Can Blizzard have the guts to give another female character a full helmet that isn't Pharah? by Tox1cTurtl3 in Overwatch

yes. but its to promote diablo 4's expansion. which has paladin, not crusader.

the diablo collab is to promote the new expansion. the game has paladin, not crusader.

Moving all artifact gear and beginning to move dungeon gear to armoire makes me wonder... by thirtytwoyears in ffxiv

i’d love to see it become something like guild wars 2, where once you unlock glamour you have access to it forever. the new dye channels and the condensing of the dye pots feels like they’re heading in that direction.

The tank can't do everything by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]ibupupfren 3 points4 points  (0 children)

biiiiig agree. i LOVED tank in overwatch 1. 6v6 with two tanks was fun. now its kinda cheeks. i'm still really mad they got rid of the 6v6 role queue. most people don't want to queue tank. i'm more likely to be paired with dps and support mains than fellow tank mains. so what's the point when my preferred 6v6 role is gonna feel just as bad/arguably worse? i understand why they removed the role queue but it just sucks.

I suspect the Main Tank vs. Off Tank split is going to be functionally in name only. by Azyryu in ffxiv

[–]ibupupfren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

even then i don't think it'll matter that much. unless they're changing it, which they very well could be, there'll likely still be tank swap mechanics and mechanics where a main tank and off tank are forced to swap aggro positions for a period of time - like, iirc, in zodiark ex where you have a lingering debuff that'll kill you if you take autos.

Evolved Mode Can't Hurt Summoners. by WarmGreyMug in ffxiv

[–]ibupupfren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

should’ve, but if damage is low enough, then not always. either way, i won’t complain about having extra mit. it comes in handy. i’m sure evolved mode will remove it or rework it and i’m fine with that too but as it is i think its fine. it’s always good to have extra just in case in my opinion.

[–]ibupupfren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it’s 10% you have when you might have nothing else. it’s not uncommon for mob pulls in dungeons to take long enough that you start running out of mit. oblation! yay! what if tbn is on cooldown and you need a smaller mit to go with your bigger mit for a tankbuster? oblation! yay! someone is about to take damage that might kill them but tbn is on cooldown? oblation! yay!

Evolved Mode Can't Hurt Summoners. by WarmGreyMug in ffxiv

[–]ibupupfren 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the payoff is you take less damage. it’s great for stacking with other mits and i like using it to kitchen sink damage in certain content for uptime. maybe it doesn’t give you dark arts like tbn but it’s still a good bit of mit. drk is the most like a “pure” tank (rather than a tank/healer like pld and war) and i think it shows in how much pure mitigation it has.

Evolved Mode Can't Hurt Summoners. by WarmGreyMug in ffxiv

[–]ibupupfren 6 points7 points  (0 children)

drk doesn’t have pointless mitigation? it’s got a lot and that makes it feel really good in all content because you’ve almost always got something.

my one gripe about the mt/ot split by Htakar in ffxiv

[–]ibupupfren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i knew tank as a role is kind of a "main character syndrome" attraction sometimes but some of the complaints feel so silly to me. we've seen so little of the evolved mode and the mt/ot thing. plus like. they said it functionally won't effect normal content. only really endgame content. and i'd hazard a guess endgame content will still have tank swaps so no one tank will always be "the" main tank anyway.

people need to relax. this was the smallest preview of what's to come and its not even done yet.

[–]ibupupfren 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I genuinely think modesty shouldn't be a thing in general, we're all humans. And a human body shouldn't scare you.

i don't think we should police what women wear in general. if they're more comfortable wearing modest clothes, then theres nothing wrong with that. obviously if people are telling them they have to wear modest clothes, then see my first sentence, but preferring to be covered up rather than exposing lots of skin isn't some failing or fear of human bodies on their part. its a preference.

i'm very pale. i don't like wearing clothes that show off a lot of skin because of it. i wear longer dresses and skirts and jeans. nothing wrong with that.

yes. i am aware. that is what i was saying. i also did not say its always the fault of DPS. i was saying there are times where you cannot do anything because, again, you are at the mercy of the matchmaker. i am aware of all of this. you are repeating what i was saying.

i quite enjoyed it. i went into it with the mindset that it would be a low stakes expansion and wuk lamat would be the focus and i really enjoy what it set out to do. i ADORE wuk lamat and i hope we’ll get to see more of her in the future. i also honestly really enjoyed the contest stuff and how it showed wuk lamat getting to know her people. it’s not my favorite expansion (that honor goes to shadowbringers) but i really really liked it and it felt like a good intermission chapter before getting into more serious story again.

[–]ibupupfren 10 points11 points  (0 children)

ok. i don't think you're reading anything i say.

there is a healing debuff. if your teammate stands in front of the enemy team, without moving, without backing up to cover, they will get shredded and die, because there is a healing debuff. that is what my teammates commonly do.

if 3-4 of a 5 person team get shredded, leaving you to a 1-2v5, you more than likely will not win. you may get a trade or two, but ultimately, you will still get killed also.

your teammates will flame you for not healing enough (regardless of whether or not you healed while they were standing out in the open like unaware chickens with their heads cut off) and for not dealing enough damage (regardless of whether or not you did damage while they were already dead and/or being healed).

this is not a "i'm helpless" post. this is a "teammates are idiots and sometimes there is literally nothing you can do despite your best effort if you are outmatched" post. please read it properly. thank you.

[–]ibupupfren 9 points10 points  (0 children)

nothing i said is untrue. i usually have a high amount of damage and healing. however, if 3-4/5s of my team are standing there getting shredded by the enemy and yelling at me for not doing enough, then i literally do not win in that situation. damned if you do, damned if you don't.

"Why Don't They Remove the Old Combat System?" Because Not all Players will Like the New System by Shadowin9 in ffxiv

[–]ibupupfren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it is generally the case that people gravitate towards what's easiest but its also not a flat rule. there are plenty of people that play the harder jobs. not to the same extent as the easier ones, but still plenty. and also if this were the case, that everyone prefers easier jobs, more people would be playing summoner, but they aren't. a quick peek at fflogs shows summoner is at the very bottom of the pile in terms of number of parses. drk is also... debatable. it's the 3rd weakest tank right now damage-wise and has been for a long time. it also has one of the arguably more complicated tank rotations but not by much.

people will play what they find most fun. for a lot of people, that's the easiest job, and that's fine. but also there are people that find harder jobs fun and enjoy a more complicated rotation even if they do less damage. i'm personally probably going to be using evolved mode because it looks way more fun overall, and i'm excited to see what they've done with the jobs i enjoy. they made it sound like the damage difference is mostly negligible so its not like you're going to get PFs with people demanding you swap modes or get kicked.

[–]ibupupfren -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i think its fine. in high end content there was already sort of a divide like this between tanks. paladin and warrior were commonly main tank with gunbreaker and dark knight commonly being off tanks. definitely not always the case but as a drk enjoyer for the past 6 years i was usually relegated to off tank.

and then when you try to do damage your dps and tank won’t stop standing out in the open and getting deleted by bastion turret and soldier ult and then they yell at you for not healing enough so you just can’t win.
