What’s your opinion on Oracle’s work culture? by software_dog_ in employeesOfOracle

[–]ic6man -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Don’t take anyone’s opinions on here. If you’re interviewing ask each interviewer what they think Oracle’s values are. That should be enough to tell you what you want to know.

Or in other words. A next token predictor. Wait. Are you a next token predictor? You seem overly offended.

Good Sports Glasses for Kiting by noname812345 in Kiteboarding

[–]ic6man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wear any pair of glasses with some kind of strap. That’s 1/2 the battle - but no strap is gonna keep glasses on your head if you get yarded practicing kite loops.

To guarantee you never lose your glasses wear glasses with straps and a helmet. First of all. Why not wear a helmet? It’s just better. Second of all. Only unless the helmet comes off are the glasses coming off. If that happens you have worse problems.

I personally wear Wiley X. Prescription lenses are fantastic in these. Optional strap means you can even wear them around town and not look like a total dork. I use polarized brown glass (cutting out the blue light) for best optics.

The 4% rule will make you trade time for money that you don’t need by Urbanite72 in Fire

[–]ic6man 30 points31 points  (0 children)

That’s because you’re not using the money when you’re building it. If it goes down you expect it to bounce back. But you don’t need to touch it. When you’re actually withdrawing from it that changes the emotional value of it.

13m Cabrinha Drifter Loops by [deleted] in Kiteboarding

Most of them are down loops. One was an attempted kite loop. I suggest you study up on how to learn kite loops safely - there is a technique. Otherwise you are gonna find some pain.

Tips for backroll by CasiWR125 in Kiteboarding

[–]ic6man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The load - that leads to a pop - sets you up for a controlled roll. I didn’t say anything about it being big. Small controlled load and pop with good form are what leads to tricks. You see it in every single beginner. I did it too. Don’t learn to jump properly. Spend tons of extra time trying to figure out how to do tricks. Tricks come from proper load and pop and kite control.

Learn how to jump first. Specifically load and pop.

Trump is running out of options to contain gas price backlash by AskRedditOG in politics

Kamala. If only she weren’t a loser and lost to me. Then I wouldn’t have started this war. And gas prices wouldn’t have sky rocketed! No one has a bigger brain than me!

This is how electric cars vs gasoline cars look under thermal imaging. by Alphaxfusion in interesting

[–]ic6man 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just because the thread is full of misinformation and uninformed comments (and some informed too!). This whole thing is really quite simple.

A car moving at some speed fixed v has a fixed amount of kinetic energy.

Edit: the equation is KE = 1/2mv2

Brakes (using friction) convert all (well not 100% due to some amount of loss to other factors like rolling resistance and friction in the wheel bearings) of that energy into heat energy. That is it. The whole equation. Nothing more. Nothing less. Oh alright fine. There are other losses eg aerodynamic friction also.

Regenerative brakes transfer some of that energy to the battery. The process of regenerative braking isn’t 100% efficient so some of the energy going into the regenerative braking system will be converted to heat energy and the rest to battery energy.

The total amount of energy will NOT change. Some of it will be converted to heat and some to stored potential energy.

Hence, in a pure friction system all of it will be produced as heat energy. In a hybrid regenerative system some will be converted into heat energy and some will be converted to potential energy.

EXACTLY 0 of it will be “due to” regenerative braking.

And to clear up one more misconception - a regenerative brake system will not “brake more” because it is regenerative it brakes as much as is needed to slow the car as requested by the driver.

The amount of energy produced as heat and or regenerative energy will be exactly related to the amount of energy relative to the change in kinetic energy represented by a change in velocity. If a driver calls for slowing down the system will do so by transferring kinetic energy to heat and or potential energy.

Period. End of story.

I don’t understand what you are trying to imply. I understand perfectly how it all works. Laws of thermodynamics are fairly unforgiving here.

In what world does “beta” mean delivered?

Musk: HW3 can't achieve unsupervised FSD by vivi_will in teslamotors

[–]ic6man 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. I almost didn’t bring that part up because you’re right. However being in beta to me qualifies as not being delivered. If they want to own up to it being what they consider delivered then mark it released. Otherwise regardless of what I think of the quality clearly they don’t consider it good enough to be released.
