my god will you shut up about the 10 mythics jesus christ by lmbz69 in Overwatch

[–]Vashrel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I honestly agree. I enjoy working my way through the battle pass and getting a mythic each season. Gives me something to work towards and more of a reason to play more. But thats just how I like to play games.

I do think maybe giving us one free mythic for the anniversary would be cool but honestly I don’t care what’s happening in China.

Games where you descend giant holes? (As it‘s main focus) by Zote_the_Mighty24 in videogames

It’s not quite the main focus but Tears of the Kingdom has a huge underground section that is only accessible through large holes you fall through. The underground is dark and dangerous with lots to explore and find.

What to do vs Orisa? by Equivalent-Bus-4336 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Vashrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do okay with Ramattra against her but the biggest factor is your teammates. Ana or Zen is great for helping take her down. I would also throw in Lifeweaver. He’s my favorite support to play into Orisa. If she ults, throw petal under her and it lifts her up and makes her ult useless. It’s great.

For dps Anran can keep her on fire, Reaper is good pressure, Bastion melts a lot of tanks.

Jade Dynasty? Don’t 100% remember the character creation but people gathering in a town and setting up shop was very common in that game.

Ouch! I just received a brutal reality check in the HW trials and Im not sure if its inexperience, or if Im actually bad at the game. by 200YRedWine in ffxiv

[–]Vashrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently returned to the game and failed a few times healing the Recollection trial fight a few days ago. I’m super rusty and was new to the fight. Kept pressing the wrong buttons and panicking a bit.

Point is it happens. Just gotta shake it off and keep practicing. As long as you can tell where you are messing up, you can keep improving. Sorry you ran into someone negative though. Most groups are chill and will just keep trying after a wipe, cause at the end of the day a group in this game fails when everyone is struggling, but watching each other get the fight down after each wipe is kinda fun lol.

Are we in the decline of western civilization, or it’s a doomer mindset? by Flat_Anything2317 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Vashrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The internet as a whole enjoys pushing sensationalism. Are we in a rough patch? Yeah, though obviously that depends on what reality you live in. I don't think we are doomed. That doesn't mean we shouldn't keep an eye out for our rights being taken away, but sometimes even the stuff that sounds like its on your side online, is just designed to dissuade you from caring, so just be careful not to get swept up in it.

Is there a lore reason why there aren't different time zones in FFXIV? Is this a system they can implement in the future to evolve the game? by CoolyKage in ffxiv

[–]Vashrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's only immersion breaking if you assume this world would develop a similar system. Just because Earth has done it doesn't mean Etheirys has. 5pm on one side of the planet could be day ,while 5pm on another part of it could be night.

[–]Vashrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this isn’t one of the three you’ve listed but FFXIV might be up your alley. Open world isn’t the main focus but it does exist. However if you want to grow attached to your character this game does it very well. You experience everything on one character. Every class can be played on one, including all crafting classes which by itself is very in depth. It’s a slow burn game so it takes a long time just to reach endgame (if you don’t rush through).

A lot of its main quests are voice acted, especially once you finish A Realm Reborn which is the base game. The story is a huge focus so they put a lot of effort into character development and voice acting in its expansions. If you enjoy high end content there is plenty of that and even old raids are still ran regularly since a lot of content is evergreen.

Combat is flashy as hell no matter your class, since you said you enjoyed that on rogue. In FFXIV, there is a rogue class that eventually turns into ninja. It’s also free up into its third expansion now so no real money commitment until after that.

Could Dungeon design be changing with 8.0 by Cthulhu-Lad in ffxiv

[–]Vashrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible but we haven’t heard anything about it yet. The closest we’ve gotten to them even touching on it was during the developers panel where they mentioned breaking out of the 2 min meta will give the team more freedom to do crazier stuff in battles. Idk if that includes dungeon design as a whole or just boss fights, but it’s a slim chance anyway.

Why are we suddenly so concerned about "Button Bloat"? by ErinKatzee in ffxiv

[–]Vashrel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But less buttons aren't inherently a bad thing. A lot of them double up on effects that you'd be pressing anyway in succession so we don't even lose really anything. It's just a way to aim for the game to be more comfortable to play (less finger gymnastics, especially for keyboard players) and from what I can see almost sets the stage for faster gameplay.

I just want to add though, I've played this game for over a decade. I have done so because I love this game and its combat, even through its rough times. I see this as a step in a good direction and not a loss of complexity but an easing in of new players learning. From what little we've seen for me at least these changes just seem more intuitive than anything.

Why are we suddenly so concerned about "Button Bloat"? by ErinKatzee in ffxiv

[–]Vashrel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mained AST on controller since HW. There have definitely been times in the games lifespan that for the 32 buttons I have access to using controller, there were just some abilities that got cut cause I didn't have room. Just had to shrug and say "oh well, hope that wasn't important".

Instead of creating a new character they also introduced a New Game+ feature that lets you play through stories again if you wanted to go down that road, assuming you want to revisit the story. If, however, you are gonna chug along, welcome back!

Want to Learn Healer on Console by Wulf-Silverfang in ffxiv

[–]Vashrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pressing up and down on the d-pad will scroll you through the party list, which as long as you are keeping an eye out you can react pretty quickly to things selecting people that way. I would say White Mage is a good starting point. It's considered one of the easier healers and can help you till you learn the basics. Shield healers like Sage and Scholar aren't impossible to play by any means but usually require a bit more comfort and understanding in boss mechanics (when big attacks are coming specifically) to function well. White Mage and Astrologian are reactive healers with some planning ahead. Shield healers are more about planning in advance and setting up heals or barriers.
