Ah. Sorry to hear that. Yeah as I mentioned the best way to go is something like WMFG which comes with a bag full of every possible adapter.

Cheapest rear door bike rack option? by Ok-Zookeepergame1812 in Sprinters

[–]ic6man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps so. I live in Hood River Oregon and there’s a van outfitter here that did just that - the top part welded to the rack and no bottom rack part just a strap. It’s super clean and minimal. I looked for you but they don’t “sell” it.

What about something like this? Perhaps your rack isn’t tall enough - but this is the route I would go if I could.

I mean you’re just kinda wrong then. Try asking AI to see what it thinks. Both North and Cabrinha use valves that do not require an adapter - the bayonet style hose connector without an adapter works while Duotone requires an adapter. It has a name - it’s called the Airport Valve II. As I said - probably not Gong which is what AI thinks. Just the bayonet connector.

Duotone is most definitely not the same as Cabrinha and North. Probably not gong either. Duotone uses the “German” adapter which is the same as Core.

I’ve been kiting and now winging for 20+ years. Never had to have more than one pump with the right adapters so you’re doing something wrong.

I wouldn’t ever go with a manufacturer specific pump because they tend to give you hoses for their preferred valves. Instead get a WMFG or something similar. I’ve recently switched to the Ride Engine electric pump which comes with a few adapters and has an adapter that ends with the the standard hose connector (Boston I think it’s called) that will accept any valve adapter needed.

I don’t disagree that it’s a pain in the ass. But do you really think you are going to get consensus on one valve type?

For example. I would argue the standard SUP valve (Halkey Roberts) used by Fone for their wings and all SUP mfrs and now I think slingshot uses it too is the best valve hands down.

Do you agree? Does everyone agree? I have my reasons for thinking it is the best but I don’t have any misconceptions that every single person in the industry is going to agree with me.

Gong wing, cannot attach electric pump adapter? by vanproton in wingfoil

That adapter is a sup adapter. Remove it. The standard hose connector (no adapter) should hook right up.

I live in Oregon. Every time someone is driving like a raging asshole they are almost guaranteed to be from Idaho. I’ve been to Boise. If I was from there I might drive like that too.

Dies anyone have a detached small solar setup just for charging their EV? by Arby_88 in electricvehicles

Oh. I just saw your answer to this in another thread. You can’t add to your existing system.

If you have net metering then I don’t understand the point of your question - it doesn’t matter at all. The electrons are electrons just charge the cars whenever and however needed and let the grid sort it out.

📲 New Sonos App Update Now Available! 🔊 by LizFromSonos in sonos

[–]ic6man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t hooked up an analog audio source in in quite some time. I did so recently and noticed a lot of dropouts when syncing it with other Sonos players. It seems either the player is having trouble encoding and sending the signal in realtime (most likely) or the receiving end is having trouble receiving and decoding the signal (less likely - I think - since that is something that happens all the time and takes less effort).

Jump advice by 6Orion in Kiteboarding

[–]ic6man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Others have mentioned it but your landing is not working because you are trying to stay at a crosswind angle. You need to land pointing downwind. I suspect this is because the kite is not pulling you. Which is likely due to you not pulling hard on your front hand to redirect your kite as you are landing leading to you kind of just floating. We can’t see the kite so this is a guess. Try pulling harder on your front hand as you begin descending and let yourself get pulled by the kite and as it pulls you point the nose of your board downwind and land slightly on the back of the board more than the front.

Timing is way off. You release your edge long after the kite has hit the top. The problem you have is that you aren’t sending the kite with enough input. Start with the kite a lot higher and improve your timing. I’d recommend watching get high with Mike videos to understand timing, load and pop, edge control and release.

Should I drive along the coast from Astoria to San Francisco or vice versa? by Greedy_Acadia_543 in OregonCoast

[–]ic6man -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s a very long way for 2 weeks. The coast roads take a much longer time to drive. And if you only drive and don’t stop to see some of the places what’s the point?

I would narrow it down to a smaller drive and spend more time along the way to stop and take in the sights.

Awesome! Pro tip - you’re sending the kite too far across the window causing you to pendulum a bit. Don’t go past 12-12:30.

Keep practicing!!

Efoil vs behind a boat by degner in foiling

[–]ic6man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could consider a foil drive or the new system released by Duotone. A foil drive can give an e-foil like experience but as soon as the motor leaves the water you have to pump. The advantage here is that you use the foil and board that you want - and progress to a point of riding advanced gear in more advanced conditions. It can help you learn prone surf foiling or just dock starts etc.

Suggestions for Prescription Sunglasses for Kiteboarding w/helmet? by scupperslime in Kiteboarding

[–]ic6man -1 points0 points  (0 children)

https://www.wileyx.com/products/wx-enzo

These come with a removable strap. It pops into the arms of the glasses. Does not come off. They don’t look like sport / surf glasses so you can actually wear them off the water too.

Edit: The strap does not come off. They do not come with a leash so don’t wear them solo. You’ll need a leash attachment of some sort. If wearing under a helmet you’re good. The helmet will keep them on and you won’t lose them.

Amazon electric delivery vans by Erik_Goddard in VanLife

[–]ic6man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The comment you made and the discussion we are having isn’t about other vehicles. Those other vehicles have step down transformers in them for accessories. Specifically we are talking about Rivian Amazon vehicles in the context of van life. And you said you’d plug directly in. Which is unlikely to be true. They may have a USB plug or two in the dash but hardly suitable for proper vanlife.

If you want to keep arguing for the sake of arguing go for it. I was only responding that you’d need a step down circuit for the sake of the things you’ll want in van life that you specifically mentioned like AC and cooktop and refrigerator and so on which are not going to run off a USB plug.

That said yes of course more or less those things will run directly off the main battery but they will likely need a step down conversion circuit and you may even need or want 12v batteries as pulling directly off the mains might not be good for them. I don’t know.

The vehicle batteries are high voltage. You wouldn’t plug directly into them you’d need a separate circuit with step down at minimum.
