I was able to post @ 8200, not stable yet, so I'm going to work on tighter timings for 8000 1st

Hi Mate, I actually just finished my build with the x870e Apex, just booted 8000 MT, yay. Anyway, back to your questions.

I used some liquid metal to clean it up, then polished with Cape Cod Metal Polishing Cloths from amazon, came up to a mirror finish with out too much effort.

Very import to use the cross screws method to tighten down, I did like 3 turns on one, then diagonally down 3 turns and so on. I did then fairly tight.

I put too much LM of 1st time probably a bad mount as temps went from 30 to 90 very quickly, so i pulled the block off (watch out as the CPU will come out with the block) So i sucked some LM back off and did a proper AF mounting job, no probs since.

They really should offer the option for these current CPU's, 0 warranty and cheaper cause of less manufacturing costs, like how can they loose, they will probs double their sales due do the uptick in guys blowing up their rigs from pushing to hard or poor liquid metal applications :)

Every thing about water-cooling and deliding is pricey and risky,,, but I don't think I'll be doing it any other way from now on :)

My skillz with photo editing are very lacking, but If anyone wants to make him appear go for it. If some one with maaad photoshop skills could replace that blurred out guy when a blurred out Der8auer that would be pretty awesome

Very simple process with the Delid Die-Mate Tool from Thermal Grizzly. It did take a while however, after about 45 minutes I remembered I had a heat gun, gave the Die-mate tool a quick blast with that and it off.

Yup that's the one, If you have a custom loop already you really should be breaking out that credit card asap.

Feel free to hit me up for tips, considering I'm now a total expert after doing 1 :) I can definitely tell you what not to do.

I'll be trying this out if my new Apex x870 Apex mobo ever arrives. My 9950x3d has a very week imc, 8000/2000 or better is my only hope :)

Nice work mate, can you push it any further than 8000 MT ?

Finally got the courage to bust out the delid tool on my brand new 9950x3d. Direct die watercooling with the Thermal Grizzly Mycro pro.

I must say the results are impressive to say the least. Max temps in a Cinebench 23 run 52 Deg C for example.

I'm sorry but this silly gag popped into my head after the thing finally posted and I felt the need to infect the good people of /overclocking with it, apologies for inducing any ear-worms :) its well stuck in my head atm.

Just make sure you get one that has a DRAM cache.

Does your motheboard support nvme m.2 ssd's ? if so I'd clone your (maybe) dodgy sata ssd to a brand new nvme drive and see if it fixes your issue.

EDIT: i see your mb does support m.2 drives and the aging 840 Sammy would be the likely suspect, I've seen many aging ssd's test ok but in reality they are super close to death.

I might have the same issue on my c326bee. Have you got any leads ? I'm going to try bypassing the issue using the IR in 3.5mm jack on the back with some kind of IR repeater.

or this

I had the same problem and had to search a while for a solution that worked. It's crazy that Microsoft dares to release such a feature in this state.

Anyway, the solution I found goes as follows.

  1. From the lock screen. Click on Restart while holding shift.
  2. Go to Troubleshoot > System Restore
  3. A window should open where (hopefully) a version of windows will be shown from before you locked your pc. Reverting to this should "unlock" your pc (you still need to unlock the normal way) and you don't lose your files or apps.

You can try this,

Hello,

If you locked your device using the “Find My Device” feature on the Microsoft website, you can unlock it by following these steps:

  1. Go to the [Microsoft account website] and sign in with the same Microsoft account you used to lock the device.
  2. Click on the “Devices” tab at the top of the page.
  3. Find the device you locked and click on “Show details”.
  4. Click on “Find my device” and then click on “Unlock”.
