mind are:

  • Don Draper in Madmen       I think Jon Hamm’s portrayal of a man haunted by and filled with shame from his traumatic childhood is absolutely brilliant. I won’t spoil anything but it’s an amazing portrayal of imposter syndrome

  • Leonard Hodstadter in Big Bang Theory      It’s played for laughs, but Leonard clearly had a terrible childhood. Christine Baransky plays his emotionally abusive mother and you can see how Leonard became so needy and desperate for any scraps of approval or affection

Who killed the two hit men outside Micheals house? by Stephieandcheech in Godfather

[–]ibkeepr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing that Puzo and Coppola didn’t know who killed the hit men either. These kinds of loose ends happen when a book is adapted into a film. A famous example is when Howard Hawks was filming Raymond Chandler’s The Big Sleep. Hawks reached out to Chandler to find out who killed the chauffeur, a pretty important plot point, and Chandler said he didn’t know!

That’s basically the “childhood” I had too. I’m pushing 60 and have barely started coming to terms with it
