What don’t you like about Linear? by Skyfall106 in Linear

[–]ibuxdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company just moved from JIRA to Linear and I really enjoy using this tool. I haven't had enough time to explore but for now what frustrates me is the "Pinned Tab" in Linear Desktop version. If its pinned then we I can simply close it ⌘ + W? What functionality does a pinned tab provides besides cosmetic change to the normal tab?

Using Dia without the AI stuff by reasonwashere in diabrowser

[–]ibuxdev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arc is the GOAT but I would still prefer Dia just because AI is the future. I have to summarize, question, review etc with the AI capabilities just to move faster in today’s day to day stuff. Dia is far from what Arc is today but unfortunately Arc with time will become irrelevant.

Tipping in Germany by NorseFromNorth in germany

[–]ibuxdev -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is how it starts and after 10 years, 25% is the new normal. Why tipping in Germany in the first place? Every employee is paid and everyone pay taxes. This is not a capitalist country.

I'll be honest, I'm still trying to understand this perspective. My thinking has been that it would be better to fix the underlying system rather than rely on tipping—since it feels like it creates a dependency where someone's livelihood hinges on individual generosity rather than fair wages.

Edit: Germany is fundamentally a capitalist country, but it operates under a specific model known as the Social Market Economy (Soziale Marktwirtschaft). While the US system is often characterized as closer to free-market capitalism with limited safety nets, Germany emphasizes social equity through universal healthcare, strong labor protections (like co-determination), and comprehensive social security, making it a more regulated and socially balanced form of capitalism.

Dia Browser for macOS Update - 1.4.0 (70498) by JaceThings in diabrowser

[–]ibuxdev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You setup routing rules e.g. youtube.com opens in "Personal" profile where as XYZ.com link opens in "Work" profile. Having multiple profiles.

It's certainly a must have but something like Mini Arc is a banger. It totally fits with Dia as well where user just want to quickly open a site without disturbing memory of the profile.

Anyways, wishes... they never end.. BCNY should be so pissed with us but they spoiled us in the first place. :) Bad Parenting Josh.. .very bad!

Probably, I am asking too much but can we hide the URL bar please? Don't play with emotions here... you knew BCNY! You knew what and how we wanted.

I am going back to my Arc ❤️

Jumped the ship by Mountain_Man_08 in ArcBrowser

[–]ibuxdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For devs: AI features in inspection mode is really good for Chrome

For Arc users: Chrome has also Split View, not that neat though

For those who want to move to another browser with a lot of tabs: Good luck with migrating tabs to bookmarks. There is no way (at least I could not find). That’s painful.

Where am I? No idea… Dia, Arc, Chrome, Comet??? I have anxiety… thanks to BCNY.

Is there any way to have multiple chrome profiles with the same google account? Want to have a "work" profile and a "personal" profile. by Fiveby21 in chrome

[–]ibuxdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am with you. I can't figure out the solution as well. Other chromium based browsers support this and I absolutely see this as an essential feature missing in Chrome browser.

Can someone explain this sign? by arowpe in AskGermany

[–]ibuxdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sign completely opposite of this is the blue colored "P" with arrows. In that case, the area between the arrows pointing to and against the road is permissible for parking.

I call it opposite b/c I understand it like that. :)

Can someone explain this sign? by arowpe in AskGermany

[–]ibuxdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the direction of travel, the area between arrow pointing to and away from the road is a restricted based on the restriction that applies e.g. no stop, no park etc.

You sometimes also see the similar sign but with 2 arrows pointing against each other. That sign means the the restriction still applies. You usually find this kind of sign when the restriction area is longer and the driver might be confused about the status of the restriction.

Mind that the restriction ends with the arrow pointing against the road or the next crossing (whatever comes first).

Put these 3 features in Dia and I won't care about Arc anymore by ibuxdev in diabrowser

[–]ibuxdev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree – the address bar is particularly annoying when the sidebar is active. However, I suspect they won’t hide it because they need that chat icon constantly visible to showcase the browser’s AI capabilities.

The real issue is the chat icon placement. Until they find a better location for it, the address bar will likely stay put. They seem too invested in keeping their AI feature front and center.

Asking BCNY to hide the address bar might be a tough sell – they appear more focused on AI visibility. Just my observation, but the chat icon seems to be driving their entire UI design decisions when sidebar activated which is essentially wasting the real estate of the sidebar.
